Okay ladies and Gentleman, the scores are finally up for the Semi-Final. Congratulations to the top 3 going through to the Finals. The final assignment will go up later today.
Always a bridesmaid never a bride! My hubby says at least I'm consistent haha I'll snag that first place one of these days! I'm excited to see whats next for us
Okay finalists your Grand Final brief is up and you have 7 days to submit. Make sure you read the brief thoroughly and NO EXTENSIONS so please try to get them in on time. Any questions don't hesitate to ask and most importantly have fun!!
...oh and before you ask, @Movotti if you want to do a "Victorian Goth" look, you can as long as it screams formal/wedding. LOL
Congratulation to the top 3. Thanks for the generous scores and comments, was not expecting a win. Great competing with you @Penguinwa101 and @annathefantabulous . Good luck to you both, @fabtiffsim and @Movotti
Congrats everyone!!! And thank you again @Jendowoz0612 for the opportunity; it was fun using Sasha as my/a model this time around! XD. Sorry I kind of fell out of this, but I enjoyed it!
LOVER of all things cosplay, anime, cats, Shadowhunters, and Sims 4!
For your interest this is how the rounds leading up to the finale panned out, so congrats go to @abelhinha35 and @Fabtiffsim for coming equal first in the overall rounds and to @Penguinwa101 and @Movotti for second and third.
Congrats to all of the finalists! it was so nice to compete with all of you, and this really was a fun competition! And @Jendowoz0612, thank you for making this possible and for all of the kind words throughout the competition.
@Jendowoz0612 Omg, I love that kind of stuff! Was looking to enter, just didn't have time to do a bodyshot until late tonight, early tomorrow. If you want to reserve me a spot, go ahead! I'll get all the entry info done ASAP
Which class character would you like? @annathefantabulous? There is 3 spots left so there is no hurry for the body shot, Anna, we have to fill the spots first anyway. Check there and let me know.
My apologies for being late to congratulate the top 3 moving into the Finals! Well done!
I would also like to just say that I truly enjoy looking at all the amazing entries for each and every assignment. I think you have all done awesome jobs portraying the different eras, and I do hope you had a blast doing these pics!!! Thank you all for letting me judge such lovely piccies!!!
One of your examples for Edwardian is a bit off, the guy on the end is wearing fashion from about 50 years prior. He looks more early Victorian than Edwardian, the fall front pants give it away. And your 'Victorian' ladies, are actually wearing Edwardian gowns! Their puffy fronts are an Edwardian thing, it's like a weird mono bosom, at about stomach level And the skirts too, very trumpety, and the waists have that weird angle.
Early victorian is more like this:
Shoulders are low and rounded looking. No hoops yet under the skirt, just peticoats
20 years later, hoops were holding up skirts so wide that women couldn't fit through regular doorways.
In the 1870's, baby got back! Skirts weren't as wide, but still used as much fabric, with most of it sitting on a false rump.
Between 1870 and 1890, the bustle and skirts became narrow, but the bustle itself went up or down on a yearly basis. It's hard to keep up with the speed of fashion at the time!
1875. We know she pads.
1879. No one who is anyone pads any more, and all that extra fabric just droops
1880. She hides her children under there to sneak them into the theatre.
1885 The bigger the backside, the smaller the waist.
And as tempting as Victorian Gothic is, I may torture Trash in other ways.
I'm hoping to get this done tomorrow
It depends on what part of that era, as the Victorian and Edwardian crossed over a bit in fashion or perhaps some research sites I went to mixed them up, but mostly I went by the site I have all the way through, "The Vintage Dancer" and they have been pretty accurate all the way through. Depends which site you look at I think, @Movotti . But I'll make some changes, thanks, as I don't want to mislead anyone.
But it's good that you are doing your own research, that shows initiative and all 3 of you should probably research for you own peace of mind. The judges will ensure the era is correct when everyone submits, so thanks for putting up this info.
I've studied costume design, we had to know the differences in the details for different eras.
I'm a nightmare to watch any sort of historical costume movies with.
It's easy to research the Victorian and Edwardian eras, the fashion plates usually have dates on them, so you can easily tell what was in fashion for what season, in what year. Some trends changed as fast as they do now. A lot of sites that try to cover either era have mislabelled their pics, but the fashion plates are rarely wrong. Plus, when you're a nut like me, you can tell the era by the silhouette and the details.
