My first World-Belladonna Cove Sims 3 Style-Open to everyone pg.2 «12...Next Go

So I've played around in CAW here and there but never got so far as to finishing a world due to issues and what not but I have a friend who's helped me out alot lately and I wanted to do something for her to show my thanks so I decided to CAW, nothing too ambitious just a small world re-make of her fave Sims 2 neighborhood...well I have it as I want and am ready to export because I can't edit in-game from CAW I plan to export it, build on the lots than give her the save file but here's the problem I can't export it...it comes up Export failed so I looked it up and read I had to clean out cache files so I did and it's still not working, I also read about taking out mods as I do have a couple to help the game run better which I moved out still getting the message...so any help would be appreciated as this is the first world I've completed and it be a shame to not be able to gift it to my friend as well as release it.


Edit: oh I managed to get it to export...but when I loaded it in-game I got I pop saying there was a serious error and to re-start the game...

First thing to look at is did you give the world a name, a description and a thumbnail pic? you can find all of this by right clicking the very first line (usually the world name . world) in the world layers window


then selecting add/edit description. You need to give the world a name, add a brief description and select a thumbnail picture for the world. you will not be able to export a world without this information filled out, your thumbnail can only by 256x256 pixels. once that is done save the world, close then try to export.

@flstrider: I did do all that but I did do it after saving the world a few times as I worked on it...should I try re-naming it and giving it a new description and pic?

@cmbaker16 as long as it is there and saved it should be fine, since there are no lots in the world I guess it is safe to say there is no store items or other CC so that will not be the issue. Do this next, uninstall it from the game, and then delete it from the downloads folder/export folder. go into CAW make sure all of those items are filled out, then go into view, click on rebuild routing data, wait a few moments then save the world. close the world then go to the select world to export and try to again export the world. see what happens

Hi

It's usually the DCCache and DCBackup folders (store/CC stuff) in your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 folders..

Move those two folder to your desktop, open up CAW and export your world (without opening your world), close CAW.

Go to your desktop and move those two folders back. You can paste them back and choose to Move and Replace options.
The game will have made new folders- you want your installed stuff back so.

That's the way it usually goes for when it doesn't want to export.... Good luck!

Serious error... Hm... I'd love to check that out if you would share the CAW files or the world you exported. I've had it happen a few times when I messed with the world files in S3pe and did it wrong. I learn things the hard way. XD

*View is at the top left on the Tool bar. Near File and Help.

Hey Rf I did not see a thumbnail pic when I opened it up and no information there...... other than that I had no trouble exporting

Hi, Rider - Thumbnails don't transfer since they're saved on the users computer.

No problem exporting it. Do you have the world that gave you the error message?

dang that's right... ok time for either more coffee... or get to bed....rofl!!! I had no problems installing or opening it in game

@Rflong7: That was the world and all it's original files...

but good news I moved out the DCCache and DCBackup like @Rflong7 said and I got the world to export and load so it's now loading in-game for me

So since I got my exporting issue solved I started building and thought I share some pictures...first I like to say I am creating Belladonna Cove from the Sims 2 Apartment Life and I'm enjoying it so far certain lots like the grocery stores and clothing stores I've decided not to build other than the grocery store rabbit hole which there's only one everything else though it's an exact re-creation/or as close to the lots from S2 to S3. Also, I chose to make the Apartments as LN apartments as I prefer them to the Uni apartments. Oh, and the Sims in the world will not be re-creations of the sims from Belladonna cove as me or my friend has never played them. It's mostly filled with sims and families I created at one point or another.

@JennaDaCapo: for this I didn't limit myself so I own every EP/SP except diesel, movie , and KPST as for store content I couldn't really tell you. Once it's ready the world itself will be empty unless you get the save file I give with it which will include all the builds.
