I just don´t get, why they have to change the forum again after all that fuss only a month (or something?) ago.
And why is everything from Sims 3 now labeled "child"?
Makes me feel childish enough, to consider a tantrum. :/

@GalacticGal - I grew up with Next Generation and Deep Space Nine and love them dearly. I also like the Original series, but... not as much. :#

I got jumped on when I suggested using "Sub Categories" in a much earlier post when they started to use the term. I was told that nowadays Parent and Child categories are used.

@GalacticGal Sims 4 is tested against Windows 10 so it does work well with it but watch out for the 1st Tuesday in the month updates from Microsoft and install them before anything new you get from Origin.

(I've dusted off my older 8.1 laptop and started playing "The Sims" again just for nostalgia's sake).

I don't mind them changing it but feel for your issue @GlacticGal.
Seems like any new product under the Sims name will have a place here and I expect that. I also expect the version I'm playing to be pushed to another section when they've finished it's production also.

It is the EA staff that has been reorganizing the forums. That's north of Guru status. A couple of them are bouncing around on this forum still, recognizable from their shiny EA badges. You might be able to catch one and give a piece of your mind if you're feeling punchy. I'd advise against it, but that's up to you.

Nah I won't entertain the idea, but it's extreeeeeeeemely annoying for them to be so indecisive like this.

I've administrated forums and maintained forum structures in other forum communities, but I never changed things on this frequency because I had the users' best interest at hand.

I've had experience running my own website. Used to host a Star Trek Simm. Created the website from scratch and maintained it. I get that a lot goes into it. I have first-hand knowledge. I just found myself feeling a tad confused when I first saw it. Not needing to put anybody down. Just wanted to vent, is all. It's been a rough week. However, I just discovered how to download things into my game on Windows 10, although I may have to delete and start again. Either that or some of my cc is broken and therefore won't allow the mod to work. :( I tried to copy the cc onto a flash drive and from there load it into the new Mod file. Oh, well. This just isn't my week — with the exception I had a great weigh-in!

I hear you. I thought I was in 'general' but then noticed at the Top it does say General but it's for forum feedback...sigh...when is this place gonna sort itself out? And instead of me asking on a different thread, just while it's on my mind why are all the new website devs team from EA's site, all multi player type gamers? Don't we have any Simmers who worked over in Answer.com? And if they are all over here, now, who is running Answer.com for EA?..just my usual mutterings.

You can ask, but I had no idea the new website devs were multi player. How does one come by such information? I think I'm going to need a wireless mouse for my laptop. It IS a touchscreen, but I can't stand all the fingerprints. Oh, sorry, did I type that out loud? :p

Here is a link that's just located right at the top of the Forum Ideas and Feedback section that is an introduction from the new EA_teammembers.

LOL, Yeah I noticed they keep on pushing TS3 categories down further and making the other older titles section smaller and smaller.
Well, support and development for The Sims 3 ended about 4 years ago. EA is more prominently featuring its current Sims titles. That's business.

    @OEII1001
So? Your point? I just said I noticed it got pushed down. Obviously ts3 is no longer in development. That's business.

My point, as you have hopefully read, is that this is the natural progression of things. I wouldn't expect to see the a Baldur's Gate section featured prominently on Bioware's forum.

My take is that this forum as an whole is "Under New Management" effective, apparently August 1st. There are and will be more than a "couple" EA enforcers wandering about this forum and moderating it.

While it may be unfair of me to be apprehensive, they all appear to hail from or operate out of Europe, which in and of itself is fine but it does lend an air of distance and disconnection. However, that alone is not a pressing issue for Yours Truly, as where I came from originally, there were no "games" at all.

    I have digressed.

My trepidation derives from the fact that all these new ladies and gentlemen-- not only are not "in-studio" as were the sim gurus, they will be patrolling all EA forums. All their games and, well, what would someone who specialises and takes primary interest in, let's say, an online, multi-player EA product honestly have to contribute to those of us who play lowly Sims?

This gives me the early impression that this new strike force has descended upon us to primarily maintain Law and Order and cast out malcontents and rabble-rousers. I apologise if I upset any apple carts but these are my feelings and opinions at this early stage of the new Sim Forum Government.

I realise and acknowledge this is a free service from EA but I feel as though an era has come to an end.

I am not sure that contributing to the discussion of The Sims series is part of their job. They're here to keep the peace and enforce the rules. If what you have postulated comes to pass then it would seem that they aren't around to be front men for Maxis. That's what the gurus are for. One does not need to be a bona fide Sims enthusiast to keep people from burning the forums down. And to be blunt about it, I would welcome some additional law and order around these parts.

Funny, my point I was so badly trying to make is if you don't play The Sims and possibly never have then how could you relate (if you were in charge on a forum) of how and what is important to Simmers? But what do I know. :p ETA: Their profiles are listed in a new introduction thread on July 31st. Don't get me wrong we will see how productive this move is, when the forum gets corrected with where they put threads and topics etc.

@OEII1001 I apologise, it likely did not show in my written "tone", so to speak, but I was being more than a little facetious. Indeed more oversight of some of the more problematic areas of the forum will be a welcome addition, but the trepidation I had expressed was more on account of the arrival of a band of individuals "north of" the usual simgurus and simstaff who were watching the boards for rules violations.

Perhaps it's "just me", I do not find it particularly easy to be comfortable around "da bosses" (as I believe an expression goes.)

And indeed I was aware of the introduction written by EA_Mage that their role is only to keep the peace and order in here. I trust ordinary maxis sim-gurus will still be around to answer Sim-specific queries on the boards more than by PM. Inboxes can become unwieldy in a very short period of time.
