Vacation Game/Expansion Pack

As a travel junkie myself.... I crave vacations in TS4! I am SO SAD about vacations in TS3 (World Adventures). How EA tried mixing roleplaying games and The Sims, and it failed miserably. Such a cool sounding EP that ended up a disappointment! On the other hand I LOVE vacations in Sims 2 (Bon Voyage), but feel like a lot more could have been implemented. Now I haven't played around in Outdoor Retreat much, but I know not everyone likes camping and outdoors (I sure don't). I feel like the general vacation idea however is going in the right direction. I love how there are different resort/hotel types you can stay in and activities unique to the world. So here are my ideas for a Vacation game or expansion pack :)

Universal stuff
No matter which vacation destination you choose, they'll all have the following:
⇒ Unique skill to learn that relates to the destination world
⇒ Several resort/hotels that are themed with the destination
⇒ Activities and locals unique to the theme of the destination
⇒ Collectibles (bugs, fish, gems etc) unique to the theme of the destination
⇒ Unique dining options (if the player has Dine Out)
⇒ Room service in your hotel room, perhaps?

New career/profession: resort owner
As a resort owner you will have the ability to buy an existing resort or land to build one upon. You may own several resorts You must make money off of room bookings and improve your resort similar to how reviews work in TS3. You may also hire staff to maintain the resort.
There are also a few resort types such as: bed & breakfast, inn, campground, motel, 5-star establishment, etc. These can also be categorized by a preset value if possible (Value, Moderate, Deluxe, High-end resorts, or 1-5 stars). This is to ensure that guests don't get too demanding depending on what the resort is. (Something I hated in TS3 was that the guests were complaining about no pools, hot tubs, deluxe food options etc when I would just be trying to run a small, rundown motel)
This way, your ratings can improve and be the best hotel it can be, FOR that category that it's in, and your guests won't be demanding jetski and other luxury activities for what's supposed to be a cute B&B, if that makes sense :)

Now, onto the vacation destination ideas!

Theme park
⇒ A carousel, rollercoasters, other rides, and character meet and greets (such as meeting the Freezer Bunny mascot etc) are all staples of the Theme Park world.
⇒ Unique collectibles could be- brightly colored/candy themed insects, fish, and gems.

Tropical getaway
⇒ Sandy beaches, palm trees, warm summer nights, fire dancers, etc. are all staples of the Tropical world.

Asian cultural location
⇒ "Asian" can mean a lot of things, but I'm mainly talking about a destination that is heavily influenced by Japanese, Korean, and Chinese culture.

Nerd/pop culture/fan Convention trip
⇒ Now I know we have GeekCon in TS4, but how cool would it be to have a whole world dedicated to that? (As someone who goes to fan and pop culture conventions irl, the GeekCon in TS4 was a little disappointing)
⇒ New skill could be costume making, and you could unlock costumes the higher your skill level is. Costume contests are a possibility, prizes could be simoleans or rare geek collectibles/objects.

Talent City
⇒ The highlight of this world would be Broadway inspired live performances for sims. As well as shows from famous sims singers, performers, etc (maybe the acrobat, singer, and magician elements from TS3 Showtime could come into play here)
⇒ Fashion shows would be cool as well. (Perhaps costume making from the convention idea would be one skill, calling sewing/clothing construction, and designer fashion or costume making open up thanks to this skill?)
⇒ There could also be auditions for new talent (if this were to be a separate game pack rather than apart of an EP), if your sim passes the audition, there is possibility for a Showtime career to be started here.

Renaissance faire
⇒ Sims are encouraged to dress up for this occassion.
⇒ Jousting is a new activity as well as skill, if your sim can win the jousting contest, great prizes can be won (or perhaps you'll get to sit in the king's throne?)

Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see on the list, and I'll add it onto there!

Cool ideas! I think they should also consider:

    - A snowy mountain with ski resorts and some other related activies. Sims could stay at the resort and relax in the heated pools or they could play outside in the snow.

    - A place with several thrilling activies, with a huge river in which our sims could do some rafting, tall cliffs close to the ocean from which our sims could jump, mountains our sims could climb.... there are many possibilities here.

    - A world that looks like aurora skies from sims 3 with its iceland vibe. This could be like a romantic getaway with fancy dining spots and great resorts with spas and stuff.

    - exotic adventure world like al simhara with tombs and stuff for our explorer sims. But, unlike sims 3, there should also be options for those sims that weren't explorers, like going to some cultural festival and cool marketplace.

    - an island that is famous for its huge parties and music festivals like Ibiza. There should be plenty of young people and lots of juice for our sims to get really crazy. The city itself could be historic and also have really nice beaches for our sims to enjoy.

    - A historic city like Monte Vista from sims 3 which could also be a romantic getaway. Our sims could visit museums and eat pizza.

