I had Sims 4 downloaded and installed on my desktop, from the moment they released it (through origin). It worked wonderfully. I uninstalled it about 5 months ago because I hadn't really been playing it too often, and figured if I wanted to play it again, I could just reinstall it. Which I've been trying to do for the past week. I downloaded/installed the Sims 3 through origin and it worked fine. Then I tried sims 4 and it downloaded, and it installs, but right as it completes, the message "Error:the VC++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully. Setup cannot continue. (1)" comes up and then it gives me the option to reinstall the Sims 4 again. I have tried uninstalling origin and reinstalling it, the same error comes up. As well as following the instructions from " forums.the sims .com/en_US/ discussion/ 864654/update- error- error- the- vc- runtime- redistributable - package- was- not- installed- successfully/ p2." I've done everything, including uninstalling security updates and adjusting my firewall/antivirus. I've even ran it as an admin. I'm lost now and really want to play Sims 4. I've even heard this happens with the disc, so I fear if I go buy the Sims 4 disc, it'll keep happening. Please help! Thank you

This link refers to your error mesage. If you haven't done what is in that link, try doing that and see if that helps.

If you still have issues, another simmer who had the same issue as you posted this .

I fixed it. I had to uninstall all the visual c++ packages from my computer and reinstall them. Just reinstalling did nothing but keep the damaged files.

I've done what that link told me to. The problem is, those files (after downloading) aren't in the folder it says. And even after I download those files over and over, or even uninstall them and reinstall them, I still get that error message. I would format my desktop but it's my mothers and she would kill me, so I'm really looking for any way to get it to work. It's becoming ridiculous and I feel like I'm getting annoying trying to ask people for help.

Try completely shutting down your computer. Then start the computer, log in to origin and try to launch the game.

Go to Windows Update and make sure that the rest of your computer updates are up to date.

Have you tried reinstalling sims 4 again? If you haven't done that, try reinstalling it

Yes, I've reinstalled it and at the end of it installing, it says it's complete then that's when the error pops up. I've shut my computer down, left it for hours off and turned it back on, right back to the same error after trying to install it. I will keep trying though. Again, thank you

It shouldn't happen with the disc or downloaded from Origin. I installed the game using the disc and I don't get this.

Can you perhaps try uninstalling TS4 and then update your Windows? Once you're done, reinstall the game again.

I cant even uninstall it, it's not fully installed in the first place. That's what makes this so difficult.

Try shutting down your computer completely again. Start the computer again and then see if you can uninstall the update then.

Okay, now that you have found it, is Origin installing the game or what? Are you getting an installing bar at the bottom of Origin? Or nothing?

If you still can't continue to install it after restarting your computer, try manually uninstalling it.

So I downloaded ts4 yesterday and came back to my comp and origin said it downloaded, but didn't install. So I clicked install, and the little bar loads until it's complete, and right when it says complete, the error message pops up. I've uninstalled everything and reinstalled it all. So I'm lost now. I'll try to uninstall it manually and see how that goes. Thank you.

Were you able to uninstall the security update after restarting the computer? If the issue continues, try shutting down / restarting the computer and then see if you can uninstall the security update like was posted in the link.

Was not able to uninstall the security update.. I'm working on manually uninstalling sims 4. I did shut my comp down and turned it back on, went to delete the update and it still wouldn't let me.

In the manual uninstall link, it said to open up a maxis file, which isn't even in the section it said it would be in.

Is sims 4 installed on your computer? The files may not be there if the installation has been completed. When you click on the sims 4 picture in My Games in Origin, is there an option to uninstall sims 4 or does it say download/install?

We were posting at the same time I hope that the reinstalling goes better and that you don't have the error this time!

Back when I tried downloading it the first time, it was being interrupted by that error. But I found the sims 4 file in my documents. And then when I went to go click play on origin, it would only say install

I hope that the reinstalling goes better this time and the error message doesn't appear. I am so sorry that you are having these issues. It would be tiring and upsetting for you. You will enjoy playing sims 4 once these issues are fixed.
