Laptop Shuts down Help PLEASE

The problem started when Origin wouldn't open or the sims launcher. Wasn't sure how to fix this problem so I re-downloading Origin a few times, each time I wanted to play sims I had to download origin. I also removed CASpartCache.package,compositorCache.pachage, ScriptCache.package,simsCompositorCache.package and socialCache.package. . Uninstalled Origin completely and re downloaded, now the sims launcher opens no problem but it shuts down every time. Will get as far as picking a family and once its loaded and the house pops on the screen my laptop shuts down. Underneath gets extremely hot so I prop it up with a few books. Didn't fix the issue. Also tried removing the battery and just using the charger but that didn't work neither. Iv run out of ideas to fix this problem and I just want to play sims 3 please help!

    @iloveafi Hello, :)
    I'm not an expert, but I understand that overheating may make your laptop shut down to protect it's components. Propping it up on books may not be enough, you may need a cooling pad made for laptops.

    ^ yup.
    Also, you may want to look at getting your internal laptop fan cleaned or looked at, as that may be causing the overheating as well.

    @iloveafi - Is this the laptop you are still using?

    When a laptop shuts down completely with no warning, it is a built-in last ditch effort to prevent it from melting down (or blowing up). Usually meltdowns are not quite that dramatic, but it can happen. It means that internal temperatures have reached such a high point that if it continued to run, it would sustain permanent damage if it hasn't already.

    If the game played better than this before without all of the overheating, I would have to agree that its internal cooling system might be failing mechanically. Could be a fan that is no longer operating or yes, it could be clogged with dust. For laptops, a professional would have to open it up to clean it properly and examine the cooling system to make sure it's working at all. Cooling pads are great, but from what you have described it sounds like that would be what to consider after it's cleaned and repaired (if needed), not to get it working now.

    I will have to point out again though, that this laptop, if we're still talking about the same one, barely meets the requirements to run the game. The heavier EPs (Pets, Seasons, IP, ITF) are going to cause it to strain as will running the game on higher graphics settings in Game Options or on higher resolutions. You have no dedicated graphics card in there and its RAM is tight. It is possible, besides a fan failing or the dust thing, that it is now aging out on you. Forcing hardware to run a program/game that it was not designed to do can cause that to happen much sooner than otherwise, I'm afraid.
