Tray, Mods, and Saves Missing/Empty.

I fired up my game today only to find that Sims 4 is acting as if I've never played before. Every sim since day one: gone, every build: gone, anything I've ever saved to the gallery: gone. Mods are also gone. I've checked my files (Documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 4) and they're completely empty. Even my screenshots are gone.

Is there any fixing this? What could have happened? I have already attempted to repair the game.

Do you use One Drive? If you do, check to see if your Sims 4 folder is there.
If it isn't, try searching on your computer to see if the tray, mods and saves folder are located somewhere else.

I don't use OneDrive. After searching, I still haven't found any duplicate folders containing my information.

I am so sorry that you have this issue Do you have much free space on the hard drive where your sims 4 game is installed ? If you haven't, that could be the cause of the issue.

There's really not anything else on my hard drive except sims. Tons of free space. I've lost saves before, but I've never lost an entire game. I knew something was definitely wrong when it started giving me the helpful hints when I loaded up today.

I tried both methods on the blog post, but neither of them solved the problem.

I am so sorry that this has occurred to you
You would have checked the recycling bin? If you haven't , try checking there.

I was playing my game, saved the one file and exited to go into another file and now I can't start a new or load an existing file.


I don't know what to do. all my files are in the saves folder, there is no cache in that folder.

Please Help this SIMMER !!!!

I will quote it here

Follow these steps to get your old saves and the load/new buttons back:

Close the game
Go to this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves and make sure that your old saves are still there. If not, follow the steps above.
Make a copy of the folder to a safe place (flash drive, external hard drive, a different place on your hard drive, …)
Start the game
Click on the big Play-button
If you’re taken to CAS, create a random Sim and place him into a house
If you’re taken to the map, place the Sim into a house
Close the game (it’s not important if you save or not but make sure you don’t overwrite your old saves if you do save)
Start the game. The buttons should be back
Klick on Load and a list of your all your saves should appear. Load the one you want to play. You can delete the new one.
After that you should be good to go and all should be back to normal.
