Vacation has been popular EP since TS1 and has appeared in a few forms. TS3 got it in two forms in WA which was more about exploring than relaxation (who can relax in a camp site?) while IP was the 'beach theme' so there is no reason why they cannot use some of that concept in TS4 if it has already been done in other areas.

I guess that it would either be a vacation theme or University as the final TS4 EP if TS4 does not continue after 2018.

It is. They talked about the Sims Mobile being supported alongside The Sims 4 for PC and console over “the next few years” which tells me we’ve got a few years yet.

Was IP a Vacation pack? Is thought it was residential. I only owned the base game & Ambitions but I’ve seen LP’s of all of them

@jackjack_k I think that IP was meant to be a bit of both. It had the hotels in the form of 'resorts' and beaches it visit although it's function was the same as any other liveable world with residential lots and resorts could be placed or built in any world. This was different to TS2's Bon Voyage which was only a place that you could visit which made it more like WA only BV included the hotels and no tombs of course.

I will say that I wish that they made it possible to visit other worlds in TS3 to make IP a vacation destination if you lived in Sunset Valley. This is possible with a mod but never made official sadly

Island Paradise was not a vacation world, it was a regular residential world like all the others. It reminded me of Hawaii with it's one big island surrounded by the smaller ones. You could live there and that EP came with RESORTS but those could be placed anywhere, in any world, which by the "resorts made it a vacation world" logic, would make any of S3's worlds vacation worlds if they had a resort in them. IP also gave us ocean swimming and diving. While we could swim in other worlds, diving was problematic in other worlds.

Both S2 and S3 had more lots in the vacation worlds and you could even buy a vacation lot and live there. OR, while beautiful, has very few lots and none can be owned.

When we get a new vacation world, I don't want it to be a beach themed world because I want a beach themed residential world like IP. I want the vacation world to be something new that we haven't had yet and save the beach theme for a full EP world where our sims can live at the beach and frolic in the sun. Why do some of you want the beach to be limited to a smaller vacation world?

@Dannydanbo What would be new for you? A casino world, a theme park or a mountain resort that skiing would be the theme?

An Alpine vacation world would be fun. With winter activities like ice skating, snowball fights, snowman building, igloo building (igloo woohoo), etc. There could be cave exploring with the possibility to run into a Yeti. If it's setup like OR, you could snowshoe hike around the world, leaving little snowshoe prints behind. There could be a big community lodge/bar with a big circular fireplace to sit around and sip hot chocolate or other adult beverages. The caves for exploring could be a "special" lot that you reach via a hanging tram (like the boat, your sim disappears here and reappears there at the tram station, but others can be seen in the backgrounds).

A Dude Ranch vacation would be fun also. Set in a place like Death Valley, your sims can get their cowboy on. Western clothes and food, including a chuck wagon food cart and beans by the campfire. They could bring back the bucking bull ride, a shooting gallery for prizes and whack a prairie dog machine. Your sims could explore an old haunted ghost town and be spooked by the old prospector, who, if you befriend him, might give you a map to his gold mine. At his campsite, you can pan for gold, mostly fools gold but a chance of real gold, and explore deeper into the old mine (like the mausoleum rabbit hole) where good things or bad thing may happen to you. There would also be horseback riding as a group (if you came with a group) or take off on your own. On your own, there is a possibility of your horse being spooked by a rattlesnake and leaving you to walk back. Your sim can sleep in the bunkhouse or in a tent under the moonlight while the coyotes howl at the moon.

What is so great about swimming in the ocean? Diving was only in a few special locations that really all looked the same. I couldn't add a dive spot to any other world that ever worked very well. There's absolutely nothing to do in the ocean other than swim from point A to point B and usually my sim got so tired they couldn't finish. Give me one good reason for ocean swimming that provides any form of excitement, anything at all.

As for "resorts", I hated those TOWERS that had to be placed. They were empty shells and I've had enough empty shells in this game. Time for a change. I wanted smaller Bed and Breakfast type hotels that my sim could own and manage. Those resorts were over done, IMO. Any new vacation pack will have some way for sims to rent a place to sleep, like OR did.

Just because it hasn't been done in S4 yet doesn't mean it should be done in S4. We need new, fresh ideas along with some of the old standards like pets and seasons. Lets stretch ourselves with vacation spots and do something different.

Ocean swimming would have more interactions now like swimming in the pool eg sims could chat in the ocean. The towers weren't the only resorts. They had some premade ones that wasn't rabbitholes.

An Alpine world is something else I'd love to get as well.

There was only one that was small, the rest were towers, none of which your sim could interact with because they were rabbit holes.

