oh look at me back here again - laptops and such

hello everyone,

i have posted here last year a couple times about laptop options. i am back again because this time i am really fed up with my (current laptop) and I need a new one. it doesn't necessarily have to be a gaming laptop, just something that can run everyday tasks and run the sims (not necessarily at like the best of the best smoothness but good enough. I live in australia and the top of the budget is around $1500 AUD.

thank you!

    Hi,
Where about's in Australia are you? I'm in Sydney :)
You should really invest in a gaming laptop, they last longer and are better equipped to handle gaming (even if it's just the sims.)
OK these are slightly over budget but worth it if you can go higher :
    http://www.affordablelaptops.com.au/contents/en-us/p3326_msi-gl62_GL62-7RD-668AU.html
The above is the best and has free shipping and a good warranty.

The below is just on your budget

Still is good but does not come with the added SSD.
All will play the games on max settings.
I highly recommend both Mwave and Affordablelaptops, I have brought from both places with zero problems.

I'm Melbourne... also seeing as the first two are the same price what's the difference between them?

OK the first has a 2GB graphics card and has a SSD.
The second has a 4GB graphics card and no SSD.
I would probably lean toward the second maybe.. the Added SSD of the first is nice but it's very small so you wouldn't be installing much on there.
Other then that there is no difference apart from the brand name. Both are good.

Okay, I'll take a look at those options and see what I can do. I might have to save up a bit to go towards the higher end of the budget.

Just to second what chesterbigbird said, yeah, it really should be a gaming laptop. Regardless of what YOU want, TS4 is, in fact, a game, and it needs gaming level hardware if you want to enjoy playing the game, and also have the computer last any length of time. Every patch and update makes the game more demanding - getting a laptop that is "just good enough for everyday tasks" will not last. The game also gets inherently slower the more you play, the more you save, the more custom content you add, etc, so ideally with a laptop, you want to buy the absolute best model you can possibly afford since you can't upgrade parts later on. :)

If you have to save up a bit, it's totally worth it - if you buy a cheaper everyday laptop, it's going to have problems, and then you just lose money when you have to throw it away and buy a second replacement.

Depending on how long you wait, the offer could be gone. If that happens just post here again.
