Installing Sims on SD card.

This might sound strange, I have heard of people doing it and was wondering how to approach it. How would I go about installing Sims on a SD card (obviously a large capacity SD card)??

Thanks :)

Why on earth would you do that?
    Forgeddit.
    It's slow.

Grab some biggish USB 3.0 stick and install on it if you need that, 32Gb ones are dirt cheap nowadays.

Which would you recommend? SD or flashdrive?

    Flash drive.

    Thanks :)

So when doing this, what happens to the Sims 4 files that are on the Documents folder? Are they the files moved or is the files on the program files moved?

Program files will be installed on the flash drive.

Why didn't you just buy an SSD?

SSDs are very expensive... Even the external ones are.

I doubt the game will run properly if installed on a flash drive.

You can use SD and micro ssd for gameboy but I would not put a pc game on a flash drive or any other outside hard drive its not advised and the game will probably not run well.

    It will run.

    Problems will occur if:
    - you run Origin BEFORE the external drive is plugged in
    - the external drive receives a letter that is not the same one as set in Origin's location of the game

Sims 4 is not developed to be used as a portable software.
And when software isn't portable, the solution is a portable machine - laptop.

No I was just saying that gameboy uses micro ssd and sd but I would not put a computer PC game on a portable or external. The sims is too strong of a game to put on an external and would not advise it.

I was responding to op putting this game on an SD and my point was gameboy uses sd and no gameboy is not strong enough to play a game like the sims

Hi, how does your game function on the USB drive? And do you think the case will be the same for the Sims 3?

No. These games can not run on an external hard drive or usb. You would have a lot of problems if the game will run at all

Installing sims on a USB or flash drive is really a joke, you can point the documents folder to a USB or flash drive and will run fine except a little slower, but that is a user environment preference and would want document folder for all installed games.
