Sims 4 born to be poor This is a challenge to stay poor and have lots of kids throughout all your generations it’s going to be stressful and chaotic. There are rules to help you from getting to much money. So let’s see if you can stand everyone stinky tired and stressed out, and resist the temptation of earning money.
Starting off • Create one young adult and only one • every sim must have the kleptomaniac trait except the sims you marry (klepto help clutter your place and also increases your bills) • All traits and aspirations can be randomized or not up to you (aspirations may be changed if you get a fortune aspirations and if you get these traits materialistic, snob, hates kids) • Buy the biggest lot and reduce your money check the difficulty level on witch you want to play (testingcheats true then money to what you want it to be)
Difficulty level Pick what difficulty level you will play on difficulty level is all about how much money you start off with. If you mod your game and wont a bigger challenge get Realistic Higher, Harder Bills by SerenityKat
idiot-proof $3000 Easy $2000 Medium $1500 Hard $1000 Ridiculous $0 (this is extremely hard when starting off you will have cranky, hungry, sleep deprived sims)
Rules • each week you must - collect 1 thing - make 1 thing - steal 1 thing (you actually have to steal it not just your sim steals it from work) • You cannot move in anyone till you are married to them • To get married you must save up and have a proper wedding • Your spouse can not bring any money into the household when moving in • must be married to have kids but you can have an accidental pregnancy but then you must get married before the baby comes • you can get divorced and remarried as many times as you want but you have to have a proper wedding each time •you must have 5 children at least. So you have 2 parents 5 kids and 1 spot free for the next heirs spouse (if you use mods get the try for baby in larger households by claudiasharon so you can have more kids) • All kids must stay in the household they may never leave • Teens may not get jobs •picking the heir is up to you, you can do random roll, only male or only female, or just pick etc • you must pay the bills as soon as you have enough money • 2 people may only have jobs in the household • Only allowed to get to level 2 in any career, if your sim exceeds this they must quit there job and can get a new one • elders cant retire only quit jobs • any items that burn down cant be replaced or sold • Any item you are given for example from getting prompted or throwing a party the items cannot be sold and must be put on display as soon as you can place them • any upgrade parts (you get from repairing items) must be put around the house or yard. and not sold • Can’t sell anything you create you must have them around the house • Any harvest-able and fish cannot be sold put them in the fridge or eat them • cant fish or garden as a career but can fish and garden as a hobby • Any collectibles can’t be sold display them around the house or in the yard • if you want to paint you can never sell a painting hang them around your house • You cannot play for tips music is free and should be shared with everyone • You must cook your meals rather than picking a quick meal if you don’t have a fridge find a barbecue • Once you buy an item and leave the buy mode you can never sell that item ever again • Cannot store anything in your family inventory so everything must be on your property (you can make a garbage yard on your property) • with aspiration points you cant buy these free services, entrepreneurial, frugal, connections. but potion of youth may be used once per generation • grave must be placed on lot and not allowed to release them • you cant use the ornate beauty or the buyer beware • you cannot return stolen items
if i have added rules while you are playing the challenge use the new rule from once you have read them and change your game if possible other wise just ignore them till you can use them
Generation roll once you have chosen the next heir and on the heirs young adult birthday You will roll a dice whatever the dice rolls on follow the instructions
1. A fire has started in your house it has destroyed a 10 by 10 square footage. Remember what your starting funds were before the fire started, delete everything in that 10 by 10 section (walls, floors, doors, windows, furniture, flowers, grass, benches) you may keep a few prize possessions like a painting or plant. whatever funds you got from deleting the area remove the funds
2. The government have found severely building violations in the next week you have to come up with $5000 dollars if you don’t have the cash you must sell your furniture to come up with it (this is the only time you are allowed to sell your furniture so pick wisely what you sell)
3. Some one sees your trashy little place and decides to show pity on you, they give you $700
4. The neighborhood society has seen your yard and are disgusted buy all the things lying around your yard, they have given you two chooses 1. Fence of a section of yard at least 10 by 10 and put everything in it that is lying around your yard (I am hoping you have things lying on your yard like gifts from the weddings and stuff) 2. They give you a $2000 fine you pick witch one. if you have rolled on this option twice and have already built a fence you must pay the fine
5. Everyone is really stressed out you decide to throw a big party on your lot get everything you need for the party new clothes for everyone (which you have to buy from a mannequin if you don't have a mannequin use the money cheat and take away $200 for each of your sims) a bar, flowers etc. whatever you need to make this party fantastic
