It's time! Hi Mama Dragon, and welcome to the gift exchange. I was very happy to see you join us and then doubly happy to get you as my gifting buddy. I know you play a lot of apocalypses and very challenging starts. Keeping that in mind, I tried to make some lots that would fit your style of play and blend into your hoods.

So, let's start with a starter!

Hey, thanks for stopping by @60smusicluvr! I'm glad we are finally ready to rock and roll!

I'll start with a very basic black and white and shades of grey starter house that fits in well in that trailer section of Riverview.

The good news is that you get a couple bedrooms, baths, and laundry for a starter budget. I think of you as a move-in-ready type of player who prefers to have the furnishings evolve over time, but I did want a home that would support a NPC Sim.

Just like any home you would buy in real life - empty of all but the basics.

You did some interesting things with the roofs that I would never have thought of. Huh. I probably would have gotten frustrated trying to figure out how to do a roof that would look good there, so I just learned something from you.

Manufacturing Magnificence has magnificent "bones". It's symmetrical but not a boring box. The spacious, efficient layout will will suit a growing family... which is good because GranMamaD often has a house full of sims

morning, still a bit bleary eyed, these are awesome starters @Ciane thank you

with the black or white I can already see how the house will help a sims favorite color will pop in the setting as will simple vases of flowers from the fields.

The MM looks great, and I love how the green trim pops against the brick exterior. This will be fun for uni and for broke students to fill with found furnishings, or sim in any world starting out to fill with found furnishings until they can afford to buy their own.

Yep, you said you liked rural areas, so I made all these lots (and played) in Riverview. It's where I played out my 10-generation legacy.

@ciane - You know I love starters and these two are super. I think they would be fun to play a decorate and furnish as you go type of game.
I've been following your Apocalypse story and thinking I might try one now. I need to find the rules.

@Kgaff - There are links to rules at the top of the legacy tab, which has a link to the Apocalypse challenge I just finished as well as the start of my first apocalypse challenge that I didn't finish.

And a decorate and furnish as I go is my normal play. I usually start poor and work up a career ladder, completing the home as time goes along.

What a marvelous gift the story is! It really gives one a feel for the sims and the world they live in. The Reed kids have a long ways to go ahead of them, but have been given some helpful clears so hopefully their future is a bit brighter than their parents.

I have finally had time to get back here and read your story and look at everything you've made beyond the first house. I like the touches of just a little color in the second starter and the ample living space to fill up later.

I've never played an Apocalypse challenge and enjoyed reading your story. Couldn't help but feel sorry for Reed with no chair or bed at first and no shower! Poor guy. Not sure I could play this without *cheating.* I have the rebellious trait and I am already saying 'why not play the radio and keep the flowers!" hehe Anyway, I really do love the run-down apocalyptic style house - that store set with the doors/windows is one of my favorites.
