Background Noises At Least?

The game is too quite. There is no background noise, and too much music lacking on the stereo (Specifically rock or such) to make up for it. Even some fridge sounds would be good enough at this point.

When I wear my headphones, I can hear tons of background noises. When I am just using my speakers, I don't hear much of anything. I don't think I'd want fridge sounds and such those. Little, constant noises really irk me. We had a neighbor (IRL) that had his loud-piped pickup truck running outside, with the throttle revving for about an hour one day and while most in the house didn't even know it was there, I could hear it and it about drove me nuts. Granted, he was several houses down. I just don't do well with a constant noise. I only use my headphones every once in a while.

It could be neat, n the other hand. I feel like it could get overwhelming with too much going on.

I agree that more ambient noises could add quite a bit to the game. I think a refrigerator noise would get old after a while, but an occasional bird chirping or something would be nice.

I hear birds chirping, dogs barking, cars driving and the occasional sirens! I usually wear headphones and live in the city.. but I have always heard those types of background noises in the other towns too (well, no sirens lol)

I hear noises when my sim is outside, but inside, not so much. This is one of the reasons why I wish there were an option to leave the TV on. More in home noise will likely come with washers and dryers though.

I think a low hum from the fridge would be great. I love to hear the dishwasher when it's on, it's kind of relaxing. I guess we'll have more of it when laundry comes around. But what I really want is to be able to turn the TV on without having sims watching it. Whenever I'm at home, the TV is always on, sometimes I'm listening to it (specially the news) when I'm doing things around the house, other times it serves as background noise. Also, I don't turn off the TV when I go to the bathroom and then turn it back on a few minutes later. I'm disappointed there isn't a mod out there that let's you turn on the TV like you do with the stereo and I have a feeling the sims team will never add this option back.

I have a tendency to listen to either music (Christmas, currently) or talk radio while I play my game. I think ambient noises would create a bit of a cacophony. Besides, don't we hear barking, and an occasional cricket chirping already?

I have my game turned up quite loud and exclusively play wearing earphones so feel there's quite a bit of noise! I tend to play in the family room so not having music or anything in the background is pretty good, otherwise I miss people attempting to talk to me (cue complaining and being prodded endlessly in the nearest limb they can reach).

Haven't you played sims 2? It had really nice ambiance noises, including a fridge one and I personally didn't find it irritating. Hmm..

I like the crispy wood in the fireplace. It makes me want a fireplace in every household. I also like the bird feeder sound in the garden when i let my sims sit on the yar in the early evening to relax after a long day. Those sounds make the game for me! Love them!

I love the ambient noises in the game - I'm also on headphones, and turned the Sims voices down a bit in options so I can keep the overall volume higher. I love the different sounds objects make on surfaces. I wouldn't like to have a refridgerator hum in the game because it might trigger my tinnitus. (Some IRL fridges will hit the right tone for that. And I don't want to have to lose all the ambient noise because one triggers my tinnitus.)

I began this obsession with Sims2! I know I've heard sounds in Sims4, too. And, no, I'm NOT crazy.

They talk about the sound of the glass breaking. If that's not an ambient noise …

Correction: I know there ARE sounds in the game clearly but I'm referring to when sims are doing a noise-less thing INDOORS. It's literally dead silent

    @FurSimsOriginal
Is that a specific fireplace? I have a ''modern'' one and I haven't heard it make a single sound. Well except when it caught fire and sims started screaming and panicking all over the place.

I use a CC one but i doubt that this was implanted in the file. Dont even think thats possible. I think i heard it with the standard ones too. But only when i zoom in very close and stay side of it. Probably why you havent heard it :)

Not everything in life makes a noise. What I do enjoy, is I was just in my game and the children are all outside. Friday night and their parents have taken the two dogs for a short walk. Two of the children are sitting atop the Jungle gym and the eldest boy was coming around the front of the house. Passing by the landscaping I could hear crickets — the actual sounds of that bug — (not dead silence). And when the garden is left a bit too long, I can hear the buzzing of the flies/bees. I have to take a hard listen to the dishwasher, but I do believe we can hear that. I know I've heard a child's foot steps inside as they walk across the bare hardwood floors. We most certainly can hear the water from a broken faucet as it splatters onto the floor. I'm uncertain what it is you're missing, OP. What sounds are you looking for?

I just know that there was a large difference when I played the Sims 2 the other day compared to 4. Personally I don't much care for the children as I'm tired of hearing the same animations of the jungle gym that's been since day one and is not very in depth
