Bumping this (god, I hope I used that correctly) for my newest edit!
“If there's one thing I've learned, it's this: We all want everything to be okay. We don't even wish so much for fantastic or marvelous or outstanding. We will happily settle for okay, because most of the time, okay is enough.”

Wow am I late... well, I'm doing this! So excited! I'm not going to post what happens though...
Basically the backstory is that 3 sims ran away from home as teenagers. After aging to being young adults, they heard about a lot that was cheap! They all wanted it, so instead of only giving it to one, the agency gave them 24,000 dollars and told them to build a house. Considering they didn't know each other, they each build one house on the same lot using that money, but didn't have enough for any fun objects! Then, the challenge begins...
@EuphorialQueen
I like this idea. I don't like generational challenges cause they are just too darn long but this seems doable for me.
I think I'll set up the 3 separate room/ communal area and kitchen (especially because of Seasons)
I'll claim beds for sure but is door locking mandatory?
Is the 8 am switch over change set in stone? I'm thinking of trading off like at midnight. I like the idea of controlling them for 2 days also. Might be easier to remember. I have visions of switching over to a flat out red sim before they go to work, not being able to do anything about that at all and it might drive me nutso.
I also like the free Sunday idea...
@Hermitgirl
Door locking suggested but not necessary.
I found the switch off ummm interesting and I sometimes forgot.
I would encourage you to adjust as you see fit to make this playable.
I am working /testing a version with 2 Sims. Each Sim will be controlled for a full week. Sunday is still a free day with both Sims controllable. More to come after working out a few details.
Hmm.. since I'm just starting I think I'll try it like you have in your spoiler too. Not sure if it becomes more of a guide than a challenge that way though but at the same time I might actually stick to it all the way through if I have some control. Anyway thanks for the ideas .
Omg I'm gonna create the odd couple from that old tv show *giggles*
I ran a condo with doors locked and one of my sims burned in his unit because none of the others could reach him. (Good if you want an unplayable ghost because friendships weren't high enough to rez him.)

So, I started doing this with a female and two males. Both the males have the romantic trait, so when I'm controlling one of them, the other goes to flirt with her. The girl actually completed the serial romantic aspiration and is a player, so she could date them both. However, the boys hate each other because they both want the same girl. Talk about unexpected developments.
While playing the revised version I found locking front doors worked. Doors between the units seemed to stay locked. But the resident Sims sometimes ignored that and went right through.
I am getting ready to start the challenge! There will be one woman and two men. Come and check out the my Youtube Channel, SimLife to watch the characters be created, the townhomes to be built, and the story to unfold! If you come and watch, comment below the video and let me know where you are coming from! I also have other challenges that I am doing as well including 100 Baby and 100 Mermaid challenges, The Black Widow, 7 Toddlers, Alien Takeover, plus a couple of LP's. One LP is the random wheel, Where the whole sim's life and decisions are made by the wheel. I do what it tells me to do. I am open to other ideas for challenges or LP's that anyone would like to see. I am currently at 169 Subscribers, when I hit 222, I will be giving away a Game pack of the winners choice! So far, I have given away 10 packs to my subscribers with more to come! I look forward to seeing you guys there! Hugs and Luvs, Namaste <3
I'm trying this challenge now. I just played the first 4 days. One of my sims keeps eating. I think he ate 4 meals the first day when I could not control him. I hope he stays slim. And the other sims just slept on the couch 10 times a day. She has the lazy trait.
First thing I did is have the sims lock their front door for anyone but themselves. This way they don't visit each other's houses. That is nice. And each house is a different colour. Otherwise they are the same. When I save, I ad the colour to the name so I know which sim should be active.
With all the bills I don't think keeping track of expenses and income will really work. The money would be gone for the weekly bill I think. Also, cooking costs money too.
Just like the sims 3 all the fridges in the sims 4 are linked. So if you put something in a fridge it is accessible from all the fridges. I hope they fix that one day. Would be nice if there was a setting in the options to disable food sharing between fridges. Books are accessible from all houses too.
So far it is a fun challenge. Thanks for posting it.
Hey, there is a mod out there that can assist in the tracking of money to help out with that part of the challenge. It's called SNB by SimRealist. You can make it so that a sims paycheck goes into the household funds or a separate fund and can have bills come out of there as well.

If there is still an interest in this type of challenge I will have at it again.

Priceless!
That does work ... for the most part
