Hello, all! I'm having trouble with that bug again. Buy/Build mode is grayed out and I can't save because "[y]ou cannot do this while a Sim is aging up." I had to quit without saving. I'm currently repairing the game.

I also had an issue the other day where I removed my Mods folder to check for something, but the game didn't create a new one. I ended up moving my old Mods folder back, but I'm not entirely sure if it has the Mods content that it's supposed to, or if it's even being used by the game. It says it was last modified on 11/11/2017. This is concerning me, but I don't know how to fix it or how to figure out if my game is running the mods from someone else. Because of this additional issue, I don't even know how to empty my Mods folder, and I will probably need someone to walk me through it.

While this is great practice for distress tolerance, I would like someone to help me.

With your missing mods folder , try using the search bar on your computer to find it. I think that you posted on another thread that you don’t use One Drive, but if you do now, unsync Sims 4 and One Drive.

I have no idea how to send a save file to EA. How do you do it?

Yeah, I don't know. When I searched for "Mods," this is the result I got. (There doesn't appear to be any identifiable information on this screenshot, but if there is, please let me know and I will remove it.



Two of them were modified on 11/11/2017 at 2:55 pm; the top one was modified on the same day at 2:56 pm. I have no idea what the bottom one is, or why I can't find it.

I gotta tell you, Rosemow, this is a really painful process for me. I feel like such a...well, something that is censored to "plum" and means "incompetent person." It's really embarrassing to even come and ask for help.

With your mods folder, try checking in game to see if the mods that you have in the Documents -Electronic Arts -sims 4 -mods folder, show up in your game .

Okay, so it says I can attach a Save file to a forum post. Does that mean here, in this thread? No, I'm assuming it's on a specified post? Maybe an outside website? Do I need to make a separate account for that site, or will my EA login work?

I'm also not sure how to check in game to see if that Mods folder in my Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 4 is being used.

You can attach the save file to a post in the AHQ EA site thread that I posted the link to. Your EA log in will work there.

With the mods folder, if you have a cc item such as clothing, check to see if the clothing item is in cas for your sim to wear.

Okay, when I try to attach the file, it says it's an "Unsupported extension type." What gives?

Also, I don't know if I have any Mods in my folder or not, to be honest. I may have removed them. Should the folder be completely empty if I'm playing with no Mods?

It would be best to make a post on the thread and explain the issues that you are having.They will help you there.

If you are playing without mods, the mods folder will only have a resource.cfg file in it.

So I do have three mods in my folder--no weight gain, and two versions of "Show Sim Info" for some reason. I am 99% positive that both are inactive. Also, two of them--the no weight gain one and one of the "Show Sim Info" ones--are compressed. I'm not sure how to fix this.

It would be best to remove those mods. They would not have been working because they needed to be unzipped. If you want to use the mods, it would be best to go to their download sites, and download the latest update versions. On the download sites, they explain how to install them.

Yes, you can just delete them from your mods folder.

Done. All that's left is Resource.cfg. I guess I play the waiting game now, and see if it happens again or not. Talk about paranoia fuel....

I haven't had the opportunity to test this, but on the EA Answers site, someone said that using the cas.fulleditmode cheat, then shift-clicking a Sim to "Modify in CAS" will make that problem go away when you return to normal play. Again, the only way I could test it would be for this glitch to happen again--and I'm hoping it doesn't. But if this does work, that would be great, because you wouldn't have to lose your saved data.

But if it does happen, and that workaround works, I will post about it here. If anyone happens to know, please do the same.

Hi. I have the same problem. But on top of not being able to build etc I'm not being able to save either. So how should I send a save game file to EA when I can't save?

You can go to your Documents -electronic arts -sims 4 - saves folder, and your saves files are there. The Develpers will be able to do tests running your save game.

Guys, I found a solution, but it's kind of a pain in the butt. I'm going to send my save file to EA anyway, but I don't know how much good it will do if the problem is "fixed" (more or less).

To solve the problem, you simply need to age up another Sim. Now, most of you aren't going to want to age up your Sims early, so what I did was enable testing cheats ("testingcheats on"), then shift-click some rando on the street and select "Add to Family." Have someone bake a cake and add candles, then age up the rando. Afterward, you can enter CAS (with "cas.fulleditmode" on), and delete them. It's anoying, but it's better than not being able to save.

I did upload my my save to Box, although I don't know if there was any point to it, since you can't save your game while the glitch is occurring. How do you fix something like that? No wonder it hasn't been fixed yet. Although I never had this problem until the most recent patch, it's apparently been a regular thing for as long as the game's been out.

Okay, this is still happening, and it should not be happening. This is ridiculous. I have paid a LOT of money for this game and all its DLC. I cannot send saves to EA because nobody's explanations as to how to do it are making any sense, and people are acting like I'm stupid for not understanding it, or that I'm not trying hard enough to figure out how to do it. (Not on this board, but on other websites.)

I'm trying to save every hour, but sometimes I forget, so I lose a large chunk of the day, and with it, that day's progress. I should NOT have to save every hour just in case this bug happens. EA needs to get off their butts and stop making ludicrously expensive DLC that nobody wants, and work on fixing this major issue that a ton of people are having.

I've tried to be patient and understanding, but I'm at the end of my rope here. I really do not want to stop playing; I have been a Simmer since generation one and I love Simming.

Please, please get on the ball with this. I'm not talking to anyone in particular. (Rosemow, I know you're not affiliated with anyone at EA, and you have been a huge help. This isn't an attack on you.) I'm just frustrated and I don't know what to do anymore.

If you are wanting to send the save game, upload the save game file to OneDrive or Box.com.
Then go to the wall of the SimQARobo or SimGuruNick here on these forums, and send him a pm with the link address of the file in the message,

I apologize for my previous post. I know that there are many other things EA is working on, and I don't blame the individual SimGurus. I'm more frustrated with EA overall, with the way they've been acting lately regarding DLC and prices. I feel that if I'm going to be paying a lot of money for something (and, contrary to what my previous post implied, I don't have every single pack released for TS4), I should at least not get game-breaking bugs at all, let alone with such frequency. I don't feel like that is an unreasonable expectation.

There may be fixes for some of the issues in the next upcoming patches. There may perhaps be a patch next week.

I've tried everything. Reseting individual sims, hard resets, aging up randoms. It's not working. You can't do anything when this bug hits and it has hit almost all my save files at some point.
