If you're using walls and not bars for a room(s) to keep prisoners in, then, if you have GTW, you can add the one way window from the police station, in the hall so you can watch them but they can't see you.

800 years ago, the area known as Forgotten Hollow was host to the great fortress of the despotic Count Jacques-Bertram de Gontaut. A cruel and wicked man, Count Bertram was overthrown by peasant revolt, supplied and spurred on by his political rivals, the Duke of Myshuno and Margrave di Magnolia. Bertram's fortress at The Hollow was stormed, his forces defeated and the Lord of the Bloody Fist was beheaded in his own courtyard. His great castle, his impressive curtain walls, his cathedral were all razed to the ground. All that remained was Walud Keep -- the final refuge of the Count, which stood as reminder of the necessity for vigilance against oppression. Many attempts were made to settle in The Hollow, but under the shadow of the keep there would be no ease. And so The Hollow became the Forgotten Hollow, an accursed place, home to only the outcast. The keep, it would seem, has recently been the host to some activity. Refurbishment crews have been seen entering and leaving. There is a sound of industry buzzing from within. And later, rumors of lights seen from within the arrowslits. Walud Keep, they say, has a new master.

    W1_zpsogjfrsp4.jpg

First off, it's a military keep in the style of the stone ones from the 11th Century. That means that it isn't going to be a very beautiful building. They're basically big rectangles, like so.

    170px-Goodrich_Castle_keep1.jpg

I took some liberties and gave it a tiered effect, towers and barbican, which they generally didn't have. Floor plan is inspired a bit by Castle Ravenloft from the eponymous D&D module. So, here's a virtual tour of this virtual keep.

    W2_zpsphka2poz.jpg

Above is the cemetery and small garden that is located along the eastern barbican.

    W3_zpsnpf0os5a.jpg

This is the ground floor. On the bottom left would have been the mustering hall, now converted to parlor. The upper left is the once-armory, now library. The large room on the right of the main stairway is the dining hall, which would have been the soldier's mess back in its day.

    W4_zpsgqzmj6q9.jpg

I am really proud of these two little rooms. They're located just to the rear of the dining hall. The first is an old stone hearth kitchen, the second the pantry. Both are in total disrepair. The living quarters have been renovated with black marble flooring and have had their walls reburbished, but these retain the original flooring and have the blemished walls, with the reason being that vampires have no use for kitchens. The stairs in the pantry lead to the undercroft, which we will visit last.

    W5_zps55lzdxru.jpg

The second floor. This would have been the soldiers barracks. Now it is a sitting room. The organ lives here. Got to have an organ.

    W6_zpsio1wmpqx.jpg

Above is the top floor. As a military keep, the structure would have served as a refuge of last resort during a siege. Accordingly, the top floor hall would have served as the lord's quarters, throne room and war council chambers. It has been converted to a stately office, where the vampire lord may conduct business with rivals and subordinates. Occasionally a powerful mortal businessman or politician who needs to be sufficiently intimidated may be presented here.

Another thing I am really proud of is the presence of layered walls within the keep. Originally there would be entrances to that space for troops who would be using the arrowslits. The vampires had these walled off entirely, keeping the sun out of most rooms altogether.

    W7_zpsvqrcxlm5.jpg

The undercroft. This very large basement space would have served as both chapel and infirmary during a siege. Obviously the vampires had the room completely cleaned out. Can't hibernate with crucifixes on the wall and communion wafers around.

Lastly, a few floor-level shots for ambience.

    W8_zpsbe92ggle.jpg

The parlor, facing from the library.

    W9_zpsyoecp7ef.jpg

The obverse view of the library.

    W10_zps90c3bysk.jpg

The dining hall. The painting above the mantle is of the lord and lady of the keep.

    W11_zpst6dp0zhe.jpg

The second story sitting room. The paintings are of the lord and lady's daughters.

    W12_zpsqhhh7f8b.jpg

    The top floor office.

    W13_zpst98dsdv4.jpg

    The expanse of the undercroft.

As a final note, there are no bathroom or washroom facilities. These sort of buildings never had indoor plumbing. Chamber pots were the sanitation of the day. Vampires, having little use for indoor plumbing, would not bother to have them included.

Thanks for humoring me as I gush about my building.

I really needed a more family oriented home for my vampire, so I took Ambeerxxx's lovely Tudor Cottage that looked very playable and re-VAMPed it. Search for Creepy Tudor Cottage under item name on the gallery.

My vampire, Violet, is a fairly kind, civilized sort of vampire. She lives in an old (but well-kept) mansion. Right now, it's still a work in progress. The mansion itself is pretty well complete, but I still need to landscape the grounds, furnish and decorate some of the interior and so forth.

I can't really claim credit for the design -- it's based off the lot I used for the TS3 version of Violet, which was a somewhat modified version of the "Blown with the Breeze" lot that came with TS3: Ambitions. I just tweaked it a bit, and now re-created it in TS4. (With a few adjustments -- some things just don't work the same in TS4 as they used to in TS3.) I used lighter colors -- lots of whites this time around. Still not sure if I'll keep it as shown or tweak it further.

