So I saw the 1st expansion pack for the Sims 4 and I super excited about it. The business pack was one of my top 6 most wanted pack; however, I notice one thing missing in the trailer. There was no teacher career. I'm assuming it will be introduced, in another expansion pack that is school related. So I decided to post some ideas about it and hopefully the gurus will read this and take some of my ideas. (Please mind my poor writing).
Also check out @Penelope idea: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/901424/witches-school-with-magic#latest
The expansion pack should include school buildings with no *rabbitholes* and sim players should be able to customize the buildings.

*Daycare/pre-school building* (If they give us toddlers back) -This would be pretty similar with the babysitting gig in Sims 3. The care providers should basically have the same tasks the Sims parents had. There should be a choice to set the hours of when the daycare/preschool opens and closes.
*Elementary school/middle school (Add Preteens)*
-Sim players should be able offered extracurricular activities for the children age group. Examples include, ballet, scouting, fishing, and gardening club).
-In order for the school to function, Sim players MUST have all of the following items. 1 or up to 3 reading/science/math room/Simsocial/geography studies rooms (social studies, lol) room, an office (for principal and teachers), a gym, a library, restrooms, lunch and a playground. Sim players will also be offered to include an art room, a music room(*piano and guitar added*) and a drama theater arts room, but the school must do well. If they do well, the city will award large amounts grant simoleans to the school. Alternatively, they can get donations from other sims, if they complete tasks for them (donation value varies based on task and time).
- Sim children will have be given an accomplishment folder tab. If they receive straight As or Bs, sim children will be rewarded. Rewards come in a basket (similar to the Sims 3 University green complementary basket). It should have books and art supplies or music instruments and costumes. Additionally, they get candy, an "I made the honor roll shirt", a "My sim child made the honor roll" (for Sim parents of course), and a certificate they can put on their wall of fame. On top of that they will receive an invite to a pizza party (at the school gym) for only the A and B honor roll students, or just for the A honor roll.
Sim child interactions -Food fights, tag, hopscotch, ask teacher for help, give help to other sim classmates, dodge ball, basketball, paint, draw, act, play instrument, listen to teacher, etc.

-Teacher's pet-Goody two shoes (level 1)-Yes a' ma'm (level 2)-Guru's golden apple Give teacher apple or apple pie, erase classroom boards, remind teacher of homework (beware, this increases sim's vulnerability of being bullied), maintain Bs or higher in all classes, help other sim students on their work. Reward: Strong work-ethic (level 3) (exclusive: this means that tasks will be easier for sim and this ability/trait will continue up to their adulthood), be the library reading mascot (level 1) (if anyone remembers the Clifford mascot during the book fair, you know what I mean) and receive homework passes (level 2).
-Class clown-Buffoon (level 1)-Jester (level 2)-Funny man/woman (level 3) Make jokes in class and to students ( funny jokes can boost your school performance. Bad jokes can lower your school performance), dance or make funny faces when the teacher isn't looking, knock and dash (knock on a classroom door and hide), place whoopee cushion on teacher's seat or throw a paper airplane at teacher (beware, don't do this to many times at once, or the teacher will be able to know it was your sim child), attempt a homework pass or extra time on project (sweet talk/act goodie good, make up fake sob story, give fake sick note) Rewards: (level 3) gain 10% popularity points (the only way to gain P.P. and will follow sim up to high school), (level 2) a punny book (If you have ever played the Last of Us, you know what I mean. It's exclusive only and Sim players will be able to actually read it, just like the tutorials, but it must be unlocked first), (level 1) receive a joker hat.
*High school* Once a Sim player's child has graduated from elementary/middle school, they move onto high school and everything the received, transfers as well. Similar to elementary school, Sim players must have a reading/writing/math/history/geography room, science lab, a lunch room, an office, a library, restrooms, gym and lockers (working lockers, not just an object). They may also include an art room, music room(*piano, guitar, tuba, drums set, trumpet, clarinet, and flute added*), a drama theater room, a computer lab, indoor swimming pool, track, tennis court and football field. Again school must be in good performance or find donors to fund it. Just as children, teens will have an accomplishment folder tab. Example:
Clubs/sports include: school band club, yearbook committee club, craft club, swim team, ballet/dance team, football team, tennis team, tech club (build computers, robots, hand held video games (simboy),etc.), cheer team, book club (Get your hands on Larry Bottor), gardening club.
Sim teen interactions: skateboard,..mmmm, can't think of anything else.
*Sim Teens status: Sim Players will be able to be a combination of more than 1 or all*
Bully: Tough guy (level 4), Tyrant (level 5), Persecutor (level 6) - Lock sims in lockers, toilet dunk sims, stuff sim in trash can, spitball sims, fight sims, steal homework or lunch, destroy projects, occupy the restrooms without getting caught (this keeps other sim classmates out of the restrooms, except for teachers and the principal, beware), skip school and form bully gang.

