For the past month, the Origin app has been giving me issues. Every time I try to open the app it "opens" but never actually shows up on my computer. I am on a mac, so the little dot at the bottom shows up meaning it is running in the background. Unfortunately, when I try to force quit the app still won't quit. The ONLY way I have been able to close the app is to shut down my computer. I have uninstalled and re-installed the app many times, but nothing works. Becuase of the app not working, I have not been able to play the Sims I am not sure what to do anymore.

When you open it, even though you can't see it, can you launch the game from within your Applications folder? Also when it's open is it showing the Origin menu in the menu bar?
