A new old WIP - Going back to my very first map

Yes I have been gone for a while, I wanted to stop the world building and get better at building my own lots so I spent a lot of time in the Creative Corner and went through a ton of the tutorials there including the awesome ZooU courses. When I first started in CAW I created a world that eventually was scrapped and reworked (known now as Notchcliff Isles) and after completing several worlds I have decided to go back to that very first heightmap (glad I saved it) and want to give it another try. I have not come up with a name for it yet but here are 2 shots I found of that original world (think I still have a few others, I will post if I can find more).....




Will update as often as possible.

Love that you're going back. I have an old remake of Riverview I've worked on for 3 or so years I've been itching to get back to. I have a feeling even if we get a world creation tool for TS4 it won't be near as satisfying as making a TS3 world. I truly cringe every time I'm in game in TS4. It's all so cartooney and closed in, I feel claustrophobic.

I know what you mean lynds, I am definitely not a fan of TS4 even the in game build objects looks like a cross between pixar and looney toons...lolHave more fun and more options in TS3

So as I stated I took a small detour to learn more about lot building so here is one of the projects for my new/old world

Well I have begun the rebuilding of this world so I thought I would share a screen shot of where I am at the moment. Still have a LONG way to go on this one as I am actually going to attempt building most of the lots for this world.....

As the world progresses there was one island that I wanted to have a special looking lot. At first I was thinking a prison but that did not seem to fit and looking at my "Patwick Castle" build I thought what a great place to put a landmark tomb. So here is the beginning of the spin-off of that build, the castle itself will only be a shell for this lot.......

I took a design from NYC lots- By Framedarchitecture, and re-worked them a bit so I cannot take any credit for the originality of this lot.

The world is looking very nice! The exterior of the buildings looks great! It looks very nice how you have used the glass skylights roofing in some of the builds. It looks great how you have done the steps up to the front doors of the homes. The trees look nice how you have placed them on the edges of the street. It looks very nice how you have done the water fountains and flowers/tree garden feature area! The statue looks nice there. Sims will enjoy sitting on the seat benches there, enjoying being outdoors in the sunshine.
The WIP is looking great!

Thanks everyone for such wonderful comments!! School is kicking my tail and slowed the progress of this build very much. Still have a few final touches to go on the exterior but the ground level is just about complete. Since this lot is mostly for the Tomb I did not want to go into to much detail on this level here are a few new pics...








Hopefully soon I will be starting on the Tomb and I do not plan on making it easy. The wrong move could lead to a crispy Sim...hehe

Your castle lot is looking very nice! The water fountains and statue feature area looks very nice! Very nice exterior of the castle! The design of it is very nice! The texture of the exterior looks very nice! The towers look great! It looks very nice the types of and how you have placed the windows in the build! It looks very nice how you have done the seat bench sitting area where you have placed the fountain in the middle of the nook arra and have nice flowers there for sims to enjoy seeing whilst sitting there! It looks very nice!
I hope that you have lots of fun working on the tomb!

Rose thank you so much I always love hearing your comments! Well I have been working on more of the layout of the world and decided to run a quick test of a few things like the overlook and castle here are a few shots of the progression so far.....

the "new" business district (taken game time around dusk)

I removed two lots on the back side of the world and re-sculpted the island to create a park area, fishing spot and waterfall


Should have the general layout of the world completed soon and will get to finish the painting, trees and other deco here soon

The world is looking very nice! The waterfall and rock area is so very nice! Sims will have such nice views of it when standing on the overlook! The buildings in and layout of the business district looks great!
