@mojot89, congrats on the new computer! The twins look cute,e ven though they are both in need of a bath! Cute screenshots. The house looks great so far!
001 nearly complete! I just need to wait until my Heir grows up and leaves home. I'm studying the 002 requirements and have a question about marrying and moving in a "working sim." The examples given are pizza delivery, postal carrier, gardener, etc. Is this rule intended to ensure the new spouse has a paying job? or are they specifically supposed to have one of the "public benefit" jobs?

Thanks!
It's specifically a sim in a service job, which they will quit when they become part of your household. Just remember you have to marry first before moving the sim in. It just adds more of a challenge.
My heir from the 1st part was female and every service sim I encountered was female or a male that was elderly. I lucked out finally with a pizza delivery person that was YA.

Thanks, Jestina. ... the goal is going to be enough challenge just by itself. I've seen exactly one gardener and one pizza delivery person all through 001. Anyone have any tips on how/where to find more of these service-sims so I can improve my chances above "random"?

Hire them. If there isn't one the game will generate a new one. You can hire any "services" sims. I know someone who bought a massage table and married the sim that showed up to give the massage. I married a DJ in 002 once by throwing dance parties because it generates a DJ and a mixologist when you go there. I also married a mixologist now that I mention it. At least they fixed it so the pizza delivery person doesn't instantly disappear. Mail delivery usually isn't the best option because they were generated during house 001 so they're likely older. Good luck!
I finally have time to catch up with everyone here. I caught up on @illusie 's story last night and today I'm going through the thread's and catching up on everyone elses. That is in between playing the game which I haven't for a while.
@Illusie I really did enjoy reading your story and I'm looking forward to seeing how you do the next house. You are doing great and you really have made some amazing progress on this challenge. I guess this is the halfway point for you.
@mojot89 I am definitely happy to be playing again. I really missed the game. I'm catching up with your story next.
@Piazzagirl1015, thank you! Yes I passed the halfway point. I still have to write all the chapters for house 12. It will be the first house with a pet!
@Piazzagirl1015, I really liked having a dog, but I adopted the puppy at the wrong time (when the heir was a toddler). My sim had had her hands full!
Now I should write more chapters for house 12. I can't play at the moment with house 13 anyway, because they really need a house since the heir just turned into a toddler. I'm now designing their house.
Aaaagghhh! I started the Challenge during my vacation a few weeks ago. My Founder was ultra-successful in her career as a doctor, built her house (way over the modest 30k simoleons required), produced her heir, and was a good single mom. I was really looking forward to moving on to the next Challenge Chapter.
Then, that stupid, ungrateful cow died the day before her child was to become an adult. Grimmy was a total jerk-wad and refused the heir's plea. I am having a serious head-desk moment.
*sigh* Thanks for listening to my rant. I have learned one thing: You can't build the house and then work on the heir. I need to pop that little rug-rat out earlier so the Founder doesn't kick the bucket before the heir makes it to adulthood.
@RiotLily If the founder dies before the heir turns young adult you don't fail the challenge unless that is a specific rule you set up for yourself. Many of us have had our founder or heir for current house die before the next generation was able to take over. As long as your founder completed all the requirements for that house it is not a fail. It does mean that you cannot control any other sim in that house even the heir until you are ready to move onto the next house but you didn't fail at all. Congrats on finishing the first house.
Aw, poop. Now, I -am- having a head-desk moment. I interpreted the "raise an Heir to YA" to mean the parent needed to be around until rugrat made it to adulthood. I was so put-out with the Founder dying that I decided to start over -- all new Founder and everything. You can read that as: I deleted the game and its back-up. *head-desk*
Okay, shaking it off now and charging back into ... Challenge 001! Yay!!
Thanks for the help with the rules interpretation (something I apparently read too strictly). I'm much more hopeful about this next attempt.

@Piazzagirl1015 Yeah, the cowplant was the part I was most nervous about. That and catching all those fish! lol