Environmentalist: Greenie(level 1), Tree Activist (level 2), Green Panther( level 3) Join gardening club, plant, gain and give tips to environmentalist sims recycle and empty trash from school, etc.
*High School Events* (The principal, teachers and sim teens boosting their valedictorian status may manage events. They can set the date and time and if successful, they will receive simoleons to fund the school.) I kept this part as simplistic, yet fun as possible. If you've played the game Avatar High, you'll see some similarities.
Link to AVATAR HIGH game: http://www.hackedarcadegames.com/game/853/Avatar-High.html
*Big Exam* (Principle exclusive) Every sim student will take an exam. The exam is for reading, writing, science, math and history. If the event is a success (If most students pass), the school can win $500 simoleons.
*Big Game* (Gym teacher exclusive) Sim players will be able to choose the type of sport that will be held for the big game event. If the game is a success (if most students attend), the school will win $500 simoleons.
*Art show* (Art teacher and club officer exclusive only) Sim players will be able to hold an art show, where artsy type teen sims will be able to display their artwork. Winners may win simoleons and free art supplies. Sims may also set a price for their artwork, if they want to sell it.
*Music concert* (Music teacher and music club officer exclusive only) Sim players will be able allow their best student musicians to play the school's concert. Sim students can invite friends and family.
*Science Fair* Sim players will be able to admit their sim students to compete in the science fair. They will given choices on what their projects can be on (build robot, newton's cradle, etc.) Sim students can win money if they win science equipment and some simoleons.
*Fundraiser* (Valedictorian level 1 only) To help fund for the school's extracurricular classes and activities, Sim players can make their sim students do a fundraiser and collect simoleons from sim citizens. They may set a due date as well. Fundraiser items include: baked goods:(cupcakes, cookies, pies and frozen pizzas)
*Spirit day* (Valedictorian level 2 only) Similar to real-life, Sim players will be able to chose what day they want to hold spirit day for their sims. Choices offer: Theme day dress up as, food:(hotdog, pizza, burger, cupcake), animal:(cat, dog, t-rex,bear), space:(alien, spaceship captain, space-bot); Mitch-match day:(dress in different colors and patterns); Represent-sports day: (sims wear a sports team jersey or sports-related outfit). The school's band may also perform during spirit day.
*Dance/Prom* (Valedictorian level 3, but in the last 30 days before aging up to young adult) Sim players with sim teens in the 3rd valedictorian track may manage and participate in a party for the seniors, but they must be in their last 30 days before aging up)
Sim players will be able to hold a dance at the school. They will be offered different theme choices (spooky: halloween costumes, masquerade: New Orleans-esqe, sock hop: 1950s, formal). If the even is a success, the school can win $500 simoleons.
*Graduation* For each student graduate, the school is given $500 See below University for more details
*Sim Principal job description and interactions*: -Collect donations from sim citizens to fund for school by doing tasks for them. -Set whether school should have uniforms or non-uniforms -Set and manage school events -Set price for school admission (if a private school) -Buy an art room, music room, drama theater room, computer lab, indoor swimming pool, track, tennis court and football field. -Upgrade school lunch -Make disciplinary decisions for sim students and teachers -Hire/Fire teachers
*Sims Teacher Job description*: -Set lessons and schedule for class (ex. Art teacher-assign everyone to create a sculpture or English teacher-assign everyone to read and write a report on "The Mice of Sims") -Assign projects (presentation boards, group project, etc.) -Offer online tutoring (They can earn more money on the side) -Help/tutor student with homework -Make disciplinary decisions for sim students -Set field trip (Just like Sims 3, but you can actually go inside buildings aka Get To Work EP) -Collect homework and projects
*Types of Teacher* -Cool Beans Teacher This teacher knows what’s cool—clothing, music, pop culture references, all of it. They love to tell interesting stories about their experiences, but never tells to much information about themselves. They play the coolest music during class period and are always looking the sharpest, when it comes to fashion. They often incorporate games and engaging activities into their lesson plans. *Advantage*: Students admires the teacher and are more engaging in classwork. *Disadvantage*: If too lenient, students can take advantage of teacher.
-Austere Teacher This is the type of teacher often gets tough on their students. They always insists on adhering to the deadlines. Such a teacher dislikes any mistakes or carelessness on the part of the students, and can make the students feel embarrassed and ashamed of their mistakes. They are like a disciplinarian, always keeping students on their toes. *Advantage*: Students have more self-discipline. *Disadvantage*: This can lower students self-esteem and confidence, which can hurt their school performance.
