Chaos triplets

«1
Just wanted to say, finally got a chance to really sit down and try playing a family with toddlers. Got two parents. Was planning to have the girl get pregnant, have a kid or two, raise them to adulthood, etc., to experience Parenthood fully.

So I got the girl pregnant, when she gave birth I was like... oh wow, twins. Then a third one came. Oh wow, this is going to be chaos... triplets. I aged them all up to toddler since baby doesn't really have any character progression.

Now I have two parents trying to take care of three toddlers. It's sheer chaos and a constant balancing of watching needs to make sure they all stay high. Neither of the parents are working at the moment, so that helps, but if they were, I'd so need the tots going to daycare. Cause the parents are getting virtually no free time.

It's overwhelming and crazy, but I love it. Most of the time the gameplay feels too easy, so this is a nice change and the tots are just so adorable.

Glad you are finding the tots adorable!

Do you have a schedule? Like for waking, sleeping, eating etc to help get you through it?

Toddler gameplay is hard and I love it. I have been recently been playing large households with a lot of kids and tots and I like the challenge. I'll probably try playing a small household to try something new and explore the game more but for now I like playing with huge households.

So far, not really. I've pretty much been playing it in a "one moment to the next" kind of way. I've adopted a sort of strategy of trying to get all the tots to sleep at around roughly the same time and then give the parents a chance to sleep then... but not on a schedule exactly, more just once they start getting in the yellow for Energy. With eating, I just cook a giant plate of food and slap it on the floor for them to go grab when they need it.

One thing I noticed, having a dollhouse in the home seems to do a lot for attention and fun getting taken care of without me planning it out. They go for it a lot and then the parents get called over to join them. Sometimes it can be annoying how often they go for it, but I've yet to have a moment where a tot was low on attention or fun, so that certainly helps.

Yeah, small households is usually how I play. I think the main difference I find is in the game leading me vs. me leading it. With a big household with numerous tots, you kinda have to adapt to the sort of survival mode of the game, trying to keep peoples' needs in check. With a small household, especially with only adults, you often have to pick what to do next because the needs are easily managed and often without you even getting involved, so there's not a lot to push you in any particular direction. At least, that's been my experience so far. :)

Can you only get triplets if you download the toddler stuff pack? Or is it not necessarily needed?

    Hello.
It is special that your sims had triplets! <3 It is great that you are enjoying having the toddlers in the midst of the busyness of family life. It is a challenge but also fun! :)

Ah I see. Yes, not using the highchairs is my #1 tip to save parenting stress, so it's good that you got a plate of food for them to take from.

I, personally, find having a schedule and rotating them between each parent and chatting to the giant teddy helps keep them feeling socialised. Balancing triplets is hard work though! I feel for you. Glad you're enjoying it.

I really think like toddlers became easier since the sims 2, if I had triplets there, I just started crying

This made me smile :) just keep going and eventually it will get easier, once you get the hang of it. I love playing with big households and I can now even play with child twins and toddler triplets without too much trouble.

Tots crazyness can be fun at least though I do like that you can make it as much as a challenge or free as you like, some tots are hard for me because I want them to know more every child is different and all then some only need to learn a bit. I have taken to leaving them in one dragging food to them and having them bounce between the blocks, a toy, the tablet and family time. Keeps thing going smooth.

the next challenge: pets and toddlers. specifically i'm thinking an untrained, un-potty trained puppy! plus a few toddlers. I plan to add to my apartment the gremlins lot trait :D:D:D:D just to make it more challenging

sounds fun! And i mean it. This is what i loved about previous game. Something to be busy with and total chaos like its real life! I cant wait untill my baby grows up as a toddler and the new one is coming any time soon now. Too bad their elder sister is already a kid and missed her toddler stage, cause the patch came later.

I was wondering because normally things like that aren't added through stuff packs and it struck me as odd.

I recommend getting the tablets, they can keep the toddlers occupied for hours and it builds up their skills. Also get their potty skills to level two as soon as you can, because they can use the potty themselves. It is also smart to have them have a lot of toys, like the dollhouse. Keep lullabies playing in their room(s) since it helps with nightmares. I also have the parents play with them a couple times a day for their attention meter.

I would love to see the ability for our own sims to run their own daycare come back and be expanded on. Can you imagine the chaos?? But it would be so much fun if you're a glutton for punishment like I am :D You could have a room for babies, a room for toddlers and a room for children. Hire staff to work each room. Set rates for care...that would be amazing!

That sounds fun but scary at the same time. I've only ever had twins in the game, which meant the apartment was ruined and the parents got no freetime or a chance to sort out their needs lol.

If you can get them to sleep through the night, that helps. If the parent reads the toddler to sleep, they won't get nightmares. Getting the Thinking skill up also helps as it reduces the frequency of nightmares and also reduces how often they throw tantrums and defy their parents when trying to teach them things or play with them.

The dollhouse changed with the Parenthood pack where the toddlers can now autonomously summon a parent to play with them at the dollhouse (also for watching TV or dancing but those happen less often). That was bugging me too...got really bad during 7 toddler challenges. If you use mods, I found a good mod which will prevent the toddler from summoning the parent to the dollhouse or there's a version where they can only do it once every 24 hours: http://littlemssam.de/no-autonomous-picker-dollhouse-tv-dance/ The toddler will still play with the dollhouse so that part isn't impacted at all.

It would be good if you could carry more than one baby at the same time and I think having toddlers in the highchair is cute but it is so much hard work.

I haven’t had true triplets in my game yet, but the closest I’ve come is when a couple of mine adopted a daughter and then had twins themselves.
Now, the family of five live in a small, two bedroom apartment. Both parents have jobs; Dad is a doctor and Mom is a teacher, so they’re both pretty busy with their three growing toddlers.

I had triplets in my game once and just loved watching their interactions. The girl was sassy and was often mean with her brothers
but they didn't mind and just smiled adoringly. I found having them toilet trained and able to walk up stairs got rid of a lot of chaos
and I never use the high chairs I just put a bench next to the dining table, that way they can all eat in one place.

I recommend letting babies age up normally because you can gain parenting skill by taking taking of them and that's super easy.

    @kemisz
Not the OP, but as I like to say it, this is my personal toddler schedule that evolved from all toddlers I ever had:

Toddler want food, so you feed toddler.
Toddler want bed, so you put toddler in bed.
Toddler want bath, so you put toddler in bathtub.
Toddler want potty, so you put toddler on potty. And be happy when toddler can go by himself/herself.
Toddler want fun, so you play with toddler.
Toddler want nothing, so you teach toddler to speak until you fall unconscious. Partner meanwhile calls maid to clean house (will be needed!).

Is of course difficult with 3 toddlers. But not impossible.

Just very likely that your Sim parents never manage to sleep in their bed again.

You may need to sell their bed anyways so you can afford having someone come over to repair appliances and clean the house.
