I am in need of flower names. I am attempting a ten generation legacy where each of the sims are named after flowers. It has also gotten to a point that there are a lot of family members now. Will you please tell me some of your favorite flowers? I may find flowers that I have never heard of or that I completely forgot of. Thank you!
Edit: You can include flowering trees or trees in general if you like. At this point, I will need many names. And I wouldn't mind if you mention why you like them. I find it interesting to know.
Daffodils are my favorite (especially white ones with the yellow trumpet shaped corona). I like the name, I like the mythology that surrounds it, I like the way they look when they bloom, and most of all, I like that they blossom near the winter when most nothing else is alive.
Hiya @Otoyo! Here's some names that I like (I know some might be just plants in general, but you might like them)
(I searched some up online. I just love nature/plant related names for people!)
Lilac
Lavender
Sage
Basil
Juniper
Violet
Chrysanthemum (there's a children's book about a little girl with this name.)
Iris
Lily
Fern
Ash (as in the tree)
Rose, Rosetta, Rosa, etc.
Petunia
Aspen
Willow
Dahlia
Fennel
Daisy
Sakura
Ivy
Alder
Zinnia
Acacia
Jasmine
Briar
...there's so many great ones!
....and now I've found a super cool list online of plant/flower names I like. AHHHH I can use them all for my Pokemon and Sims AHHHHH!
@Lyoufln Thank you so much! Many of these names I had completely over looked (like Jasmines which have such beautiful smells or Iris which is a lovely flower named after a Greek goddess) and some I did not know were flowers (like Lilac which I googled now and have fallen in love with the flower. It is heavenly!). Thank you, I will write these all down! And I am also grateful for the plant names as well.
@Lyoufln Yes I also find this fun. Thus far, I have a total of 75 names (including the ones you gave me), but about 33 of those I have already used to name the first three generations (and some of the heirs) of the family. So I have a feeling that I will need many more for all ten generations. Also you mentioned some time before that you were an outdoors type of person, so I figured you would be one of the people who would have some great suggestions! Thank you again
@Simpkin those are such wonderful flowers. I didn't find out till maybe three days ago that a cornflower and a bachelor's button was the same thing. I ended up naming a sim Bach-Elors Button (his nickname is Bach). It's a stretch, but I really just loved the flower.

Names are fun!
One of my Sims just had a little girl I named Chysanthemum, partly inspired by the book. I think it's a cute name

I have a childhood thing tied to the flowers so that's why they're my fave. But yeah in english they don't have the best sounding name. In my language it's "rukkilill". "rukki" is a word in a case, meaning rye. And "lill" means flower. So...ryeflower. But I think the word itself is a little better sounding/looking in my language. But I still wouldn't use it as a name myself sadly.:D
@Simpkin yeah, for many of the flowers I go with their Greek names, because many of them are actual names. Like the carnation is Garyfalia or the Saffron is Crocus, Daffodil is Narcissus and mint plant is Minthe. Thankfully many of these are actual names of mythological beings or names for actual people (Garyfalia is my aunt's name). Many other flower names just sound like a name, like Dianthus. But I think I will name another sim Rukki Lill (way better than Bach-elor) cause that sounds really cute honestly. I can also use the cornflower's scientific name Centaurea cyanus, cause even though it's not a name Centaurea kind of sounds interesting.
@MRSMLOG Yes, yellow roses are quite beautiful and very unique (unique because I always think of pink or red when I think of roses, not yellow). I am particular to the Oregon Trail Rose which bloom in yellow. They are very pretty. Oh, and Lady Bank's roses! Even though they don't really look like the typical rose in shape, they are extraordinary!

Wow, I never realised how similar my language flower names are to the greek ones
Oh and, the "regular case" word for rukki is rukis. If you care.
Sunflowers are my ultimate favorite. My boyfriend planted a bunch of sunflowers for me in front of our garden. I love looking out at them from my home office window! They're just such a happy flower!!!!
@Kendrana Those are lovely flowers, and both are really good as names! Thank you! @minimeg2425 Sunflowers are really wonderful, and I agree it is a very happy flower! The scientific name is Helianthus ( sun=helios and anthos=flower). I think I will definitely name a sim Helianthus. I think that will be a lovely name for a male sim. Thank you!
Two of my personal favorite flowers are Hyacinth, which smells beautiful and comes in several different colors, and Alstroemeria (which is kinda just a fancy name for Peruvian lily). Kalanchoe is also nice! They would definitely be unique names :P
@Sproutbean oh I absolutely adore Hyacinths. They are named after a myth of a man named Hyacinthus who was changed into a flower after being killed by a discus. They are one of the flowers I most enjoy growing (the blue ones are my favorite, but sometimes, since the smell is so strong, they make feel sick if I grow them in a small closed off room). I also love the other two suggestions. Very beautiful flowers and names. Thank you! I will definitely use all three
@Sweetpooh1993 Daisies are wonderful. I will have to use Daisy as a name, but I think I will also name another sim after the Daisy's scientific name: Asteraceae. It is very pretty and matches some other flower names like Centaurea, Nymphaea, Achillea and some others I have written down.
@Otoyo I think it is a great idea to use Daisy as a name for your sims. You just inspired me to name a whole family of sims after my favorite kinds of flowers. I agree that the scientific terms for many plants are interesting to use and are long LOL.
