Game Can't Start (update problem) «12345678...Next Go

I went to play just now and Origin updated.
I then got game update required. I went to see what the update notes were but couldn't find any.
I went ahead with the update but when it tried to install I got a fail error - which I didn't make note of, and now my game won't play. I can't click on anything to get it to start. The buttons won't click.
Currently I'm in the middle of up repairing game.
If that fails I'll try the update now I find I can click on those buttons.
I closed down and restarted before I tried these other things.

Try shutting down your computer completely. Start the computer again, then launch the game and see if that helps.

If the issues still remain, repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.

If you still have issues, try uninstalling and reinstalling origin and see if that helps.

I'm in the middle of a repair game with my antivirus and firewall off.
Will do an origin reinstall if that fails.
Was there an update today, it wanted to update and that's when it happened?

I think that's what screwed this up. The game repair is forever finalizing. I'm going to have to do a hard shut down. I'll be back.

Phew, I'm not sure which one cured this, but it's working again.
Don't know if if it was the total shut down and restart, the repair game - I had to shut it down whilst repairing, and continued on where it left off. No error messages this time.
Thanks rose, that was touch and go. I have no idea why it wanted to update at that moment when it's already up to date.

I had this problem again when updating today. I've done a complete shut down and it still won't work. I'm now repairing the game to see if that helps.

Just trying another repair game. Last time I did it with my firewall turned off, so don't know if that's what fixed it. Just got an error - 327682:0

I've uninstalled origin, but now the download won't run. I've tried to open and run, and run as administrator, but still won't run.

Woo hoo! It worked. Thanks for your support again rose. I've never had to go as far as uninstalling and reinstalling before. I think in future Ill be turning off my antivirus before updating.
We'll see if that's what getting in the way, as It was off once I downloaded the new Origin.

I now have to reset all my settings. I can't remember off hand, is it best to turn origin off in game, I think that's how I had it set up?

Just updated my win10 laptop - no problem with that one. Must be just something with the win 8.1 one. Strange.
