Friendship Bug?

So I started a fresh save to play around with the Parenthood GP, and friendships seem to be bugged in some way. The relationship bar goes up as normal, but no matter how high it goes, the other Sim stays as an "acquaintance." My Sims never get the moodlet for becoming friends with the other person ... but they'll be listed in the Friends panel once their relationship gets high enough. Loading the game "fixes" it, in that the other Sim will finally be listed as a friend or good friend or whatever, but obviously it makes any "make a friend" goal impossible, and it's ... sort of annoying not getting the moodlet for it.

I don't have any mods running at the moment, so it's not that. But I haven't seen anyone else say this has happened to them? Am I just ... super lucky, or what?

Try testing this with another household in your game, and see if the same thing occurs with that household also.

It doesn't seem to be happening in my old saves. I'l start a new save and test that too, I guess. That just makes it weirder, though.

It may be connected with a certain sim just in that one save game. Try lowering their relationship levels down, then raise them up again and see if they then can become friends,

It's not just one Sim, it's the entire family having the problem.

I made a new save, and it works fine? It's really frickin' weird.

Aha, I moved them out of an apartment and into a house. The welcome wagon seems to have jostled whatever was broken loose (as no welcome wagon came for them in the apartment). Weird. So weird.

But! At least I don't have to ditch the save.

I am sorry that you are having this issue with the household. Try evicting the sims household, then place them back into the original house and see if the issue remains,

It's been a while but I just wanted to say that I got the same bug. My Sims lived in San Myshuno, then I moved to Forgotten Hollow. And suddenly I don´t get the "new firend" moodlet. However, only if a sim becomes a "normal" friend.
When they become best friends, there is again a moodlet.
In the panel, first status "acquaintance" won´t go away. But only during the conversation. As soon as the other sim leaves the lot, the panel displays the relationship correctly. Strange

I am sorry that you aren't getting the new friend moodlet and having the issue with the aqaintance status remaining.Try testing with another household in another world, and see if these issues remain.
If the issues remain with other households, resetting your sims 4 folder can help with issues . To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then copy back the "options.ini" or " options " file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder.

I had this same problem. Try deleting the localthumbcache file in your Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 4 folder. Making friends went back to normal for me.

Often traveling to another lot , or completely exiting and reloading the game can help with the issue with the acquaintance status.