-The Over-Achiever This teacher is always encouraging their class to be the first and the best at everything: first in fundraising, first to the lunchroom, first in reading goals, first in parent participation, and first to complete classroom projects, and the best in all subjects. *Advantage*: Students have more self-esteem and are more confident in their work. *Disadvantage*: Students can feel too overwhelmed, as they constantly compete with other classes.
*Rewards for all teachers*: Receive "Thank you" notes from students and parents, win the "best teacher of the year" award and win some simoleons, receive fruit baskets, and a golden apple.
Each educational room will have either npc teachers or the principle can hire sims. Another option, Sim players will be able take the teaching career path, starting from daycare/preschool up to high school. It will branch off to being able to chose to teach at a University or become a principal at a high school or elementary school. If Sim players take the University path, they can work their way up to owing the University.
*University/college*: (should be better than the Sims 3)
University/college may not be added to the pack, since it needs it's own world, but it would be nice to have the sims graduate and go off to college right after.
At the last 30 days, before a sim teen becomes a young adult, Sim players will need to make sure their sim's academic performance level is good, so they can get into the University/college of their choice. Sim players will be able to offer their sims scholarships by having them apply. For example, scholarships will include:
-Creative Arts Scholarship: sim will need a B or higher in art and writing. They must also create a piece of artwork and write an essay about their artistic expression. It must be submitted to the teacher.>$3,000 simoleons
-The Mad Scientist Scholarship: For sims academically doing well in science, they can apply to this scholarship. They must also write an essay report on the invention and submit it to the teacher.> $7,000 simoleons
-The Ultimate Athlete Scholarship: For sims participating in sports and attaining decent athletic abilities, this scholarship is just for them. They must have an excellent grade in gym, have done at least 3 sports in high school, and be at a level 3 in each of them. >$5,000 simoleons
-The Bill Fence (Like Bill Gates, ha ha, no? Ok I'll leave) Versatile Scholarship Foundation: For sims academically doing well in science/math/history/reading/writing class, they may apply to this scholarship. They must write an essay about themselves and future endeavors. They must be in one club and sport, and in track 3 of the valedictorian status. >$10,000 simoleons
Once the sim has applied, they will receive a letter in the mail once they become young adults.
*NOTE* that essays/reports are similar to the homework and the "write a novel" action from the Sims 3. Sims will be assigned a topic from the teacher or if writing for a scholarship, they may chose a pre-existing topic, related to the scholarship. The duration time will be the same as writing a novel. So What Do You Think? Should I add anything else?
**EDIT Add-on: Teacher Interactions Take roll call Sim Players will be given a clipboard, and will be able to check in boxes of who is present in their classroom. They may have a student send it to the office or they may send it themselves.
Teachers ay teach more than 1 subject, for instances they may teach in the science/reading/writing/math/history/geography room, teach music and coach swimming.
Teachers schedule conferences with parents and vice versa
Teachers can break up fights Teachers can console students or give encouragements Teachers can give high fives
Teachers can give pop quizzes, tests, and exams
One of you guys asked if the class work would be interactive, so I brainstormed for a while on how to make this classwork interactive, so you won't get too bored.
For Elementary:
Mathwork Place fraction blocks together
Count with abacus (add/sub multi/division) Practice balancing weights
Learn to read time by playing with a clock Count money by using a toy cash register
Science work Place periodic table blocks in order
Identify planets in the solar system through a picture book Create rock crystal candy Put magnets together successfully
Reading/Writing work Practice cursive writing on the board Put a sentence together
Practice with vocabulary flash cards Read a book
History/Geography work Identify sim leaders through pictures
Create a sim flag Put the sim diamond together
For High School:
Mathwork Accurately measure 5 items in the classroom, using a ruler Put numbers in order (-5, 1.5, 2, 9) Put a puzzle block together
Practice multiplication and division using sticks.
Science work Make green goo/slime Perform a surgical simulation (Hasbro Operation) Identify types of rocks through a microscope Put Newton's cradle together
History/Geography Put sim globe together Read about historical sims Make a mini model of the Egyptian Pyramids with clay

