Last year the new school year began on August 17th. This year 'Back to School Night' was on August 17th. This is where this particular school finishes up enrolling the children. So, I had it in my head school could start as early as the following Monday, which is the 21st or the Monday
after that. Sadly, I put that out of my head for a time. Son gets home from this event last evening. So I asked, "When does school begin." He said, Monday, as in
this coming Monday. (So, at least my instincts were correct.) Today, is my 'last' day of Summer, if you will, where my schedule is MINE. (I'm one of those people who requires time to myself, to pursue that which I desire, and to do things on my own schedule, else I get cranky, much.) Not excusing myself, just stating the facts. At least I know who I am.
School starting when it does, shouldn't have come as much of a shock, but it's disconcerting anyway. My 'golden years' are being used up by babysitting my grandson. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I should be glad for that very short time period wherein I could just pick up and accompany my hubby on his business trips. He's on one now, but I'm here because I'm babysitting. It's been at least three years.
I do have one thing to be truly grateful for, however. This summer I actually had some REAL time off! Pity, I managed to squander it.(Son got laid off, too, so he quite naturally looked after his son.) I should have had my laid-off hubby drive me down to the Family History Library, and then pick me up. (Parking is only available in a public parking lot, and cach—ing, it costs!) Oh, well. This just means that Fall and Winter are on the horizon.
I love Winter and I love the snow! And on the fourth day of school, the new SP will drop.
