More vacation spots.

«1
I think they should make a seasons pack and have a vacation spot for each season that you can only visit during the season it is intended for. Ex: being able to vacation in the mountains and go skiing in the winter and during the summer being able to rent a house on the beach and go swimming in the ocean. Also having a mini casino on a boardwalk by the ocean. What do you guys think?

What a horrible idea. I don't want seasons in separate packs and limited to one vacation world. I want seasons the way we've always had seasons. I don't get why people want to divide the seasons up among different worlds. Why are people willing to settle for a half baked seasons pack. They never said a full seasons pack like we've had in the past would not be possible.

I want the full blown seasons experience with weather in every world that can be changed to suite each world (all rain in Windenburg, all sun in OS, etc.). I get to decide what weather happens where and when. I also want holidays back with all that goes with them, gift giving, etc. I want a weather machine for my mad scientist sim to control. Plus, I want clothes that fit each season.

Why are you willing to settle?

I love the idea of having vacation spots which each focus on different seasons.

The only thing is that I don't care much for the idea of restrictions. Most people travel to warm spots in the winter and cooler spots in the summer. It seems at odds with this practice to force Sims to travel from the same type of weather to the exact type of weather that they just left. Plus, there are so many restrictions in the game already. I would like the Sims to travel whenever they like.

If we get a normal seasons pack like in the past, you can have any weather you want in any vacation spot you want. You could make a freak snow storm at the beach if you wanted. Again, why do people want it limited?

My whole point was to have different vacation spots not just the one we have

No where in the original post did the OP say that she only wanted seasons in specific worlds. They said they wanted vacation spots for each season that you could only travel to during that season. Which, if I understood them correctly, means that seasons would be global, not only local.

Exactly it was just a suggestion that if they were going to make a season to add vacation spots as well since there is only one. As you know they like to split things up

And my point is that with a seasons EP, any world, present or future, residential or vacation, can have any weather you want at any time. I hope we get more vacation packs but I don't want them to depend on any one season in order to enjoy playing them. If they release an Alpine Ski Vacation Pack, it should be fun to play with or without seasons. Not everyone may decide to buy seasons, so it should be able to stand on it's own. A world like GF in OR could be a winter wonderland if the trees had no leaves and the ground was covered in snow. You would be required to buy Seasons in order to play the ski vacation. It would add to the overall look, but not be required. However, with Seasons, you could turn GF into a winter wonderland yourself.

Yep. I know that very well

I like the idea of season-specific vacation spots because it is very true to life. In the US at least, people head to the northeast in the fall. They go to ski resorts in the west that have winter-specific activities and, of course, there are tropical destinations all over the world where people go for summer activities.

I'm dying for vacation worlds and if a lot of the stuff that comes with Seasons are added to those world off the bat, it would be pretty good. Because, goodness knows, it's getting harder and harder to find room to add EP activities in the existing worlds. I would like to see world where those Seasonal activities are placed throughout the world in the areas that are not bounded by lot lines. Right now, public areas are much too empty -- a few barbecue pits and a single playground apparatus is not my idea of judicious use of space.

So, if EA creates season-specific vacation worlds, I'm looking forward to those public areas being full of skiing, snowboarding, snow forts, ice rinks, and the like. A summer spot should have public areas that have limbo contests objects, roasting pits for luaus, picnic areas (with picnic baskets), volley ball courts, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, etc. All of those kinds of objects that are usually so large that only the largest lots can accommodate them. A neat solution would be to put them all in the public spaces, make the worlds feel more alive. It also would give Sims more impetus to travel to places that have activities that they wouldn't find at home, including spelunking and tomb raiding, if they like.

That's not to say that those objects shouldn't be available everywhere if some people want to place them on lots at home. They should be catalog objects so that players who don't want their Sims to travel can plunk them down on whatever free lots that they may have at "home".

Adding seasons plus vacation spots would finally create a very robust EP in a series where the EPs have generally been pretty empty.

I much prefer to have another sims expansion that enables sims to go vacationing to culture specific places like monte vista, champs les sims, shang shimla or al simhara provided that seasons are included as a base expansion via options like a cruise ship stay or a plane. Sims 3 paradise Isles and also that was also another great idea for expansions. Managing a BnB + restaurants under one roof, a winery or a farm. But the most important thing is, when do we get a lot with 100x100 tiles ?

I think they should make a seasons pack and have a vacation spot for each season that you can only visit during the season it is intended for. Ex: being able to vacation in the mountains and go skiing in the winter and during the summer being able to rent a house on the beach and go swimming in the ocean. Also having a mini casino on a boardwalk by the ocean. What do you guys think?

For a while I've liked the idea of having a Seasons pack that focuses on weather and the kind of homely family aspect. So you'd have the snow and be able to go out and play in it and have Christmas with your family. So I'm keen on getting Seasons as a dedicated expansion pack. But I also LOVE getting new destination worlds to explore, for example I loved World Adventures and Monte Vista and Bon Voyage and having all those fun places to explore. So I'd be ok with getting that dedicated Seasons pack AND more destination which give us interesting activities and new cultural content to kind of layer up on top of the basic weather/season content. A bit like getting Seasons for TS3 but also getting Sunlit Tides and Monte Vista and Aurora Skies as add-on destinations.

