Collections Reset When Managing Households / Exchanging Household Members
What happened:
Founder household had gained quite a few items under miscellaneous collections.
Had collected all but a few My Sim Dolls, Metals, Frogs, Fish Etc.
I was playing the beginning of the fourth generation.
To limit the number of household members I decided to move out one of the third generation heirs.
The children of the fourth generation were born on another lot.
I decided to ask their mother to move into the Founder lot.
Actually I switched out the Father (on the Founder lot) for the fourth generation twin children.
When the switch was completed the game switched to the other household instead of staying on the Founder lot.
No big deal (or so I thought) I just went to Manage Household and switched back to the Founder lot.
I had just completed the Space Rock Collection but did not get the notice.
Fortunately I still had those items so I just pulled them into personal inventory so they would count.
That was when I noticed the other items previously collected were no longer showing in the Collections tab.
I had almost collected all the (20) fish to complete the Angler Aspiration but it showed 0/20 in the tally.
I was selling things as they were collected to meet the Fortune Aspiration and to avoid excess inventory.
Except for recollecting all those fish, frogs, harvestable items etc I do not know a good / non-cheat alternative.

FYI: Before rearranging the households I had created a fresh folder and copied my saves into the new folder.
I use Zero CC and do not use any Mods.
Repair Game is a frequent action and after this discovery I tried that option with no changes.

Simmers have found that when a sim is moved out of their household, their collections are then reset to empty. It is what has happened in your game as well.

Could you perhaps try rolling back to an earlier save game file version before you moved out the sim? This link explains how to do that.

@ButtonsGinger This happened in my Highlander Crest Challenge.
Knowing there are no points to tally I still am trying to avoid cheats.
The Space Rock Collection is only four items and my household collected all four.
However I was really trying to collect the Elements, Metals, Crystals and etc just so I could meet the Achievements.

Yes that is what happened in my game.

I will see if I have the files necessary to roll back. I had played and saved several Sim days after the move before realizing the collections were reset.

I am also curious to know why the game does not go back to the original lot when moving Sims between households.

Edit: To clarify I was using the 'Ask to move in' option.
Not sure if using the Manage World option does the same thing.

Could it be that the collection is only tied to the household? So when you split them, somehow it got messed up and it will reset.

Good point. I am playing the Highlander Challenge by @Buttonsginger
The Founder is kept in the Young Adult stage via Youth Potion. She collected the majority of the fish and elements and remains as the head of household. I thought the collections were associated to the household. I did not intentionally switch to the other household.
My intent was for the Founder household to remain as the one I keep playing.

Hello.
The collections are tied to the household but it seems that an error occurs when a sim from that household is moved out.

Luckily the collectibles do not play into this particular challenge.
More like my personal goals are impacted.
Pretty sure I will live ... just not happy about this turn of events.
