I have a question. When do I use the young again potion? When they are still YA? When they are about to turn elder? Please help. Thanks. I've never used one before.

I say use just before Adult birthday. That will keep your Sim as a Young Adult. For me I like it that way. That way I can continue to play my skilled Sim as a YA later.
Added: Exception: You may buy an item to mark the day you use a Youth Potion. This is an unpredictable date so is an exception to the purchasing restrictions.
Alright, I survived the first week this time! It required a lot of sleeping on couches.
Veronica eventually threw herself upon the mercy of the Pancakes and crashed there for two nights or so. My rule when mooching off Sims is to always cook party sizes of meals, so that they get paid back somehow.
I decided to make things harder for Veronica - because she's a collector, I felt that she wouldn't want to let go of her collectibles, so I only sell duplicates. Breeding expensive frogs helped quite a bit, but I didn't end up with nearly as much money at the end of the week than my first try. She did get a nice garden going, which helped with money and food - though I think it's a bit too unruly, so I will probably get rid of half of the plants at the end of week two.
Before buying/renovating (I assumed planting directly into the ground was allowed)
After renovations. I'm using paintings to keep track of my weeks - you can see the nice little dinosaur hanging out outside the bathroom.
It's really challenging to only be able to buy items once a week. Keeping Veronica's needs up was tough. Satisfaction points were easy though, with the collector aspiration set. I wasn't sure if the youth potions counted as buyables, but I went ahead and just put all of my points into Potions of Youth on buying day.
What are the rules regarding other potions/rewards? Can we buy them if we feel we have enough points, or are we restricted to Potions of Youth?
@Jenatru - Congrats on surviving the first week! That's the toughest. My first try ended up killing my Sim on Friday of Ultimate Embarrassment. I think I did better my first week too but I'll never know.
Just finished my second week! And she did not do well at all. I think. I did get her a job in the writing career though. She was promoted on her second day to Blogger.
@jenatru Welcome
The buy restrictions are for Build/Buy mode only. Aspiration Points are free game and can be used anytime.
Exception : (Build/Buy) You may buy an item to mark the day you use a Youth Potion. This is an unpredictable date so is an exception to the purchasing restrictions.
You can also go into Build/Buy to rearrange ... but not buy ... items on your lot.
Yes you can plant directly on the ground.

I'm having a problem now with my game freezing when she sleeps on super high speed - not sure if just on her lot or not. Other saves aren't having this problem, just this game. It's just the weirdest thing.

Hi jenatru Welcome to the challenge! I haven't had that problem yet and I am playing mostly on the highest speed most of the time. Good luck!
I've been refraining from entering the build/buy mode all together. But now that I know I can go in to rearrange things I am so definitely going to move that trashcan. lol Thanks.
Now that Sheeza got a word processor (computer) from her job promotion, I've been working on having her write books when she's not working with a little collecting of rocks/frogs along the way. We'll see how that goes at the end of the week.
I tried to give this a go last night, but my computer overheated after the first week and I'm bad about saving.
Going to go try again...
@jenatru Oh dear ... my challenge blew up your computer?
Glad you did not give up altogether. I noticed your pictures (photobucket) are not showing. Maybe you moved them?
Net worth for week 3 is not as good as I wanted it to be either. I'm tempted to have her quit her writing career. Have not made up my mind yet.
Congrats on your progress
I use the jobs for the perks. Like a free computer for writers or free counters for culinary etc. I can use or sell them for extra Simoleons.
That is a very smart idea. I did get a word processor when she was promoted to Blogger and a nice painting when she was promoted again (which I sold). Thanks for the congrats. I'm having way too much fun with this.
