Please could I have some advice on some gaming laptops for sims 3. I've found I haven't been playing as much as I just can't be bothered to go on to my laggy laptop! Lol.
I'm not into tech that much so have no idea what I'm doing, I would prefer a laptop as I think I would get bored being stuck at a PC.
I've found some options below, I would prefer to get a laptop from the site Very as they have payment options which would be really helpful.
@megan_maria - The two above are the people that you want to speak with about gaming gear.
They both helped me when I was getting a new set up. I originally wanted a laptop, but realised that I could get more for my money in a desktop (and I've got a pretty sweet set up, if I do say so myself.) Plus I'll be able to upgrade my desktop whereas I wouldn't be able to upgrade a laptop...it's a really good investment.
Custom is, more often than not, better...and they'll be able to provide you links if you can provide them with your budget. I think that most places do have payment plans as well.
I know a desktop would definitely be better but I don't like the idea of being stuck in one room and not being able to take it around with me from my house to my mums house.. can't decide ! Lol
A desktop would probably be better, yes, though I have a laptop (have to be able to move it around) and depending on your budget, you can get okay to good ones.
Both have two hard drives. The main hard drives for both are only 128 gb ssd. You won't be able to game on that ssd. You will have to install your games on the second HDD hard drive
@phoebebebe13 I honestly have no idea what that means lol. How would I go about downloading on a HDD hard drive ? Would it still work ok ? And also you mentioned the graphics card.. are they not good enough? ( I am clueless! )

I found this one which I think is a bigger SSD but then again I have no idea.
You would have to custom install the game. When you download the game it should give you an option to custom install. You chose custom and direct the game to your other hard drive. If you have a problem installing you can just post in the tech section. You will also have to set up the laptop to run on the Nvidia card. All gaming laptops come with two video card one for gaming and one for light computer tasks
That dell has a bigger ssd but no second hard drive. You dont want a laptop with only 250gb hard drive space total. What is your budget?
Your welcome. Everywhere I look in your budget your going to have to install the game on the second hard drive. I also looked on PC specialist UK. They have financing . I found a great laptop at a cheaper price but it's sold out. It was only 400 -500 pounds on close out and had a 256 gb ssd plus a 1tb hard drive
Do you know of any other places in the UK that finance? I'm in the USA so I am a little more familiar with stores here.
And I'm not sure of any other sites that have finance options unfortunately. Although if I was able to get the laptops on sale around £400 That are sold out I would of just been able to buy it which is very gutting !
http://www.argos.co.uk/product/6183543 - i'd get this, it's £50 more than you're budget but if you use the argos card - pay 3 months time it won't be as bad and this is one mean machine that can easily hold al the games/packs/mods/cc and the whole store
@phoebebebe13 I went into my local Pc World last night and they didn't have it in stock only the Asus laptop above it with a better graphics card however it had 128 SSD but was 999.
@Kylieb191 thanks so much. I want to have all the expansions packs installed aswell as CC so thank you for linking. I didn't know they had credit options so that's really handy
@megan_maria This laptop states two different things http://www.argos.co.uk/product/6183543 at the top it states it has an ssd and a 1 tb hard drive. At the bottom it only states 1 tb hard drive . If it has a bigger ssd and 1 tb hard drive its a good deal.ask to make sure they are giving you that larger ssd
Aw no:( is it not available for delivery either? and yeah that would do the same job as the Medion (plus a little more) and you'll have a processor booster with it going up to 3.5ghz
So I purchased the Asus laptop but I'm having a bit of an issue on getting the Sims to recognise my graphics card. I have edited the .sgr files and the "not recognised" pop up has disappeared however on my Deviceconfig it is only saying Found: 1 Matched: 0. I have looked through everything and I feel like I have done it all correctly.
I have also tried adding the sims to my NVidia control panel @phoebebebe13 however I cant find the "adaptive tool"

My FPS are coming in around 145 which I know is not right.
You will only see the "card not recognized" pop up once. It's not important to have your card recognized unless you're having graphical issues. If you want it recognized just for peace of mind then I can help through PM. I don't post step by step in threads because someone else might try to follow with a different card.
If you bought the Asus I think you bought, then the GTX 960m does not have adaptive v-sync with Nvidia Control Panel. Nvidia Inspector might include it for your card but I'm not 100% sure. It's safe to use vsync on instead through Nvidia Control Panel. Patch 1.67 add Sims 3 ts3w.exe. Patch 1.69 add Sims 3 ts3.exe.*Must be in fullscreen for it to work if using Nvidia Control Panel. While in-game, open cheat bar and type fps on to check if it's working. Small numbers in the corner should display your monitors refresh rate which is 60 for most.
Yes try the on option in nvidia control panel first. Make sure you add the correct executable for the patch you're on.

I'll leave it to the experts now! Good luck!

Ultimate cc-list
My top 5
The first one below has newer hardware. The second has the 900 series Nvidia card and they don't make the 900 series anymore.

My budget is around £850 but I was looking at that particular site as they have payment options so this will be easier for me paying over time.

Thanks so much for looking around I really appreciate that.
I'll try see if they do that laptop in my local store but can't find an option to check the stock online
So it's looking like either the original acer or a desktop!

Yes that is the same laptop for more than double the price
Can you go into a physical PC specialist and see if they still have that laptop on sale

Would this laptop also be able to run all of the expansions plus custom content? As it only has 8gb.