I play with aging off, if I want my sims to grow older I'll use a birthday cake. I think Prom should just be an event, Teenagers on Student Council would put together allowing players to decide when prom is, instead of waiting for the last "30 days before aging up"

Also, the teachers salary should be affected daily by how well their students do because it is an active job, and active job pay varies by how well you do each task
*Seriously why can't they cook*? Why can't they do much when it comes to skills, athletics, charisma and what's the deal with only having ONE personality trait? (*superpurple1 said: Yeah EA, haven't you guys seen Chopped Junior/Kid edition?*)
> @lejoninna >omg an *open daycare* would be really cool. we could go there with our T-Words while rest of family is working/school and they could make friend and learn stuff. that prolly wont happen tho so now im sad
> @stilljustme2 said: > How about adding home schooling/study at home options? My Sim child (oddly enough, the alien kid) has had to stay home from school twice because he was sick - an option to study at home so you don't lose school performance would be nice. Also bring back the "Do Homework With.." interaction, so Sims can do homework together (especially if you bring home friends or invite friends over after school). Doing homework with other Sims (whether friends or siblings) should improve Social and Fun needs. Also add the Help with Homework interaction for teens with younger Sims; my teen brother helped me with homework quite a bit, since both our parents worked so weren't necessarily home when I was studying.
> @LazerRay3 >Another college themed expansion pack is most likely going to happen, but this extends it across an entire family for school related things.
I also have some ideas for Geek related items since I happen to be a geek myself and did some of these while in college and knew others who did them.
Trading Card Game 1 to 2 people Starter Deck, Booster Packs, Deck Packs, Collection Album, Collection Case (all portable) Organize Deck (solo action), Duel (two people and table needed), Trade (two people needed) Child through Young Adult
Pen and Paper Game (D&D being a well known one) Group Activity Rule Books and Polyhedral Dice (single item, portable) Make Characters/Plan Campaign (solo action), Play or Run Campaign (group action), (requires table for both) Teen through Adult
Miniatures Game 1 to 2 people Model Shelf, Storage Case (case is portable) Assemble/Paint Models (solo), Battle (two people), (table needed for both) Teen through Adult
Handheld Game System (portable) Single person, possible group action if two or more sims have the item Use anywhere Child through Young Adult?
These may not directly help school performance, but they will help sims relax after working hard and possibly build up skills while having fun. (I just don't know what skills are in Sims 4 to assign them to items here)
@Matty said, I love this, and with the lockers I think there should be classrooms that are farther away from each other.
This is really well though out! Although, are you going for an active schools kind of deal? Though it's a nice idea, I'm not sure it'd be too much fun to watch kids sit in class all day. But who knows? Maybe it would be the greatest thing ever.
I would like it to be active. Maybe the Gurus can make the lessons interactive, so the sim children and teens have can actually do something. I'll come up with something and add it.
*Dance/Prom* (Valedictorian level 3, but in the last 30 days before aging up to young adult)

I think this is a very good idea but would you have to do this every school day? Like, one day could you let the sim do their own thing in school and you control the sims at home?
I think this is a very good idea but would you have to do this every school day? Like, one day could you let the sim do their own thing in school and you control the sims at home?
It should be like how the jobs are in GTW, so you don't have to play them everyday and have it become repetitive.
I had an idea like this too, classes could be great for skill building.
I love this, and with the lockers I think there should be classrooms that are farther away from each other and you should have to limit when you go to your locker so you don't arrive late to your classes.
Also, the teachers salary should be affected daily by how well their students do because it is an active job, and active job pay varies by how well you do each task
Hmm, I don't know I have seen a lot of people including myself say that the medical career is "too realistic" and it gets quite boring real fast. I think the teaching career would be the same. But if they could make it fun , then why not.
I think this is a very good idea but would you have to do this every school day? Like, one day could you let the sim do their own thing in school and you control the sims at home?