I moved my Addams family into Forgotten Hollow. I tried to add in a lot of odd stuff because their house is full of odd things. The mannequins in the two livingrooms are for a brown bear and a polar bear that appeared in the show. There is even an Addams family cemetery in the back of the house. If you want to check them out, you can find them at my I.D.: #dannydanbo

It's not really a lair. I'd go so far as saying it's actually a house. It's a makeover of Wolfsbane Manor.

Really liked Straud Manor but I wanted something with more room. So I set out to try and make my own version with a more roomy layout while keeping the feel of the original.

Here is my Straud Manor (also available in the gallery):
    01_28_17_8_02_58_PM.png

I didn't use any electric appliances or lighting (aside from some hidden mood lights) to try and give it that old timey feel. Your Ancient Vampire Lord of course needs his three brides so I gave each their own customized room.

    For your Dark Queen:

    For your beautiful Princess:

And for your crazy ripper bride:

Down below you have a bat shaped crypt with plenty of coffin space:

Below that you have your very own vampire training room:

    Complete with training dummies:

I was actually pretty happy with how this one turned out.

I'm in love with that Dark Queen room.

i have so many vampires with so many different themes, it's not easy. and, many of these are gallery finds, so i'll try to be quick. also, i use a program that actually makes those that want to see the pictures click on links, so i'll also keep the number of shots per household limited...

absolutely every lot i got from the gallery has been modified in some way. most are still quite recognizable from the outside, it's mostly interior reworking to fit the individual household's theme.

we'll start with the 'brute squad' in forgotten hollow. they started out as the 'rebellious vampires' from the vampire pack trailers, though they've got a few new members who i haven't actually moved into the lot, yet. the lot itself started out as the graveyard also used in the vampire pack trailers. lot and original trio downloaded from maxiscreator_01.

i made the lot residential, moved the statue that was blocking the stairs down into the crypt from being used, and added a lot of personalizing touches, such as 'found' or 'rescued' items from businesses or roadside sofas or whatnot, as well as a lot of posters and graffiti to sort of give it a feel vaguely like the lair of the vampires in 'the lost boys'. also, included a party area, basketball court, and even a yoga mat that has been used for some interesting 'worshipping the demon statue' screenshots before.

    https://gyazo.com/9f20252164d97a2432bbf9be0499b0b8

...i might have already gotten carried away with the photos and only on the first household...

also, one of the default things every single vampire lair i have has is the aquarium seen in the last picture. such a great and easy way to get quick snacks, once they have the vampire lore to make plasma packs from fish.

next we have the 'noble vampires' also from the vampire pack. they're now 'the council of masques' just as a bit of a nod to the masquerade from v:tm (and, inna cents got renamed to 'juliette camarilla' as another nod). they live in a castle in windenberg, 'vampire castle' by sarahamina. a lot of interior remodeling was done here, even if most of it was small decor items or knocking walls out to make a 'tv room' out of one of the lower levels of one of the towers. there are a lot of great little touches in this build that i'd show off if it were just for the one household, but still a way to go, so...floor plans only! the build really is worth checking out sometime, though. there are even toddler and kid rooms, which worked out nicely since the household was the first to get a vampire toddler for me...

    exterior: https://gyazo.com/8ab42231b04b5a6cd20d701c9d72751e

    https://gyazo.com/f839f6c44db8e4c4fbe905588f29fb23

not so easy to see in that bottom one, but i converted a lot of the empty, sealed off rooms into individualized crypts for those household members that can't sleep in beds, added an under the stairs bedroom for the mortal butler (also known as 'live-in snack'), and put a basketball court up in the area filled with coffins for the underlings.

next up is a bit different... it's the eldest daughter of my main family, a half-alien. who moved out on her own into a converted warehouse before eventually being turned into a vampire. because of that, she's one of the more modern types, not into all the dark and gothic (she's an outdoor loving internet personality). i'll eventually have something similar, when i turn one of my criminal sims into a vampire, too. modern setting, big windows, computers, tvs, all that.

exterior is kind of a wreck, esp the back yard

    https://gyazo.com/d2b499f823b215c07898a55dc33fe09c

the pool area there in the back is from the gallery, jacuzzi fountain pool by sjemmie. and it just fits so well for an outdoor lover (i've put insects, frogs, and crystals around it. and moved some buydebug fish and crawfish into the bottom of the pool)

she's all about boho, as her upstairs study shows: https://gyazo.com/2e9af4d8f3c062140f55242e5a105c34
her bedroom, with her teenage sister (apparently visiting) sleeping in the bed for some reason: https://gyazo.com/6fa67d5a6817d6ad0b21b72c45e9ae44
the mostly open floorplan of the main floor is elementally themed. fire for kitchen, water for dining area, earth for living. the bathroom was done to look outdoorsy, and the room in the lower right is both toddler room and butler room. https://gyazo.com/79b0e900418da2fedbd545c13c53773f
and, the basement is the games room (bowling, foosball, some toys for the kids, puppet theatre, cards table. as well as rooms for each of her kids. the right side is her 'fully human' (1/4 alien) daughter, the middle is her 'fully alien' (3/4 alien) son, and the left is her vampire son, who just recently aged up from toddlerhood. as a bonus, her mother (also visiting) is apparently napping on the vampire son's couch. oh, and her father is on the daughter's couch, too. https://gyazo.com/9bd2807c833973689deaff50bc9722e6

