Hi Team,
I followed
@queueing's guide to using s3mpi and s3pe (
http://tencentsims.tumblr.com/post/94131114859/tutorial-for-mac-users-how-to-use-sims-3), and it was super helpful in teaching me how to get dashboard and CUSTARD to run in Mavericks. But I still can't get s3pe to work. Every time I click File > New, mono crashes. I tried googling the problem, and it looks like only one other person ever had this issue, and managed to solve it by using an earlier version of s3pe. I've tried s3pe releases dating back to 2012, and it still crashes every time. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it?
Thanks!

From @queueing's guide I learned that X11 isn't going to work with Mavericks; you need XQuartz. Open Terminal through XQuartz to run Mono.

However, the version of Mono linked to from that post won't work with s3pe. To find the appropriate version of Mono AND s3pe, I followed this tutorial: http://fakehousesrealawesome.tumblr.com/tagged/guide
Finally, in order to figure out how to correctly use s3mi, I used a tutorial that instructed me on using Automator, necessary to correctly capitalize all sims3packs so that s3mi will recognize them:

That last tutorial doesn't tell you where to install the Change Extension script, which isn't something I knew. It goes here:
Mac HD >/System/Library/Automator/