If the kids can continue to progress (even a little bit) while you send them on their own then I think it could work -- they'd just progress faster when you go with them. Otherwise it can get to be a bit hairy trying to control a large family with several kids in school; maybe leave in the traditional "rabbit hole" school as an option for some Sim children/teens. I usually try to switch control to my Sim children when they get home from school if my scientist has finished enough of his daily tasks to end up at the top of the performance meter, but I'm not sure if I'm short-changing him in the meantime.
How about adding home schooling/study at home options? My Sim child (oddly enough, the alien kid) has had to stay home from school twice because he was sick -- an option to study at home so you don't lose school performance would be nice. *Types of Teacher*
-Cool Beans Teacher
This teacher knows what’s cool—clothing, music, pop culture references, all of it.
-Austere Teacher
This is the type of teacher often gets tough on their students.
-The Over-Achiever
This teacher is always encouraging their class to be the first and the best at everything: first in fundraising, first to the lunchroom, first in reading goals, first in parent participation, and first to complete classroom projects, and the best in all subjects.
**EDIT Add-on:
Teacher Interactions
Take roll call
Sim Players will be given a clipboard, and will be able to check in boxes of who is present in their classroom. They may have a student send it to the office or they may send it themselves.
Teachers ay teach more than 1 subject, for instances they may teach in the science/reading/writing/math/history/geography room, teach music and coach swimming.
Teachers schedule conferences with parents and vice versa
Teachers can break up fights
Teachers can console students or give encouragements
Teachers can give high fives
Teachers can give pop quizzes, tests, and exams
One of you guys asked if the class work would be interactive, so I brainstormed for a while on how to make this classwork interactive, so you won't get too bored.
For Elementary:
Mathwork
Place fraction blocks together
Count with abacus (add/sub multi/division)
Practice balancing weights
Learn to read time by playing with a clock
Count money by using a toy cash register
Science work
Place periodic table blocks in order
Identify planets in the solar system through a picture book
Create rock crystal candy
Put magnets together successfully
Reading/Writing work
Practice cursive writing on the board
Put a sentence together
Practice with vocabulary flash cards
Read a book
History/Geography work
Identify sim leaders through pictures
Create a sim flag
Put the sim diamond together
For High School:
Mathwork
Accurately measure 5 items in the classroom, using a ruler
Put numbers in order (-5, 1.5, 2, 9)
Put a puzzle block together
Practice multiplication and division using sticks.
Science work
Make green goo/slime
Perform a surgical simulation (Hasbro Operation)
Identify types of rocks through a microscope
Put Newton's cradle together
History/Geography
Put sim globe together
Read about historical sims
Make a mini model of the Egyptian Pyramids with clay
A little confused about:
*Dance/Prom* (Valedictorian level 3, but in the last 30 days before aging up to young adult)
Sim players with sim teens in the 3rd valedictorian track may manage and participate in a party for the seniors, but they must be in their last 30 days before aging up)
I play with aging off, if I want my sims to grow older I'll use a birthday cake.

(*superpurple1 said: Yeah EA, haven't you guys seen Chopped Junior/Kid edition?*)

>omg an *open daycare* would be really cool. we could go there with our T-Words while rest of family is working/school and they could make friend and learn stuff. that prolly wont happen tho so now im sad

>Another college themed expansion pack is most likely going to happen, but this extends it across an entire family for school related things.
I also have some ideas for Geek related items since I happen to be a geek myself and did some of these while in college and knew others who did them.

Assemble/Paint Models (solo), Battle (two people), (table needed for both)

Child through Young Adult?
These may not directly help school performance, but they will help sims relax after working hard and possibly build up skills while having fun. (I just don't know what skills are in Sims 4 to assign them to items here)
@Matty said, I love this, and with the lockers I think there should be classrooms that are farther away from each other.
@MadameLee said,
how about getting expelled?

It should be like how the jobs are in GTW, so you don't have to play them everyday and have it become repetitive.
I had an idea like this too, classes could be great for skill building.
Please EA
Thanks guys.
