What CAN be done to fix TS4?

Oh my, you know not what you ask for lol! I've been playing the Sims since the original game dropped oh so many years ago (my daughter was around 3 when it came out; she's 21 and plays the Sims herself).

What can be done to fix the Sims 4? I have a mile long list based on experiences from the history of the series, but will limit it to the top five... (the following list is in order of priority in my mind).

    1. The MOST important thing that they could possibly do in my mind is give us more control over our games. Story-builders do not want prenamed communities, or predesigned anything. Now, I completely understand that some things were not possible to give way to new concepts and ideas, but taking this away from the Sims (Sims 2 was the first time we had this ability) was a huge mistake that's driving most of us nuts. The best way to fix it, in my opinion, would be to release a "Complete control" expansion, allowing users more control over their individual games. Allow renaming of the "neighborhoods" within a game (either as a "you must set this before saving" or editable after saving; most won't care as long as the control is given back), allow place-able lot sizes (reference: The Sims 2) so we can choose the lots in the neighborhoods, and for the love of all that's Sims related, please give us a "bulldoze the entire neighborhood at once" feature... those are musts for story-builders... other things that would be nice... the ability to create new, blank "neighborhoods" (when I say that I am referring to things like "Willow Creek", not the individual districts within the neighborhood.) even if the districts within that neighborhood are templates.

    2. Fix the bugs that are in the game, XPs, and other add on packs. The "singing" bug where a Sim stops singing, but the singing audio continues is horrible. Where are your beta testers and why aren't they catching these? If you don't have any that are reliable and know the series in and out in order to recognize bugs(I despise the fact that most beta testing now is just a "I wanna see the game before everyone else" thing), my husband and I are both experienced and would be more than happy to volunteer to beta for you. (If interested, please ask for our alpha and beta testing experience). Bugs are flat out annoying while trying to create story lines.

    3. Bring back the cars and other vehicles. Most people on most of the forums I have read really miss these, especially the guys. This also makes me want to mention that a LOT of people have been asking for a "Mechanic" career. How about a career pack in general? There are tons of careers out there; some of the most mentioned, other than the Mechanic, are Education, Military, and Psychology (specifically what I have seen mentioned are therapist and paranormal specialist, which I lumped together in a psych career field for the purposes of this).

    4. Bring back the Sims 2 style University where the Sims have a period of skill building before starting their careers. Maybe if you implement the Education career at some point, one of the branches could be professor that requires a level of 10 in the skills for the chosen major to get hired?

    5. Apartments don't just exist in cities. Find a way for the users to have "apartment" lots in other neighborhoods (again, like Willow Creek) even if we have to use the existing shells on those lots.

Anyways, just my two cents on this.

Man you must be a very experienced Simmer! I totally agree with most of the stuff you've said, like apartments should be put in other neighborhoods, I loved making apartments in Sims 3 and having two of my Sims living with 6 or less more roommates in one house.

I don't if anyone has mentioned this, but I think there should be a 'find a roommate' option since they added the city. That way Sims could split rent, or rent out the extra room in their house to make it easier to save money.

Bring back open worlds. I hate all the annoying load screens, waiting to load the game is like, waiting.......wait what was i doing? oh yeah, waiting for my game to load. Please we need open worlds.

    It won´t happen.

I said some things on the feedback thread that bothered me, but one of my main ones, a Create-a-Sim overhaul, is extremely unlikely.

So for me, an easier suggestion to "fix" Sims 4 for me, is not a suggestion for the game itself. I want bigger bundles and better deals. I don't have a really focused interest, so I can't just pick the one or two I want. This means that getting into the game is a huge research project of what comes in what, and then weighing how much I really want those things. It's really more effort than I care to put into it.

A couple of bundles were apparently recently released for this game, and Sims 3 did bundles with the base game and a single expansion, but that really doesn't change it. They're super conservative bundles that still make me have to look into which ones are the best choice for me. I just want what other games do, and be able to buy something like a "Game of the Year" Edition that has most of what has come out until that point.

I'm willing to pay a higher price point, as long as I can just jump in without doing a ton of research and decision weighing first.

If open world isn't possible, maybe each neighbor hood could be open world. Like for the commercial are in most neighborhoods, you would be able to go to the gym from the library without the loading screen.

Wall grids would be nice. It would be a lot easier to place cabinets, windows, paintings, etc.

Build and Buy stuff pack. No CAS items, because we have a lot of that. We need more build and buy items. No, it shouldn't be themed.

Decorations stuff pack. Just clutter type objects.

Multiple floor stairs. Like there are 3 steps, then the stairs turn, then the rest of the stairs.

    Half wall ceilings

    Traits stuff pack

    Plants stuff pack

    More hair colors

Be able to set people as aunt, cousins, enemies, friends, So, etc. because Now this is the story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground where I spent most of my days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air

I've been having an issue with baked goods where the serving platter sticks to my sim's hand after he takes the food from the oven. I have to use the "Reset Sim" testing cheat to fix it.

