Long time sims 3 builder here, figured it was about time I started a large sims 4 build endeavour. I utilised CFE dramatically in sims 3 for almost all my builds, so I had to learn a whole new style for Sims 4. At first I was disappointed without the CFE function, however, it is interesting though without it because it has forced me to consider a lot of aspects like roofing and layout and a ton of small things that truly bring a build to life that I never did in sims 3.

My goal is to get to the Maxis Faves list with one of my builds haha :)

Edit!: So I decided to redo my showcase thread entirely. I put all the old stuff in spoilers. I will instead link a main picture for all my completed builds in this first message :) I gave up on the castle for now until I can muster the time to work on such a massive build haha. My origin id is norekp in case anyone wanted it!

I also began a new challenge for myself after started my latest Cape Cod style build for the holidays. I realised each was a new architectural style. So I decided to continue the pattern from now on if I could haha. The first build was modern, the second French Baroque, then Mediterranean and lastly Cape Cod (not including the middle age style of the castle haha).

So here are my finished builds:

Here's some of my old Sims 3 stuff in case you're wondering what I meant by focused only on CFE haha:

And here was my very first attempt at a house in Sims 4 when I first bought the game when it was released haha (feel like I have come a long way since then and am ready to try some actual decent builds):
309oq35.png

Here's the start of my first large build now, I am modelling it after the Drachenburg Castle (Harry Potter yay haha). Of course I realised after I already built most of the structure that for whatever dumb reason the sims 4 doesn't have conical or dome roofs, so I had to improvise. It likely won't qualify for the Maxis Faves though as I didn't realise about flickering until well after I started it. As you can see there's a ton of MOO haha.

Feel like the exterior is almost done. Can't decide though on which side should be the entrance, both the front and back look entrance worthy haha. Also can't seem to decide on which conical/tower roof to go with, created 3 different patterns/styles. Lastly I'm wondering if the foundation part is too large. The actual castle was built on sloped land to it seemed more fitting there but here I can't tell haha. Any advice is appreciated :)

Hello :) It is great that you have started a showcase thread for your Sims 4 Builds! :) Your Sims 3 homes are very creatively designed! The exterior design, layout and roofing of the new Castle WIP build looks so very grand! I have posted about it on the other threads.
I will add a link to your showcase thread on the Builders showcase links thread.

I will repost here what I wrote on the other thread
The Parisian Style home that you built for the request looks very nice! :) The design of it looks very elegant! Very nice roofing! The type of windows used and the placement of them looks very nice! The balcony type windows looks very effective! The roof trimming looks very nice how it is used in the build. The knights, dog sculptures and top hat statues look great on the upper level balconies and ledges! The plants are nice touches on the edges of the home. The curved railing either sides of the front steps looks very nice.
It is a very nice Parisian Style home!
You may like to post the link to the build on the website gallery version in your post. This is a link to the gallery site.
    https://www.thesims.com/en_GB/gallery

You can search for your build using the search bar on the top left hand side of the screen either by title, origin Id or hashtag . Then, click on the build and a new pop up screen will appear. You can then copy and paste the website page address.

I love how you did the roofs in that QC entry, how you can see the other roof through the windows. I can definitely see a TS3 vibe. Good luck! It looks absolutely amazing!

The exterior design of the Modern Mansion and layout of the build looks so very great ! :) You have captured the modern theme so very well! The roofing looks so very great! Very nice pool area! The water fountain feature is very nice in the pool. It is a special touch that you have created a rock waterfall near the garage. Very nice roof covered water feature area in the front entrance area to the home. The way that you have done the green upper patio areas looks very nice! Very nice layout and furnishing of the interior of the home! It is such a very detailed, fully featured home!
It is such a very nice and very creatively designed modern home! :)

@reanseih Thank you! Actually until you pointed it out just now I didn’t even realise you could see the wooden walls of the other roofs through the windows haha. I likely could’ve built a living space up there but I felt the house was already quite big haha, but I’m glad it looks okay now :)

    @rosemow Thank you!

Wow, absolutely stellar builds, both for Sims 3 & 4! B) And with your Parisian cityhouse and your modern mansion you tackled two very different styles, but rocked both equally, fantastic job! <3

@Corwim Thank you so much :) I do like trying new build styles haha, it allows for new challenges!

Btw, all your sims are so attractive haha. I can never get any I create to be decent looking, except maybe the toddlers but they're so adorable in general it is hard not to make them work haha.

Small edit to the Modern Mansion, I finally figured out what to do with that empty walkway in the tower haha. Anyway I redid the Gallery link so it is correct now and here's some pictures :)

@rosemow thank you! :) It is quite sunny haha.

@Corwim I wasn't going to say anything but your males are definitely better haha! And thank you :) When I looked at that walkway it just seemed like gym especially for a modern build was appropriate haha.

@equuest Thank you! I feel you are going to like my next build, the landscaping and exterior detail are the most I have ever done for any build haha.

