Thank you very much @Cbear13! I really appreciate the help, and I really want to get this right, so I can do even more advanced things with building --- and for now, at least learn this skill.
Entry Form: QC Room challenge no: 74 Origin ID:LadyAlexiel Level: Intermediate Gallery Name: Throne & Treasures (I had no idea for a name) Gallery Link:Here Notes about entry: I wanted to make Midas throne room, also seem like his treasure room, where he kept the treasures he found before and after he get this golden touch. My room has more a Victorian feeling to it, than an ancient Greek room but, i don't think it bother too much since the requirement say to only make a golden room. I decide to pretend the portraits behind the throne are those of Midas with this wife and this son and daughter portrait. According to wikipedia, Midas had a son or a daughter in certain version of the story. The big piles of gold bars in the room are for decorating the room only and are not viewable. The activities in the room are reading, listening to music, wood crafting and playing violin. Midas haven't turn this daughter in gold yet but did by error for this pets. I raised the wall to the highest height. Images (2 - 6 images):
Throne and Treasures is a very elegantly golden throne room for the King! @LadyAlexiel Very nice golden furnishing of the room! The throne nook area looks great! The golden throne, family portraits on the throne wall, gold bullions behind the throne , golden fruit bowl and treasure chest look great! The golden ceiling lights add a special look to the room. It looks nice the way the half walls separate off the throne nook. The patterned floor rug under the throne and the rug pathway leading to throne looks very nice ! The golden statues, knight and animals look great in the room. The King will enjoy resting on the golden sofa reading a book, playing the calming violin or do some crafting on the woodwork table. The golden trophies are a nice touch on the fireplace ledge. The waiter statue looks great holding the golden teaset.
It is a very nice golden room for the King!
Thank you very much everyone for your help about seeing if objects are going into the ceiling ! I still need to practice tomorrow, and any additional tips would be appreciated !
@carolynrosser - lovely bright room. Great effect with the two carpets and King Midas in a sequin leisure suite? Priceless!!! @Josieanglin - Very pretty and dignified room. I really like the look you got with the shelf/mirror/statue - very cool! @okester - I didn't even think to put the scales in the room! Awesome. Great room and the tiles work really well with it - very Mediterranean! @xraygrl2004 - very pretty room. That wall sconce as a planter is really awesome! @ladyalexiel - Gorgeous regal room! Love what you did with the fencing!
Is it possible for me to enter a challenge even though my computer won’t post to the gallery? I’ve never entered a challenge before. I could really use some help. TIA!
Hello @HomeMama It is great that you are planning to enter this challenge ! I have posted on the other thread to you. When Cbear13 comes onto the forums she will answer your question.
Hi @HomeMama as I judge all the entries in game I do need them uploaded to the gallery so I can download them. You can however enter unofficially which means it wont be judged but you can show off your build with pictures
@coolsim9999999 Im pretty surewith the ts3 camera I just hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse downwards I will check later when Im in game
Also:
Hi @Cbear13 --- I forgot to mention that I used "tall" walls for my laundry room. Could that be the problem? I just placed the room from my library, and it placed with medium walls. I had to manually change it to tall walls. With tall walls, I didn't see anything sticking through the ceiling, but with medium walls, I saw quite a few things sticking through the ceiling in play mode. I used short walls on my Valentine's
Day restaurant.
I'm not sure if I should mention wall height on future entry forms. I'm still trying to figure out the "ceiling trick."
@coolsim9999999 no thats not the issue the items are definitely sticking into the ceiling if you follow tge instructions to look up at the ceiling while in sim play mode you can see and check if things are placed to high in the walls.
The reason I critique this is when playing sims the ceiling does become visible depending on your camera angle and as we are about quality and things being realistic we do check for it.
I would experiment with the camera in play mode to learn more about it. You dont need to hit tab just need to angle your camera to look up, you may need to zoom in and out to so your looking from a sims point of view.
No need to mention wall height I check everyones wall height from gallery and from pics before I place the rooms
Thank you very much @Cbear13 ! It's late here now, so, I'll try again tomorrow! Thanks for you elaborating on how to do it ! I really appreciate it ! I really want to be able to get this right ! King Midas is happy with his room that I made him, but he wants to make sure that nothing is going right into his ceiling ...lol!
@coolsim9999999 I have to make a correction to the directions I said to get camera to move to look up
I hold down the middle mouse button on my mouse and then move the mouse downwards (I think I said I hold the left button down before) thats with TS3 camera controls. Also zoom in so that you are in the room your trying to check
@chips46 it is sticking in but I'm ok with joining some objects creatively to create something new as long as done as carefully and cleanly as you can get without it looking messy. Things like this I would suggest adding a note on entry form that was done to create something new or explain what you intention was
All that Glitters is Gold is a very nice golden themed room! @coolsim9999999 The golden furnishings look so very nice! The golden throne area is very nice with the different sized knights standing gusrd on either sides, and the various sizes suns look great on the wall! The King will enjoy having a drink from the golden globe bar and listening to music from the golden gramophone . The golden vases of gold flowers are very pretty in the room. The crown picture is a great touch on the wall ! The gold patterned flooring and golden tiling in the entrance area looks great! He will enjoy playing the grand piano in his room. The gold bullions on the levels look great! He will enjoy sitting resting on the golden armchair eating and drinking food and drinks from the buffet table and the fountain. The golden trophies look great on the wall shelving and the golden birds are a nice touch. His gold cat looks great in the room!
It is a very nice living room for King Midas!