Also, either fix the issue with no sims spawning on Generic lots or create an Advanced/Freestyle community lot with no checklist where NPC sims will spawn in and use the objects there. There seems to be no problem with visiting sims coming over to my sims' houses and helping themselves to the fridge and computer at their leisure or random sims that my sims don't even know popping up at the door well after the Welcome Wagon event is over, but I can't make a community lot with no checklists that NPC sims come over to as they please and help themselves to? Come on, now. You can do better than that...

I'd like to put in a few suggestions of my own.
As a simmer, I think there should be a few things added.

    1. A multiplayer section
    2. Pets
    3. Moving babies from bassinets
    4. University
    5. A supernatural expansion pack (ect.. Zombies, Witches, Fairies, werewolves, hybrids.)
    6. More wildlife
    7. Ultrasound option for pregnant sims
    8. More Traits
    9. More Aspirations
    10. More and Bigger worlds
    11. Bigger plots
    12. Cars

A bit more detail for A Multiplayer Section: I think it would be cool if they did this. Where you and your friends could come together as one, and build a town of your own from scratch, and not use the gallery. Adding online servers so you and your friends could talk to each other would be a bonus. I believe that a multiplayer section would be so useful if you have a group of friends that enjoy simming.

More wildlife: Like Deer, Snakes, Wolves, Rabbits, Turtles, Raccoons ect.

(Please note that I made this account when I was 14, and it was a cringe time for me and that's why my username is this.)

Make sims 4 more virtual world like. For example, allow simmers to create their own world/town, and other simmers can join this community to grow it i.e. Building a town based on simmers creations from a plain canvas. Also allow us to see other sims created by other people in real time. Have more support for modders and cc creators, and a chat system in game to talk to other simmers in real time. Allow modders to create vehicles and allow us to drive these vehicles with real traffic laws.

    1. Think the option to add extra lots in worlds would be really beneficial.
    2. Sim height, although there should be limits. ie, adults shouldn't be shorter than children.
    3. Changes to the lifespan lengths. Long is far too long, but I find medium is too short...should be something inbetween.
    4. Ageing up sims/reproduction. What tends to annoy me most when playing is that either everyone I'm not playing as grows old and dies, and eventually there will be no one since they don't reproduce theirselves. It's annoying having to switch households and edit them with kids etc so often. Or I turn off ageing for non-active households and then when all my children grow up and I move them out, they outgrow their parents...maybe some kind of option to have non-active households have kids.

hmmm an island paradise pack? or simular to that? not like the outdoor retreat. I would love for it to be more in it. but what i loved abou tit was the mermaids. but then again. they gave vampires its own pack. but seeing as how sims cant freely swim in the ocean or lake and etc. so i guess it would be best if meramids came along when they implement that into the game(swimming freely in the ocean and stuff. not just in pools) lol sawwy if i sound cliche. i love mermaids. and when they put that in island paradise i loved the concept of them, and how they went about it. (like ur sim can turn into a meramid or be born as one. and had legs outside of water but had the tail in water). so all in all, i would love to have mermaids/merman put into sims 4, but also would love for them to be concept and have alot of work put into them just as they did for the vampires.

I really love Sims 4 already but a few things that would be awesome imo are:
    1. First and foremost, fix the current bugs/glitches.
    2. We need another vacation world..I'm bored with just granite falls and there should be a beach vacation option. Not everysim likes to rough it.
    3. I agree with lifespan options. Currently using a mod for this.
    4. I would love to be able to propose at dining table in a restaurant and slow dance, or at least dance with a partner in a romantic way (i.e. facing each other). More romantic options in general, not just woohoo locations.

Just start on Sims 5 and don't use an online app game engine. I've just really been playing TS3, TS2 and just bought a copy of The Sims 2 Castaway stories. It just seems like so much more energy went into making those games immersive.
Modders can't even make script mods to flesh out the game.
There are no new careers, or life time wishes.. and while the toddlers are AMAZING and you guys did a seriously amazing job with them..it still just feels.. empty.

I agree with you on that, as much fun as Sims 4 and it's features, it still lacks what Sims 3 had (I'm a huge fan of TS3) Like the Story Progression feature Sims 3 had, when I play Sims 4, all my other made households do nothing much and do occasionally go out, but their friendship levels within the households decrease rather than increase, unless I play as the Sims I've made.

Absolutely the two most important missing elements in The Sims 4 is seasons and garages. Seasons should include a variation of weather and possibly certain natural disasters such as those found in SimCity. Garage doors should absolutely be able to be placed so that they can cut through the foundation, deleting the raised foundation floor inside the garage automatically, allowing Simmers to easily build garages at ground level onto houses with foundations.

