Were you around for the sims 3 store cause it was pretty much the same model. Also tbh i love the vampire game pack it was really well planned and thoughtout i think add some new stuff to the game but the sims 3 did the same charge for items in between expansion packs but it was alot more money than what the sims 4 charges
Sims 3 had so many EP's, that it didn't matter. You weren't depending on the SP's or Store stuff to have things to do. At this stage, buying every EP for Sims 3 plus basegame, the game cost €300 (that's 6 EP's). That's €360 for Sims 4 (buying everything, my source for that is a topic someone created concerning this). In Sims 3 by this time we had tombs, martial arts, nectar making, open careers, the ability to have a self imployed career, a city, nightclubs, mixogology, bands, bunk beds, spiral stairs, pubescent behaviour, midlife crises, pets, magicians, acrobats, singers, mummies, simbots, vampires, imaginary friends, unicorns and genies. Plus 6 worlds (and 3 additional worlds).

Couldn't you also get store items for free in S3 if you played the ad game (I think it was the ads) on the store site? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Dissatisfied with Sims 4 and hoping for a better Sims 5

Watching ads, yes. But for a long time that was only a privilege for Americans :disappointed: Only after Sims 4 had been released the rest of the world could benefit from that; I have quite a few items from the Store for free that way ;)

I agree with OP. The game was getting really dry for me until the vampire came along. If I don't have different things to play around with, my interest in the game falters. I do like some of the stuff packs that add new interactions and fun items, but If I can't find any new interesting content then it all feels kind of... shallow. However, I do believe that we'll be getting more game/expansion packs in the future. The toddlers and vampire spurred up a lot of hype in a short amount of time which has given me a lot of restored faith in the sims 4.

    YE!

Yeah... Sorry sims 4, you gotta catch up! They are doing better [ Vampires, Toddlers, adding new features with stuff packs, etc. ], so maybe they will fix this before the lifespan for sims 4 ends.

More recently, they have been doing better with these stuff packs. Adding new features [ Ice cream, lemonade, wishing fountains, etc. ] to each stuff pack really helps them stand out.

Honestly I'm not seduced by the most of the themes, only Spooky Stuff and Kids Room Stuff were very interesting.

It was already the case with TS2 and TS3, I'm not a fan of Stuff Packs.

I think the ideas of TS3 Store were more interesting : Magic, Casino, Future, Versailles, ...

I guess, but at least they are adding new features with the stuff packs

No, they are not rabbit holes. That is something that Sims 3 players like to say. The Sims just disappear off world, and if you have the active careers, you can go there with them. The Sims 2 did the same thing and no one called them rabbit holes. Downgrade??? Right well in Sims 3 if your sim went dining out, they jumped into some building and gave you "updates" on what they were doing... For me, Just no. I considered that a downgrade after restaurants in Sims 2. And it is not really possible with todays tech to create an open world like you envision. The game has to account for and animate all those active Sims.

You may think of Sims 4 as a "downgrade" because you are in love with some of Sims 3 features (obviously open world being one of them). But I was not enamored of the Open world and I never saw it as an upgrade no matter how Rod Humble tried to present it as such when angry Sims 2 players complained about the limitation it brought for them. Great if you like Sims 3, but as a player who prefers Sims 4, I don't want it made into another Sims 3.

    agreed
more for sim kids and more drama please
