Okay so my sims 3 game seems to crash every time I open it and it makes me upset because it worked perfectly fine with all my expansions but then recently it just doesn't want to stay open. My laptop has enough space for everything but I still don't know why. Should I just get a new Sims 3 or?
Comments
-- Where is it crashing, upon trying to start up the game program in the very beginning, while a saved game starts loading up, or after having played it for a while?
-- Does this happen only when trying to load a particular saved game, any of them, or even when trying to start up a new test game?
-- If you are on the new Patch 1.69 with the Launcher's EP/SP Chooser, could it be that you are trying to load up a game that has seen various EPs, but without those EPs selected (checked off) in the Chooser? Games that have been played with certain EPs cannot be loaded up without those packs present. The new Launcher does not do a very good job of remembering selections in between game sessions and needs to be checked every time, again if you are on 1.69.
-- Have you added any CC or mods recently and checked to see if those might be the culprits?
-- Have you tried clearing your TS3 game folder's 5 cache files before starting up?

We can try to help you, but we need more information than just your game is crashing. If you could, please answer the above questions about your game and try the things suggested.
I see the original thread hasn't gone anywhere since last month, but if the game worked well at one time but now refuses to load, you might also try pulling your entire TS3 game folder out of Documents to your Desktop for safekeeping, thus forcing the game to spawn a new one on its next attempted launch, and see if you can get a new game started and saved that way. There will be no installed content, worlds, sims, mods, or saved games this way, but those will all be safe back in the pulled out folder and this one is just for testing.

Put half of your mods back in and try to start up. If okay, put in half of what remains. If not, take out half of the half you just put in. Proceed backwards and forwards by remaining halves until you isolate the culprit(s).

I'm a relative newcomer to TS3 myself, started playing in late 2011, and never had any problems with WA. I play with all EPs now as do many others. I suspect that whatever issues that one had in the beginning were worked out in a patch long before I even arrived on the scene.

There are folks here who can help you with crashy and glitching games. But I'm sorry, we need more information than "my game is crashing." We are familiar with various combinations of hardware and many things that are fixable to improve game performance, but we cannot see into your computers to know what is happening. Sorry, we just don't have the clairvoyant trait here.
Please help us help you. We need to know the specs of the system you are playing on, a dxdiag as just described above would be the most help if on Windows or info from About this Mac if on that version, what has changed if anything to trigger the problems, how many and which EPs are in play, do you use CC and has anything new been added recently.
Otherwise we are just guessing at what's wrong and that's not likely to be very helpful.

Ah. Okay, that's a bit more information than we had before although it would help to know which model Mac (model name, processor, graphics, RAM all from About This Mac under the Apple Menu) as stated.
TS3 for Mac can be painful at times. It's the program and the awful way EA ported it over from Windows to OS X, often not the computer. It sounds like you are experiencing graphics issues, which are common with some of the newer Macs' graphics being incompatible with the game, and it could be that you are getting close to or hitting the 2 GB RAM limit that TS3 for Mac unfortunately comes with. Are you purging RAM frequently throughout play, especially before and after CAS sessions?

(note that the section towards the end with instructions for Mavericks and Yosemite also applies to El Capitan)

You will want to read this thread http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/840249/macs-that-have-intel-iris-graphics#latest
Yeah, gameplay on that one is going to be touch and go. Until earlier this year, most players on that graphics chip couldn't even get their games started, it was an impossible incompatibility to overcome then an Origin update from around March seems to have smoothed things over for many. But it's still not going to be perfect and the 2 GB RAM restriction and the need to Purge RAM frequently throughout play still exists, always will for TS3 for Mac unfortunately.
