Havind issues with GTW doctor career

I'm having an issue where my sim goes to transfer the case to the Doctor in charge and he seems to take it, but then nothing is done at all. I'm at a standstill because I need to treat patients to get a promotion, but none of the patients are being diagnosed by the doctor. Is anyone else having this issue? How do I fix it? For reference, I have no CC or mods in my game and my brother is playing the scientist career just fine.
