I'm a long time Sims player (since Bob met Betty) but have only started sharing my builds in this iteration [TS4]. I'm not great at landscaping or interestingly shaped exteriors, so tend to spend most of the time making rooms, rather than entire lots. My builds are usually themed in some way... I don't really do generic. I hope you enjoy my creations.

*My creations contain no custom content, unless otherwise stated.*

    Crypt Clothing Co.

An alternative clothing shop set in a mausoleum and surrounding graveyard. Plenty of creeping ivy and some decorative graves for decoration, as well as a couple of skellies standing guard. Grey stone with dark pllars, and a shady candle-lit interior. This would be a perfect business for any gothic, ghost, zombie or vampire sim.

Crypt Clothing Co. looks great! :) It is great that you based the store around it being a mausoleum and surrounding graveyard! The two skeletons guarding the front door entrance to the store look great! It looks great how you have placed the planter boxes on the wall to reflect ivy! The outdoors grave tombs with the statues on them look great in the theme of the build! Very nice furnishing of the build to suit the theme! The black clothing on the mannequins looks nice. The skeletons inside the build give great looks in the store! The standing candles add to the look and feel of the store. It looks nice how you have placed the clothes shelf on the wall and the folded clothes on the counter. The skulls look great in the bathroom on the sink counter !
It is a very nice themed clothing store! :)

Something a little more year round, and for the whole family next... This is kind of upmarket too.

    Songbird Country Club

After being annoyed that I couldn't get to the golf course in Newcrest, I did the next best thing and built a country club... I mean, someone has to rake the sand traps, right?

I just noticed there is some exterior trim missing from one of the terrace towers. Just eyedropper it and it'll be fine.

Edit: Nevermind. Fixed, replacing link now.

Songbird Country Club is a very nice place for sims to enjoy visiting! :) The exterior design and layout of the building is very grand! The towers look very nice! It is nice that you have named the venue after the birds on the front exterior of the venue. Very nice stone texture of the exterior and it looks nice how you have placed the windows in the build. The plants in the corner nooks on the front porch and the top hat sculptures either sides of the front door are nice for sims to see when coming to enter the club. It looks nice how you have double steps leading on to the front porch. Very nice back area of the build! The pond area is very nice! Sims will enjoy fishing there. The flowers and plants there look very nice! Nice art nook area for sims to enjoy painting on the easel in the sunshine. Child sims will have fun playing on the monkey bars. Sims will enjoy relaxing in the hot tubs there. It looks nice how you have used the hedging to separate off the hot tubs area. Very nice firepit area for sims to enjoy sitting around the fire toasting food, chatting and keeping warm. Very nice layout and furnishing of the interior of the venue! Very nice bar area! Sims will enjoy sitting on the armchairs and sofas there or on the stools having a drink from the bar, whilst listening and watching sims performing on the stage. The musical and comedy stage area is very nice! The flowers look pretty on the coffee tables. The inside pool room is very nice! The black and white patterned flooring and the placement of the curtains in the room looks very nice! The sculpture looks great on the island in the pool! The chess pieces look nice on the sides of the pool. It is great that you have a bar counter area for sims to enjoy sitting on the stools or relaxing poolside on the loungers, having a drink. The games and library room is very nice! Sims will have fun playing chess and card games on the tables there. Nice sitting corner nooks for sims to enjoy resting and reading a book from the bookcase. It is nice that kids can enjoy coming to the venue too, and have fun playing with the toys from the toy box or do artwork on the art tables. The rooftop terrace garden and dining area looks so very pretty! It is very nice outdoors area for sims to enjoy cooking food in the cupcake machine and then eating it with a nice cup of tea at the umbrella covered table! The floral setting is very nice! It looks very nice how you have set up the area!
The venue is very nice! All the areas, both inside and outdoors are very nice! :)

    Moated Castle Starter

    38acaf300b.png

Ever wanted to live in a castle right from the start? Now you can. This lot a little overbudget for a single sim, but a family of 4 gets $26,000 to start off with and they end up with a small amount of change (on a $1,500 15x20 lot). I tried to stick to a Medieval sort of theme except where cost was prohibitive (style of beds) or impractical (appliances).

Moated Castle Starter is a very nice medieval build home! :) The castle themed design and the texture of the exterior looks very nice! The moat looks very nice around the edges of the home! The plants look nice either sides of the front entrance. It looks great how you have used the terrain paint to create a winding pathway to the front door. Sims will enjoy growing and harvesting plants in the front garden. The swans sculpture is a nice touch in the front area of the home. Very nice furnishing of the interior to suit the theme of the home! The wall texture looks great! The outdoor retreat sink suits the build in the kitchen. It looks nice how you have placed a bottle, teapot and bowl on the dining table and produce on the kitchen counter. Very nice lounge and play area! The log themed seats sitting alcove looks very nice! It is nice that you have used the firepit there for sims to keep warm, and the candles is a great form of lighting. Sims will enjoy sitting there having a read whilst kids have fun playing with toys from the toy box. The green dragon looks cute there! The type of bath tub and toilet suit well the home type. It looks nice how you have angled the master bed into the corner of the room and have placed the candles in the corner nook behind the bedhead. The green pattern of the beds in the home looks nice with the wall textures.
It is a very nice castle themed starter :)

Now that we have lockable doors, I present...

