Cannot Plant Cowplant Berry in Planter
From the beginning of the game it has been possible to plant and grow the Cowplant in the square planter.
Now (today) I can only plant it on the ground. I realize the Cowplant takes up a lot of space but still ...
I was able to pull the Cowplant Berry out of personal inventory and place in the middle of the planter.
I selected it and had the option to plant. My Sim went thru the motions of planting and it temporarily showed the usual dirt mound.
Then the Cowplant Berry went back to normal and I got the message "A Cowplant Berry failed to germinate. Try putting it on a more open place before planting it.
*This was a new game with a newly created Sim.
*Zero Mods and Zero CC
*The Cowplant Berry was created by grafting a Dragonfruit and Snapdragon
*The Planter was the large square type crafted on the Workbench by my Sim

Just to make sure that it is not your game causing the issues, try repairing the game and see if that may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.
Try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then copy back the "options.ini" or " options " file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder.

This save has only been played two Sim weeks. There is nothing in family inventory and since I am playing a survival type challenge there are only a limited few things on the lot. Personal inventory only has a couple frogs for breeding and produce is sold off after harvesting. I did save and quit and taking a break to do real life stuff. Will test again after I get back in game.
I hope that the issue may be fixed when you test again in your game

I was reading what you wrote in the first post again. Try using a planter from bulld/buy mode instead of one that your sim created using the woodworking table and see if that helps. There also needs to be a lot of free space around where you place the planter.

There was plenty of space around the planter. I had a few minutes to go back in the save but need to wait for more Cowplant Berries to be ready to harvest from the spliced plant.
Closed the game and restarted computer. Going to relax with some TV (in real life) and dinner before I go back in game.
I will report back later.
*I also have another save with a Level 10 gardener. I can test that game to see if it is happening in that save.

Eta If you need a level 10 handy skilled sim. I have one on my gallery. Her name's Kitty Kat and my gallery id is INDYANNA2. You can use her for testing if you don't have a level 10 handy skilled sim.
That being as long as there is enough space in front of the planter.
Finally found time to play
To be thorough I reset the Sims 4 folder and copied over the saves, Options.ini , User Setting.ini and ReticulatedSplinesView and Tray folder.
I also did the Repair action before starting to play. I used the existing Garden Planter crafted by my Sim (Level 10 Gardening / Level 7 Handiness).
I was sure I had grafted to create a Cowplant Berry (might have caught by fishing?) but had to create a new grafted plant.
NOW I can finally place and plant it. *WHEW*
Thank you all for taking the time to read and help resolve this issue.
It is good that the issue has now beeb fuxedm and you can plant the cowplant in the planter.

I thought about it *after* it was fixed.
I was living on Oakenstead in Willow Creek. That particular lot is notorious for having areas that are not even/flat. After successfully testing in another save I had that lightbulb moment.
Went back to the original save. Sure enough.... there was an area near that planter that was clipped by uneven terrain. ^*Derf*^
Placed the Cowplant Berry in the planter and moved to a totally different area. After all that repairing and making a fresh folder. *Sigh*

I always try alternate methods to troubleshoot. Must have been asleep at the wheel when this happened.