I think as a community we should come together and tell the Drake and the team what we want and I think another blank world like Newcrest in an update would be nice with some bigger lots or a dine out world for restaurants.

what we really really need is a way to randomize traits.

please make this happen at some point before this game ever reaches it's end.

choosing traits is so annoying. we have 2 parents, the traits should randomly be chosen at least to some extent from a mix of the parents.

if it could be a checkbox added into game settings to never be asked for traits and be done randomly that would really make my day.

before anyone mentions it, I know there are websites. i'm not interested. it's a pain in the 🐸🐸🐸🐸 enough scrolling thru all the traits trying to decide let alone leaving the game, going to some stupid website and all that other crap.

all i want is a simple little randomize traits button added to the gui and / or a checkbox in game settings to not bother me. so those of you who wish to keep picking or using your websites can continue to do so without the rest of us having to suffer.

I have been playing The Sims since 2001 and have loved every minute of it. I have to say that TS4 is my favorite, especially with the addition of toddlers. Great job on those btw; I can't get enough of them. I've been giving it a lot of thought, and have over time compiled a list of things that I'd like to see added to the game.

Monsters in the closet (whereas the monster would randomly appear under the bed or in the closet (if there is one) and could be banished with either the night light or by spraying for monsters)

The ability to choose whether your sim is left or right handed

The ability to choose the type of emotion attached to a photo when you make it a memory in the photo manager.

More trait slots in CAS or a set of traits similar to those of the toddlers to be added IN ADDITION to the trait slots we already have for each lifestage.

More aspirations, such as: Star Athlete (not everyone who enjoys working out wants to be a bodybuilder), Country Mouse (For the Sim who would rather avoid the big city), Master Craftsman (For those sims who can't get enough woodworking), Master Baker (Because let's face it, some of us really like to bake)

More vacation destinations (even in the original we had more than one vacation spot)

Octagonal hipped roofs (some of us would like some height to the roofs of this shape)

Other supernatural beings (witches, werewolves, zombies, faeries, etc)

The ability to build and designate apartment buildings, not just what we have in San Myshuno).

Also the ability to buy rental properties to generate income in the same manner Sims can already buy restaurants and retail shops.

More jobs, including the ability to work from home for more jobs. This doesn't mean that all new jobs should have the ability, or that all of the existing jobs should either. Below are some examples. Alternately, the ability to go to work with your sims on more jobs would be nice as well.

Some ideas for career options: Education, Military, Daycare, Mechanic, Baker, Construction.
Some ideas for work from home jobs: Business (I know plenty of people who do this), Writer, Painter, Tech Guru

    Vehicles

I made a whole other thread about this but I'll post a summary here:

Careers need to be fixed, pronto, and for the following reasons:

    1. Military and education are still MIA. These have been staples since the beginning and yes, people do play these careers.
    2. Still no part time work for adults. Again, part time work has been a staple since the beginning, and I repeat--players do have adults and even seniors work part time. I don't know if part time work was removed for adults because of a belief that adults don't do that kind of work. But the opposite is true. Not only do adults do part time, it's even more true today in 2017 than it was in 2000.
    3. New careers are too heavily skewed towards techie/2.0/social media/entertainment stuff. There needs to be a balance.
    4. Some of the new careers are redundant and should've been made branches of part of an existing career. Social media and critic are just variations on the writer career. I'm pointing this out because there seems to be this line of thinking of, "Well, if we just spin off all of these career branches into their own separate career tracks, it'll be like like giving players more careers." If that's the case, that's not true. I feel I have even less options this time around than in either TS1 or TS3 because so many of the jobs are so similar.

Don't get me wrong. I love TS4, but for me personally, this iteration won't be officially complete until careers are better fleshed out. Careers are so important to me that I would sooner have them fixed than have all the favorite EPs (pets, seasons, etc.) back.

Generations (family gameplay), cars, grocery and lots, more traits, more aspirations, university, seasons, pets, famous, freetime. If TS4 get this, the game will be amazing.

So, I have no idea if this has been mentioned before, but I would LOVE to have the design features that we had in the Sims3 back in Sims 4. I want to customize the houses and apartments they live in. And I would love more space to put my characters in and build my own world. Also, I love the "play along" careers. I wish there were more of them. I would especially love a "house flippers" option and a "farmer" option. If you expand the world we could have farms where we could make our garden loving sims work full time. That opens up some trading and interaction between restaurant owners and farmers (hello, Farm to Market People. It's a thing), and just gives us a great new scenario to play on. And the flipping houses would be similar to the interior designer gig. BUT you can make it so your sim has to buy some run down old house at the end of the world and work on it, just like house flippers do. You could see the other sims' reactions and learn how to cater to your clientele (their tastes could change based on what world they are in).

On a completely different note: I love the sims city life that we now have, but I want more apartment options. I feel like we're stuck repeating similar stories over and over again. Also, I fear I'll have to remove some original sims to make room for new ones. That's not a fun experience.

I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but I personally miss the option of having roommates for when you live in apartments. I remember the sims 2 apartment life had the option of getting a roommate you don't control, and I miss that.

Also I miss the dating site option that was available in sims 3. Looking for dates online should be a thing just like it is IRL.
