[FIXED] Cowplant death: no resurrection after giving deathflower

Hi,

I think I have a bug.

After giving the deathflower to the Grim Reaper because my Sim is eaten by a cowplant, Grim Reaper takes the Sim anyway. I get the notification the Sims life is spared, for a brief moment the picture re-appears in my user panel, but then the gravestone appears (and the picture disappears and so does my Sim).

Besides repairing all my games and removing my caches, I started a new game. Same story. So I tried a different death. This time the Sim was resurrected after giving the deathflower to the Grim Reaper. Whether I use the cowplant or cowplant seed from debug, or use a cowplant seed by fishing, either way the same story.

I hardly can't find any information about my problem and I would really like to know if it's something I did (or didn't do) to cause this problem or that's a bug. I tried many times, every time with small changes in circumstances (different Sim that's eaten by the cowplant, no other ghosts on the lot, debug cowplant vs cowplant without cheats, etc.) to exclude things that might cause the problem. But there are just to much possibilities when it comes to creating the right circumstances. Especially because I have no clue what I'am looking for. I thought it had maybe something to do with the cowplant I got by cheating but it doesn't because the problem also occurred when I use the cowplant seed from fishing.

I don't use any CC or mods. I do use a Sim from my library that I saved with the Bestselling Author Aspiration completed (so he only needs to write the Book of life). But even when I don't use this Sim, or don't write the epic saga for the Sim I'am about to kill off, the story goes the same.

I have installed: Get together, Romantic Garden stuff, Movie Stuff and the Free packs.

Any suggestions, tips or whatever you want to share that might help, it's much appreciated.

Thankyou for posting about the issue. If you haven't done this already, try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then add back the "options.ini" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders.

I just tried that. I didn't work. I killed two Sims off and the story goes the same as described in my first message.
I would place pictures but there is something wrong with my rights on the USA forum (I have enough points and messages) because I still can't place pictures threw the forum (I need to use a extern upload site).

Maybe I also needs to reset my tray folder and saves. But them back: one save/library creation at a time.
(because I also can't unbind Sims from the voodoo doll: I wonder if there is a connection with the cowplant thing).

Or, before I do that because it's a lot of work, first reset The Sims 4 folder completely and put nothing back (except options.ini), start a new game and try again, from scratch. If that works, then changes are there is something corrupted in my saves/tray folder.

In my current The Sims 4 folder and the resetted one (with only the folders/files back you mention) I always get a lastException.txt (not the other one, I forgot which extension that is). I thought this file only appears when the game crashes (which hasn't happen). Do you know if that's true? Because if that's true, maybe it's a clue about what's going on.

Hello.
First try doing this. Go to your save folder in Documents -Electronic Arts-Sims 4 folder and move the slot_00000001.save file. to your desktop. That is the autosave file and could be causing issues. Then launch the game. Go to the load button ( the one with the floppy disk image) in the main screen in the game, load one of your game files, play the game and test to see if the issue is still there.

If you still have issues, try moving the sims 4 folder to the desktop again. Then launch the game. Then start a new game, and test to see if the same thing occurs. By doing that, you will be able to test to see if the files in your saves folder are causing issues.
If the issue is not there then , you can then try putting the saves back into the new saves folder one by one to test if there is a corrupt file.

To post pictures on the forums, you need to upload your pictures to a photo sharing site such as imgur , photobucket or tinypic . Right click the picture on the photo sharing website , and click copy. Or you can copy the direct link code that is on the left or right hand side of the site page. The picture button is the button with the little file picture on it above the forum post. Press the picture button above your post , paste the image address into the box, then press the enter button. Then the image address will be in your post ready to appear when posting your post.

I never use the autosave or the big play button to play. I always load my own games or a new game with the +. And I always Save as (and never just save) and give a name to the game. Can a corrupt autosave then still cause problems in my game?

I will try you're game suggestions tomorrow. It's already midnight over here and I could use a break from the cowplant.

The autosave file can still cause issues in games, even though you don't load the autosave game file.

Perhaps tomorrow the best step first would be to try moving the sims 4 folder to the desktop again. Then launch the game. Then start a new game, and test to see if the same thing occurs. By doing that, you will be able to test to see if the files in your saves folder are causing issues.

I hope you slept well.

Today I tried with a completely new The Sims 4 folder with non of my saves, tray items, etc. I didn't put anything back.

It didn't help. The same problem occurred. I tried several times. I also tried the voodoodoll, again I couldn't unbind it. I wonder if the problems have anything to do with all the cheats I use (cheats for the objects/plants I use, cheats to fulfill the needs of the Sims and sometimes cheats to evolve skills quickly). Because I'am not really playing, I'am making tuts for my site. So I want to figure out if I'am not making a mistake so I don't accidentally translate that tot my tut. I made some pictures. Grim Reaper accepts the deatflower, I get the purple notification that the Sim is saved, but then the Grim Reaper still takes his tablet out, does his hocus pocus thing with his hands and takes my Sim.

Do you have any more suggestions or ideas about what's going on because I don't know.

Hello,
With the death flower, it needs to be another sim that has the death flower in their inventory and gives the death flower to the Grim Reaper to save your sim. Is it your sim that dies that tries to hand the flower to him? If it is, that may be the issue.

No, it's (always) another Sims that gives the deathflower (it's never the Sim I'am about to kill off).

I am not sure why this happening in your game. You are getting the notification that your sim has been saved, but then the Grim Reaper takes her.
Perhaps you may need to post about the issue on the AHQ EA site thread as well.

I am sorry that you have this issue and wish that I could find something else to help with your issue. Please update here if you are able to find the cause.

Over at the Dutch forum, when I help players, I often know the answer and when I don't know the answer, I often figure it out anyway. So I can imagine it's probably (to some degree) frustrating for you that you can't solve this problem. I know it's for me, to eventually have to say: "I don't know, I can't help". I really do not like that. I'am a strong believer (or hopeful) that most, if not all, problems can be solved.

Thank you for you're empathy. In a way it helps me that even you don't know the answer. I have seen you're name (and beautiful avatar) many times when you help people. So I know, you know a thing or two (me to but If I don't I'am very capabel to find solutions I there are any to find). So when you don't know the answer, changes are I'am not doing something wrong. Because we excluded the most obvious causes.

I will update if I'am able to find the cause and solution.

Hi Rosemow,

For now, I think this is my last update (because at the moment there is nothing more to report or do). The status of the bug report is open (which means: "These are bugs that are confirmed to be still in the game and have no known workaround.") and it has been added tot the Compiled list of Bugs (under aging/dying): Cowplant death: no resurrection after giving deathflower.

I'am sure glad there is nothing more I can do to resolve this issue, because it was driving me crazy to keep trying to succeed in resurrection after giving the deathflower to the Grim Reaper. I do hope it gets resolved.

Just wanted to tell this bug should be fixed with patch 1.36 (thanks Crinrict for letting me know).

It is great that it has been fixed