    Cypress Crescent Condos

    bfb7b377ac.png

Are you a single Sim who wants to socialise and make friends? Are you a busy working couple who want to travel the minimum distance to party in your spare time? Are you a sprightly elder who wants to get out of the family home and forced baby-sitting for your grandkids? Then Cypress Crescent Condos could be the home for you!

Brightly decorated (well most of them) apartments with a shared outdoors area for socialising.

Built with social (maybe) sims and parties in mind... There are 6 units in this complex, with 3 rooms (or more) each. That's a lot of pics, so here's a slideshow.

    A few notes about playtesting:
    • Fridges all share a visible inventory, but if it's not in your fridge, you can't access it. Drag and drop is your friend.
    • Bookshelves, similar to fridges, not quite sure. Drag books to world to read them.
    • Sometimes Sims go around the outside to access the patio... because they are weird.
    • The "invite in" option seems to have disappeared so you may need to unlock door for guests.

Cypress Crescent Condos is very nice! :) It is great that you have been able to now use lockable doors in the build. The background details that you have written for the build are great! The exterior design of the build is very nice! The red colour of the exterior looks nice. It looks very nice the types of and how you have placed the windows in the build! The lights look very nice how you have placed them on the exterior of the windows! The hedging looks nice how you have placed in on the exterior edges.
Your slide show is so very great! I enjoyed watching it! You have produced it so well! It looks very nice how each unit has a different name, different colour scheme and it was great reading what type of person each unit would suit. The furnishing of each of the units reflected the title that you gave to the units and who wrote that it would be ideal for. It is nice that there is a communal outdoors living patio too, for sims to enjoy cooking meals on the BBQ and dining together at the table. Sims will enjoy sitting on the stools at the bar, having a drink and a chat together. It is great that you have a hot tub there for sims to enjoy relaxing in. They will enjoy swimming in the pool. The pool gnome looks cute there! Each of the units have been furnished to suit the type of people well! The units look very nice! It is great that you have a basement photo studio for one of the units.
The design of the build is very great! :)

    Thanks @rosemow :)

All the sims in the complex would get to know each other (even the loner sim, eventually) and be able to use each others' skill/hobby items. The painter and photographer would help personalise everyone's homes with portraits and landscapes. The chef and mixologist could make tasty food and drink that everyone can enjoy. The active sim could tutor people in fitness and let them use the gym, and the gamer/geek could let them use the hologaming item. The musician and comedian could keep the complex entertained and perform at parties.

I thought that the player could make a bunch of sims needed for parties, move them in and get their skills up (either one household at a time, or simultaneously). Then they could call on them when they throw a shindig in another household. The levelled up sims could then be evicted and a new bunch moved in, or they could expand the condos up/down and make the communal area family friendly as they age and have kids. :p

Or they could go the daytime drama route and have A, sleeping with B, who's dating, C who hates A... Etc. Some good story potential there. :p

Need a vacation somewhere in the country? Or just want to live in a cottage year round? How about here....?

    Mini Devon Cottage

    4210863edd.png

This cottage houses 3 Sims (double and single bedroom) and is just within the starting budget for a 3-Sim household if placed on a lot costing $1500. I tried to make it look like the cute cottages of my county. I grew up in Devon, but not in a lovely little cottage like this, unfortunately. My house was more like the rowhouses I made.

And I used a halfwall to make this nifty under-stairs loo.

Mini Devon Cottage is a very pretty home! :) The exterior of it is so homely and nice! The curved roof and the stone texture of the chimney and part of the exterior looks very nice! Very nice roof covered front porchway! The flowers at the front of the home look very pretty! Very nice layout and furnishing of the interior of the home! The stone texture of the interior walls looks nice. The corner of clothes shelves and the shoes racks in the bedroom look nice and homely. Sims will enjoy playing guitar in the single bedroom. Sims will have nice views of the outdoors through their bedroom windows. The corner of windows looks great in the single bedroom. Very nice outdoors patio for sims to enjoy dining outdoors in the air. They will enjoy growing and harvesting plants there. It looks great how you have created a toilet space under the stairs using the half wall! The candles look pretty on the wall ledge.
The home is very nice! :)

Want to add a mall to your Sim town, but don't want to waste one of the large lots to do so? How about one that fits on a 20 x 15 lot? One with 6 shops, bakery, cinema, parking, bathrooms and even a janitor's closet? Not possible, you say?

Well... This one has a footprint of only 100 tiles.

Now that is one compact mall! The idea is cool and it looks really neat. I love the variety in the stores and how much detail you packed in them. My favorite is the space gift shop
  • rosemowrosemow Posts: 163,479 Member
Your Micro Mini Mall is very nice! :) It is very detailed build in a small lot! There are many shops and facilities in the build! The exterior design of the build, and the layout of the build with the different shops, theatre and cafe looks very great! The mounted fish and aquarium area looks great! Very nice cinema area! Sims will enjoy sitting resting on the seats there watching TV. The mannequins look very nice under the wedding arch in the wedding store. The toy store looks colourfully nice! It looks nice how you have placed child mannequins on display in the toy and kids shop window. The space themed pictures look great with the black tiling walls in the shop where they are! The colours of the crystals in another of the stores looks very nice! The open air dining area of the bakery and food court is very nice! Sims will enjoy buying items from the glass display case and eating them at the tables, enjoying the outdoors views.
The furnishing of all the stores is very nice! :)