Edit: Finished build is on next page :)

So I finalllllllllly finished my Parisian house after spending way too much time on it. It is likely the most time I have ever spent on details both exterior and interior. What's amazing is that what started off as a build request from @Amiutza has definitely become my favourite thing I have ever build, and likely my most complete build so far haha. I haven't linked it to the gallery yet because there are 3 or 4 pathing issues I must fix and I have no idea how, so if anyone knows how (I will point them out in the pictures) please let me know.

I also took waaaay too much pictures as this was my first time using tab mode in Sims 4 haha. So apologies in advance if it is a bit crazy.

I called the build "When Baroque Met Modern," and here's the gallery description I wrote: #noCC #modern #French #Baroque #Renaissance #mansion #family #flowerbed #undergroundpool #Parisian #hometheatre #balcony #openfloorplan #waterfall #statues #winecellar #attic When Ms. Baroque met Mr. Modern it was amour at first sight! But they couldn't decide on a style, thus a compromise: buy a Baroque house and replace the inside with ultra-modern furnishings! Who wants 17th century appliances anyway? Ms. Baroque, though, couldn’t give up her beloved style and snuck in a Baroque woman-cave!

Because women can have man-caves too, but just classier :) Now those two crazies have moved to the French country so the home is free to explore and take care of :) I spent a crazy amount of time making all sorts of tiny nooks in this build and tried to make it all tie back into this story of two clashing styles haha.

Ok I'm likely writing too much and should just get to the pictures haha.
    View from ground level:
    808702503e707dd56a8149f02943887f59c0861b155d1189ec8fe5733d1cfa9681130080.jpg

Standard view: Here's the first pathing issue. Sims cannot get into either of the two garden nooks. This is the weirdest pathing issue, and I'm not sure what is going on with it. It might be caused by the ground being covered by lily of valley squares, but I know for a fact that sims can walk over this grass. What's even weirder is if I remove one of the lily of the valley squares from under the right arch, then the sim can go and walk to the bench and sit, just 1 square... so weird.

Garden nook with waterfall, one of my favourite parts, took forever to make, but alas sims cannot get to it at the moment haha:
    956475814faa3dc617fc2f7ee2154acaca48d39365db8065169deef796699a14d26280c6.jpg

Front and rear roof accents, these were definitely my favourite part of the entire build, just adore that European style of building statues into the exterior walls. Can also see the balconies here with a sitting and meditation area, quiet places to get away from all the bustle going on outside. The front accent I call the Winged Ballerina, and the rear the Winged Knight haha (yes I got super excited when I saw an item that could work as wings from Dine Out, and could work as waves! I couldn't decide between wings or waves so now they are wings with ships sailing on them haha):

Now for the inside! Which goes to ultra-modern style. First the dining area:

    The super long kitchen:

The theatre-esque living room. Here's the next patching issue. Sims cannot turn on the tele or sit in the raised chairs. I'm guessing raising a chair with 9/0 makes it unusable so I know how to fix that. My question for the tele is, I built it on the foundation to look cool, but it seems like that means sims cannot use it. Is there a way to make this work? Do I need to build stairs somewhere? It isn't like sims actually walk up to the tele to turn it on, so I'm very confused why pathing matters here.

Overview of basement floor. This part is quite cool because this is where the "woman-cave" is haha, which is the only Baroque style indoors. I created a path which splits to Baroque on one side and modern on the other, which I felt symbolised the build overall quite well haha. And of course there's the wine cellar, which is always good lol:
    48039635b4415234f009c625f93d56bf4e73878ecc8d279bc751a74aa04b0160e5b7dafc.jpg

And here's that clashing style hallway, modern to the left and Baroque to the right haha:

Pool restroom, going to actually have to redo this as sims cannot get around the sinks, I'm guessing they require at least a tile to move haha:

First floor aerial, decided a colour scheme felt like it fit the modern style haha:

Second floor overview, here's the last pathing issue. Sims cannot seem to move around in the music nook area. It seems to be the circular chandeliers, which is annoying because they fit so well and I didn't want to have to remove them. Any idea why they block pathing being on the ceiling?
Also I built windows in the gable accent roofs, but it doesn't seem like there's a way to connect a roof wall with actual walls so that the floor could use those windows. I recall in sims 3 we could do this. Is there a way to do so in sims 4?

:) The background details story is great! Very nice combination of the two styles in the build! It is a very detailed home! The Baroque design of the exterior looks so very nice! Very nice garden nooks! The modern style furnishing of the interior looks very nice! Very nice feature areas! It is very special that there is a baroque female man cave! The design of the tv watching area with the placement of the armchairs looks very nice! Very nice indoors pool room! I have enjoyed seeing the WIP photoss on the other thread, and it is extra nice to see the finished build.
It is very special home ! :)

    @rosemow thank you!

@amiutza Alas it is not on the gallery yet. I'm trying to fix 4 pathing issues before I link it to the Gallery. I can let you know when I do :) I'm glad you like it haha! Did you ever end up furnishing the shell from before? I'm interested to see how we furnished differently haha, so many options for Styles and based on your tumblr picture, you are so skilled at interior design, I often struggle with it redoing parts over and over haha.