last up, for households, at least, is barnabus skye. according to info you can find in city living, he's the founder of the city of san myshuno, and the previous owner of the park in said city (it says he donated the land for the park when his manor burned down, with the stipulation that they had to keep the observatory). he was said to be both a scientist and a fishing mogul. my original plan was to make him a ghost, but then vampires got announced and that's what he became. i moved him to the largest lot in willow creek, into a gorgeous plantation house, tenebraea by xinqun. this one, too, had some alterations made, mostly just vampire additions or little things like a bird feeder (...i like bird feeders...). one of the rooms was also turned into a butler's room, again, for 'live-in snacks'.

    exterior: https://gyazo.com/5cc61acc17c80272ad83e46e2877b04e
    https://gyazo.com/2b40fb06bc7c39f1d84e68b9fc5bcf63

some interior: https://gyazo.com/bf49e1e69e7b8a8b142d55b59e07ffcd (a few minor alterations to the kids room, with his daughter ophelia playing with her dollhouse. he was abducted by aliens at some point during play, so has a fully alien daughter, who i have decided is going to eventually marry phlox, the alien son from the earlier household. they're both unique in that they're from families that are both alien and vampire at once, so figured that'd be a thing that'd make them connect as kids, and eventually fall in love.
all the white doesn't quite sit right with me, but it's very slow at gaining other colors, even when i play the household. general floor plans here: upper floor: https://gyazo.com/5cb252f98559c0948f50b3655918de94
ground floor: https://gyazo.com/d6aaf45b955c0710e737b112809b903a (i had to add a lot of backyard stuff like lemonade trays, windchimes and such just because they fit the plantation idea so well. hard to see in floorplan mode, though)
and then, there's the basement, barnabus' secret little vampire scientist mancave, though he rarely visits it. science equipment, potions and herbalism potions scattered around, with his coffin should he ever need it rather than the bed in the master bedroom.

and, while it's not a residential lot, last on the list is also in willow creek, a graveyard with a vampire bar beneath it, very, very loosely based on the one you could find in bridgeport in the sims 3. it was designed to have two entrances for competing clubs (brute squad goes in 'directly' through a crypt locked to anyone but them, 'council of masques' is meant to go through a secret entrance deeper within the public catacombs full of urns of sims that have passed away. i've actually been slowly replacing all the bb.showhiddenobjects random urns and tombstones (other than the 'decor' ones) with those of sims that pass away. and there are spots for normal sims, vampires, and aliens among all the urn/tombstone areas.

there are two versions of this up on the gallery. the first one was a total work in progress, and put up as a proof of concept before the vampire pack even came out. the second one had some adjustments made, and was put out after the pack. both are up on the gallery under my name (same on gallery as here) if anyone's interested. figured may as well plug my own build, since i did for others up above. it uses a lot of romantic garden stuff and, while it lists pretty much every pack ever, many of the items used from them are various flowers i put as memorial items in front of different tombstones.

i'd love to replace this secret door with one that's not a bookshelf, but this is all we've got, so far. https://gyazo.com/146a9e41d33a8ce5568e161f59b3d895

here's the main bar. the stairway leads right up to the 'brute squad' entrance. as a bonus, it looks like caleb is tending tonight. https://gyazo.com/13bb80c50d3cd95bb75de85b1bd4bbae behind him is an area with a fridge, some counters, and two plasma fruit trees

bathrooms, lounge/reading area, two rooms set aside for vampiric napping. the sim in the red shirt is watching a tv on the wall (need a tv for bar venue), and the other set of bathrooms are actually attached to the public crypts. https://gyazo.com/2aed56a98c4965c54af6533fb35a0b75
and, last up here, the pipe organ room (with pools on the sides to give it a unique look, and the stairs down to the hidden entrance in the lower part of the public crypts. https://gyazo.com/9a435ed48a15053ce6b547939bda95c3

You remember our venerable house, opulent and imperial, gazing proudly from its stoic perch above the moor.

I lived all my years in that ancient rumor shadowed manor, fattened by decadence and luxury, and yet I began to tire of... conventional extravagance. Singular unsettling tales suggested the mansion itself was a gateway to some fabulous and unnameable power. With relic and ritual, I bent every effort towards the excavation and recovery of those long buried secrets, exhausting what remained of our family fortune on... swarthy workmen and... sturdy shovels. At last, in the salt soaked crags beneath the lowest foundations, we unearthed that damnable portal of antediluvian evil. Our every step unsettled the ancient earth, but we were in a realm of death and madness. In the end, I alone fled, laughing and wailing through those blackened arcades of antiquity. Until consciousness failed me.

You remember our venerable house, opulent and imperial, it is a festering abomination. I beg you, return home, claim your birthright and deliver our family from the ravenous clutching shadows of the Darkest Dungeon.