6. You decide to help the environment buy $1500 worth of plant stuff (tress, rocks, flowers, garden beds etc.)
Sounds like a good challenge I still have a few questions
1. I like the dice rolls! But when do I choose my heir? When one of the children becomes YA? When all of them are YA?
2. Dice roll option 4 says either fence off an area for the stuff or pay 2500. Why would I ever want to pick to pay 2500 when simply building a fence is much cheaper? Where's the motivation?
3. Dice roll option 5 says buy clothes from a mannequin. What if I don't have GTW?
4. Have you play-tested this?
5. When does the challenge end?
1. it up to you
2. thankyou I'll have to reconsider that one
3. just you testingcheats on then the money cheat and take away $100 for each sim you have
4. I have play tested a couple of generations, really hard in the beginning (If you want to play test it for me and give me your opinions that would be great)
5. I didn't want to put an end to it, but if I had to I would say when you get more than $30,000 the game ends and you get 10 points for each generation you had before you exceeded the money limit. and it can be a challenge against fellow simmers to try get the highest score (haven't play tested this yet the range of the money might change)

All kids must stay in the household they may never leave (this rule properly won’t work without these mods try for baby in larger households by claudiasharon, Full House Mod - Increase your Household Size! by TwistedMexi)
If I don't want mods in my game couldn't I just limit my household to 7 so there is room for a spouse?
ETA: Another question: Do you have to be married to have kids?
I can see that you thought well about this challenge with a few tweaks and clarifications it's gonna be great
@MissCharlie Glad you worked it out you still have an img tag in front of your picture you might want to delete that ^^ If you like you could make the link like this:
With your end game condition: Couldn't I just buy lots of expensive statues to reduce my funds? That wouldn't make me poor per se right? So does the household worth count?
An important part of creating a challenge is testing it.
Just offering my opinion and realize this is still a Work-In-Progress {WIP}
Are all the goals achievable?
I am not able to see how this would work.
• 2 people may only have jobs in the household
• Only allowed to get to level 2 in any career *Understand this part.
• Any item you are given for example from getting prompted or throwing a party the items cannot be sold and must be put on display as soon as you can place them
• Can’t sell anything you create you must have them around the house
• Any harvest-able and fish cannot be sold put them in the fridge
• Any collectibles can’t be sold
• You cannot play for tips music is free and should be shared with everyone
• You must cook your meals rather than picking a quick meal if you don’t have a fridge find a barbecue
• Once you buy an item and leave the buy mode you can never sell that item ever again
• Cannot store anything in your family inventory so everything must be on your property (you can make a garbage yard on your property)
I can see your Sim soon running out of space and property values rising.
The fridge will soon be a mess of piles of fish and harvested plants.
There is also the issue of potential of lag with a bulging inventory. That would be something to investigate while you test the challenge.
you are on the biggest property so I don't see why you would run out of space
its good for the property values to keep rising then the bills are higher
I don't see why the fridge thing is a problem
and there should be nothing left in your inventory
Certainly would not be forced to plant or fish. Unless you are working on one of the Nature Aspirations.
Inventory per se would include everything on the lot as well.
I like to use the Aspirations as goals and things to keep my Sims busy. Maybe I am just thinking about this too hard.
Sorry to be negative. Just playing Devils Advocate and offering my opinion.
@EuphorialQueen I believe it's a valid concern. I have never experienced lag from full lot before but I usually don't play on the big lots... Would be something to find out during playtesting ^^
I have been playing the curator aspiration and I haven't had a problem with a lag. but if you do just sell the produce and what ever money you earn from it take it away with the money cheat
I for one have played on big lots before. The one time I have gotten lag was on a 50X50 lot after running Pets, Seasons, Late Night, and creating a large ranch house with a barn and everything. Otherwise, I normally don't get lag.