    - A huge casino city in the middle of the desert with a modern extravagating style, in which our sims could lose their entire fortune gambling (this would be cool since once our sims are rich, there are really limited ways they can lose their Money).

    - An indian like destination, which should have cultural festivals where our sims could taste their exotic gastronomy and learn dance moves and songs.

And I think this should be done like in sims 2 and not the way they started doing with Granite Falls. I think there should Always be a variety of hotels for us to choose from. A cheap one, a medium one and a fancy 5 stars. We should also be able to buy/rent some houses, but it's way better to rent a room in a hotel with many activites related to the world we chose.

I miss the touristic vibe we had in sims 2, which we didn't have in sims 3, since this last one had more like an adventurous rather than touristic vibe. I want all the destinations to have those miniatures of landmakrs and cultural references that our sims can buy and take home. I also want them to be able to learn dance movements, songs and other cultural aspects from the places they visit.

Yes especially amusement parks and tropical locations. I remember you from the TS3 forums.

I would love for them to make an airport where we go to decide where to travel to. I hate just going out of thin air. Then the ones you add to your game will show up there and you will be able to go to them. They could have a magazine, a crossword book, and other airporty type things. <3

    zoo
    petting farm
    cruise ship

places like in World Adventures- I did like it. It was a legit way to earn big bucks in S3 and being able to roam all over was a plus. Hated not being able to keep minor pets while on vacation. No fair finding them only to have them escape before you get home; and the routing issues although you can make it work. I did hate that you had to level up by doing quests; I would rather have just explored and gone to the city part of it along with learning songs, getting skill books, & having new foods.
    An indian like destination

variety of hotels for us to choose from. A cheap one, a medium one and a fancy 5 stars.

If they do an Indian one and I'm not sure they would because of all the fussing about how they did the one in the S3 store, I hope we can sleep in teepees and buy them. That would be so neat for poor/destitute sims and such play.

Love the hotel idea; I like choices. :)

YES!! These two ideas are my top two wants in a vacation EP along with a romantic tropical island and maybe a historic city for some other cultural activities.

As for the casino city, I was JUST thinking today about how much I loved the concept of the casino in TS3 and the Lucky Palms world, but because TS3 didn't perform as well on this PC my casino was always barren and lacked so much life. I love that in TS4 my lots are always full of sims bouncing around and using the objects. I'd love to see the casino get a second chance in TS4. I also think it'd be so cute if the casino included a small wedding chapel and that, by this point, bachelor/bachelorette parties were reinstate. I would LOVE to be able to do like a destination wedding or send my sims to one of these destinations for their bachelor/bachelorette party.

This is what I have posted in a few other threads regarding destination packs:

"Other than a Werewolf GP similar to the vampire one we got and one with Witches (+ carnivals, astrology, fortune tellers & curses),
Seasons EP, University EP, some kind of hotel managing tropical & alpine pack with snorkling and diving/skiing and snowboarding,
and maybe even a UK inspired GP/EP centered around modern Royalty, I just want loads of destination worlds for travelling and adventuring sims.

I'd absolutely LOOOVE a Tibet/Nepal Adventure destination world with snowy mountains..
Exotic temples with monks and snow storms that keep you inside ( unless you want to die by getting stuck in snow or something or maybe stumble upon the rare Yeti ) and you could spend your time learning Kung Fu or meditating :D
I'd 100% prefer this over a regular China/Japan/Korea/Mongolia/Thailand vacation or whatever.. This is the one I want the most more than any other destination pack <3

Also I'd really really like to have a UAE/Istanbul Middle Eastern Arabian inspired one.. With desert adventures on camels, camping under the starts in bedouin tents, belly dancing and spice/perfume/carpet markets etc and some exotic architecture! Maybe you could stumble upon magic lamps and genies if you were lucky.

I'd also really like to have back the Egyptian Adventure destination.. I never played Sims 3 and I love Egypt. Pyramid exploration, tombs, curses and archaeology!!

Ooooh and I'd definitely love a Venice destination focused on culture and like ballet/opera/theater/renaissance art and perhaps with it's own masquerade festival or ball :D Maybe they could include a historian/merchant career or perhaps opera-singing/ballet-dancing/acting/sculpturing/perfumery skills. Or tailoring and luxurious fabric shops. Hmm.. Or antique auctions! Lot's of possibilities.

I also wouldn't mind a tropical volcanic tiki island destination maybe inspired by Hawaii or something with beaches and natives that worship the volcano god, but I'm not as interested in this as the other ones now that we have Jungle Adventure and it would be somewhat similar world.

Maybe an Australian outback adventure world could have some potential with exotic and dangerous animals and maybe a career as a zoologist or poison/reptile collector. At least the nature would be a bit different.. "