Sadly I think getting a really good Seasons pack AND lots of destinations all in one expansion is asking a little too much, because I believe that updating all the worlds to make them seasonable would be a ton of work. But I'm all for getting both. Both is good.

And I do really want a traditional beach vacation world, like Sunlit Tides or Twikki Island. Something tropical and gorgeous. And an Alpine ski resort and a casino world are also both on my Most Wanted list. I'd like a snowy mountain world that felt like a mix of both Granite Falls and Windenburg but... you know... snowy and high in the mountains! Like a neighbour that is a mix of both Aspen and the Swiss Alps. And I'd like something that feels like Oasis Springs' more glamorous and slightly promiscuous aunt: a second desert world more like Vegas with casinos and lots of lights and glitter. So I think we're on the same page, kinda.

Yes that's why I mentioned to have the vacation spots in the seasons because they like to nickel and dime their customers it would be nice to have a lot of content in one pack rather than splitting it up and charging double

Agreed. TS3 festivals were so much more fun than the EA-made festivals in CL. I enjoyed creating festival lots and watching the Sims be drawn to it. This time, I would hope that there would also be a ferris wheel object to add to the carousel, games, and roller coasters.

Festivals in S3 didn't have roller coasters or a carousel. It was much simpler than that. There was a photo tent, a face paint tent, a seasonal game or two like water balloon fighting or snowball fights. There were booths for kisses or food and pie eating contests. There was a haunted house in the Fall. Sometimes there was an ice/roller rink, but certainly no carousel or roller coaster.

I didn't say that carousels or roller coasters came with the EP, I said that I hope a ferris wheel could be added go along with those things that were absolutely and officially objects created by EA for the Sims 3 game.

My festivals had all of those things because I put them there, which was my point. In TS4. the festivals will never change because EA made them that way. In TS3, the opposite was true. I had full control. I could put anything on a festival lot that space would permit, including official content as well as CC.

That is what I want. I want to be able to create my own festivals and I would like a ferris wheel to put in it.

I do understand what you are saying here. However, creating content costs money and they can only create a certain amount of content per pack. The people who create the worlds need to be paid. The people who write the code need to be paid. The modellers, the animators, the audio team, the designers... all need to be paid for the work that they do.

So it is a question of what do you add and what do you cut? So you want several new destinations included in a 'Seasons' pack. Fine. But a choice may have to be made. Would you rather have a new world for each season, or would you rather have seasons in all the existing worlds? You could have both but would you be willing to pay more? Maybe $80? Because you have to pay for that work. Or would you rather have minimal weather and seasonal features to get a more shallow experience? For example, did you play TS1 On Vacation? We had destinations and weather like 'snow' but the detail of the weather was much less impressive than TS3 Seasons.

Don't get me wrong, I'm TEAM ALL THE THINGS!!! But I do realise that people will not work for free and that EA is a business not a charity. I'd personally rather have a really good expansion pack for weather and seasons that updates all the existing worlds to give them new life and buy really great destination game packs separately than have a watered down experience.

Just to be clear, I really like your ideas and suggestions for new destinations. I just have reservations about how much we can expect in a single pack without getting a watered down experience. If you compare with TS3, we didn't get a new world with Seasons, they spent the resources on updating the existing worlds which gave them a whole new feel as the Seasons changed and this proved to be a very popular pack.

If we get Seasons, I want to experience 'winter' in my home world. I want to have my Sim spend Christmas with their family, to play out in the snow in their backyard, and to have the neighbours come by singing carols. I don't want an eternal summer in my home world only to have to travel to a vacation world to experience winter.

I did read what you wrote and what you wrote appeared to be one continuous idea. If the two sentences were two different ideas, they should have been separated by more than a period. Otherwise, the reader will think you are continuing the same thought in the next sentence.

(Note the separation indicating a new line of thought) I too, would like a ferris wheel, especially if there is a chance of failure and getting stuck at the top. Maybe if your sweetie is next to you, a makeout opportunity too.

being able to vacation in the mountains and go skiing in the winter
    that is silly.
Sure, you can only ski when there is snow, but in some places, there is snow in summer, and the mountains shouldn't be restricted to snow related holidays. A lot of people like to holiday in the mountains in spring and autumn. Times of year when hiking and climbing are a bit easier.
during the summer being able to rent a house on the beach and go swimming in the ocean.
As someone who grew up near the beach, and went swimming in winter, this offends me. What do you have against beaches at other times of year? What did they do to hurt you?

Also having a mini casino on a boardwalk by the ocean. What do you guys think?
I think you need to listen to the song blow up the pokies by The Whitlams and then take a look at the blackpool pier.
