Hi everyone
I have a laptop and Windows 8.1 and after some problems installing the game and then using with the compatibility mode (XP) it was working fine. I think I was on windows 8 when 3 days ago, it did an update to 8.1 (not sure if this is the problem) and it is not working anymore. What happens is I click on the icon (so it means it recognises the cd, right ?) and get the small blue Sims window where I click Play. Then, absolutely nothing happens, the cd is not loading. If I do ctrl/alt/del and go to Task manager, it shows that the game is not running. Anyone could help please ? I am not very tech savvy so hopefully the answer will be an easy one ! Thanks in advance

To play The Sims games, you have to run as administrator or it will fail to work.
There is a strong possibility that the windows update could be the issue. I don't have Windows 8 but when an update for Windows 7 was installed, my game failed to work. The solution was to uninstall the update and then hide it (to prevent it from re-installing).
