Display Current Neighbourhood Time in Map View

As a rotational player, I often have to deal with the aggravation of loading a lot, only to find that my Sims are all missing work or school. In order to avoid the sometimes very large performance hit this can take - to both active and non-active careers - I have to go back to the main menu without saving, load my save file again, then try to pick a different family that won't be missing work. It's a big waste of time.

It would save me so much time if the map view had a small box showing the current in-game time and day of the week. That way I know when to avoid work hours and school hours. Since the in-game time is always the same, I shouldn't imagine this would be too hard.

(Mind you, an even better solution would be to make it so that your Sims will automatically be at work if they're supposed to be at work when you load the lot - but the two ideas aren't mutually exclusive! )

In map view, if you click on a lot, portraits of the household sims appear in the lower left corner. If you hover the arrow over one at a time it tells you where they are. If they are away from home, the portrait is softer than others.

That doesn't work for Sims that are at work - at least not in my game. It will claim that they are at home, rather than greying them out, because they are at home; the game won't send them to work when they should be at work. Does that make sense?

Even Sims who are away from the lot will usually be there if I load the one Sim who's already at the lot, even if it claimed in that greyed-out map view that they were somewhere else.

Thank you very much!! It seems like such a simple thing to change so I hope they adjust it. We know they can edit the map since they added a coloured version of the map in a free update.

I was just thinking about this dilema right before I scrolled and found your thread.

I just turned aging off and am deciding to just use the sim days and time, ie. sim hours= rl minutes to keep track of my sims age. An in-game calendar of sorts would be great for me.

IDK? Maybe they might see this and possibly add this to seasons? Well, that what I hope could happen?

Now I save and quit the game once my sims stop to sleep the morning.

I should write in the savegame name the day of the week and the time like this : [Name of the savegame]-Su08am (Sunday, 8 am)
The savegame name is limited to 32 characters.

I would totally use this. They could fix this issue as well because it's so annoying when I have one sim that works evenings and everyone else during the day because I have to wait for everyone to get to work. Also they randomly appear again if you go back before they get off work or school and it will hurt performance. That and sims that have jobs that are not being played seem to forget they even have jobs and I'll see them all day and all night around the town.

I agree, but I do have one question and only cause I don't pay attention between families, time and day. Say you have two sim families that you play with......are they both on the same day AND time or different? Cause if they are different (say its 1pm Thursday with one family and then its 5am on a Tuesday for another family), how would this idea work?

@Bear31 - In Sims 4, both families will always be on the same time and day. There is only one universal time in each save file.