Everything you named about ocean swimming, can be done in a natural pool. And if merpeople are the issue, they didn't even live in the ocean, they lived in the world on legs and changed into merpeople when they hit the water. If they add merpeople, they can live on land in a natural pool. You can easily place furniture (hopefully there would be ocean themed furniture) in the bottom of a pool and they could live under water quite easily. Some things would need to be done above water like cooking, but most of their living could be done underwater in the natural pool.

Imagine the island in Windenburg, on the largest lot, you could build a huge natural pool with living quarters for merpeople under water. There could be a small island in the center that looks like a small mountain but is hollow inside for a secret escape for the merpeople to hangout. A hidden cove. There could be an underwater kelp garden. Maybe they could add a pet sea creature in for fun.

I don't want a vacation pack if the Sims can't swim in the ocean. I can't believe that they still can't swim in the ocean or lakes etc. This is absolutely ridiculous in Sims 3 they were not only able to swim in the ocean but they could scuba dive and snorkel as well. Granite Falls is a joke as is the whole Sims 4.

We only got Ocean Swimming with the 8th Expansion Pack.

If they can swim in a swimming pool then at least we know that it is possible for them to swim elsewhere

Not necessarily. We build the pool for them to swim in due to programing, but that programing doesn't exist for other water locations. Like the backgrounds, the ocean may not be real so therefore, not programmable for swimming. It's the reason your sim can't walk across the street, because the "real" neighborhood ends there.

We got Ocean Swimming in theTS3 Pre Seasons Patch I believe. It was available to everyone with the base game once patched in.

I know this is an old thread, but I really do hope you are right! It's about time we got more vacation locations, I don't see the point of having a whole category for them if they're not planning on making more.

Clickbait thread. You could have said that it was speculation in the title.

I think anything posted in the 'Speculation and Rumors' section is gonna be...... ya know........ Speculation and Rumors! So no, they didn't need to include 'speculation' in the title. That's like announcing on Instagram "Just a heads up, this is an Instagram post..." before captioning your photo. It's pretty darn obvious.

I hope it's not a beach vacation. We've had that sooooo many times already. I want something different. And I don't get the NEED for swimming in the ocean. It's boring. We have pools, swim in those.

If we get Seasons next year, a tropical beach vacation would make sense after that, since some Sims will want to get away from the snow just like humans. It could be combined with casino content (and the ability to build your own casinos back in the home worlds) for more YA+ content (for those who think there's too much emphasis on family stuff since The Return Of the Toddlers) as well as those players who find their Sims have way too much money (imagine the storyline of a Sim gambling away all the money!). We've had gambling in numerous Sims games so it shouldn't up the age rating. Or maybe a Casino SP so people who really don't want gambling in their game don't feel like they have to miss out on a GP, and the GP can focus more on other parts of the beach experience; we could finally get lounge chairs, add new types of fish for ocean fishing, maybe a new collection like seashells and the ability to build sandcastles. And/or one of those metal detectors where you walk around and can dig up "treasures".

Since we couldn't build apartments, maybe we could get the ability to build and run small inns/bed and breakfasts both in the vacation world as well as back in the homeworld. Like restaurants, they could be run remotely (you wouldn't have to be there every day), but once in a while you get an alert from your resident manager that something's wrong or you notice on your financial reports that occupancy has plummeted and you're getting bad reviews on SimYelp! so you have to travel there to fix what's wrong (maybe you need more trash cans to handle all the litter, or your maintenance Sim quit and all the toilets are clogged) and get a more competent staff. Or maybe you get an alert from your manager that the tourists are complaining about nothing to do, and encourage you to add features depending what's in the pack and what packs you have; if you have OR then maybe you get a suggestion to add a horseshoe pit, or a basketball court if you have CL, or a sauna if you have Spa Day.

Or even just added a question mark: "A Vacation GP Coming in 2018?" I took it though as speculation since it's in this section, rather than in General Discussion or the Game Packs forums.

The Dude Ranch sounds awesome -- it would bring back horseback riding for the horse fans, plus the other features sound great as well. Maybe have enough empty lots for players to add their own features, like if a player with Dine Out wants to add an actual country style restaurant (could add recipes like fried chicken, biscuits n' gravy, beef stew, etc.) and harvestables like watermelon and corn. Or a player with Spa Day might add a rustic spa for their patrons. Another idea -- could add snakes that Sims can catch and take home (non-poisonous like garter snakes or maybe invent a Pygmy Python snake that doesn't grow super huge).

Totally agree! Some kind of vacationy type expansion like world adventures would be amazing! Still feel that sims 4 lacks a bit compared to sims 3 and this would definitely help it's case
