I'm afraid you aren't giving us much information to go on here. Are you on Patch 1.69 or 1.67? Can you start your game in any way? What exactly happens when you try to start the Launcher, I mean what is broken about it?

Try clearing Internet Explorer's cache and cookies, making sure to de-select the option to retain cookies for Favorites. It must be IE, not Edge or the other browsers. Even if you never use IE yourself, the game borrows its resources and they tend to get clogged up. For a visual:

I need help with this too. I just bought the game and whenever I try press the 'play' button it says 'cannot start process while the game is running' and then it just comes up with 'Sims 3 quit unexpectedly' so I don't know what's happening. I'm on a mac. Please help!

That would not be the same issue at all, I'm afraid. Try going to Activity Monitor and force quitting the TS3 application first if it's already running -- or even better, restart your Mac and try again.

If neither of those help, you may need to post on the TS3 Mac Discussions board to be advised as to what to try next.

I was also having this issue. I used CCleaner and it seemed to do the trick.

I'm having difficulties creating my own post so I hope I'm not breaking the rules by adding to this discussion
This is my story, I'm in desperate need of help.
So after a while, I stopped backing up my game because of space right, and I did the dumbest thing of downloading a house from EA exchange without checking recommendations or running the content through a sims3pack checker. Apparently, it came with people too and it brought all this strange content from artists as well as the expected custom furniture.
I realised that I've gotten my hand on a few works from unknown artists and (we all know the kind of bug they cause) so I tried to use my launcher to delete the mess.
I've properly removed the family and house however I found that the items were still in my installer.
    .
"Cool" I thought and was ready to remove the files using the launcher. Here's where the problem came, the custom clothes I could remove but the household items? Nope Just nope.
When I go to the object tab and scroll down to find it, a message comes up saying sims3launcher has stopped working; dubug| close program.
    .
Now I could remove some files with this message still up, (like if I scrolled to the bottom and then remove old files I don't use) but the new ones that I thought were suspect? Nope, cant remove.
    .
Now the game itself hasn't shown any bugging (yet) but, I don't want something so buggy here and I don't want to accidentally pass it on to someone when I upload my own stuff. Though I highly doubt I would because I will not even touch the new items in-game.
I tried using S3PE but I don't understand it in terms of the DCCache files... well... I don't understand how to use it at all.
Yes, I've cleared all necessary cache; No I've never touched my cc.merged files.
My mods are all from PrS or MTS (artists like Assil and Mathews) and I've used and tested them all on my old laptop and never encountered any problems so they aren't the cause.
My game is updated, my laptop is only 3months old and prior to this stupid relapse of not checking EA exchange items, I've only downloaded from pralines, s-club, alecseyCOOL, etc. I've also tested all these on my old laptop and transferred them to this before clearing my old data.
    .
Long story short, is there any way I can manually delete the new files without deleting all my sims3 installed stuff? I don't know how to use CCmagic to clean up DCCache and I'm freaking out cause like, I'm in college and most of my previously installed items were downloaded months ago and there's no way I can track them all.
Also, some of my CC were given to me by downloading 'premium sims' and I never knew exactly where to get some of those files so I really wouldn't appreciate anyone telling me to uninstall or remove all CC. The game still works, I just can't unintall objects in my launcher anymore.
    .
Can anyone help me? Or direct me to someone who can? Please and thank you. Also, I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all a happy New year.
    :)

@T_Mari - Here are some outlines of methods used to remove unwanted CC from the game using the Launcher. Note especially "Method by Mell," which explains how to work with only one dbc file from the DCCache at a time. It can be a very tedious process, depending on how many dbc files you have and thus how large your CC collection is.
    https://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2011/01/tutorial-how-to-get-rid-of-unwanted-custom-content.html

Note that any tmp files in your DCCache are expendable garbage that can be deleted and ebc files are EA TS3 Store content, so those can be skipped over or safely set aside during this process.

If even with working on one dbc file at a time the Launcher crashes on you, and you can't even identify which dbc file is doing this (or they all do), then there really isn't any substitute for trashing all of the dbc files and rebuilding them with fresh installs.

I'm also afraid that there is no substitute for backing up one's user game folder. This game is fragile and not very forgiving when something like this goes wrong. How tight on hard drive space are you? Can you not use USB thumb drives to backup once you have a properly working game folder again, if nothing else is available?

    Omg Thank you!
I've already deleted all .tmp files
I'll try your method now, I don't mind the time, I screwed up big time, this'll feel like repentance. Well, I have 840 GB free. I am a 'minimalist' so I don't have an issue with space, I just didn't want it cluttered, but I'll back everything up on my dropbox from now on. Thanks so much for your advice!
