Ah! This is a little confusing at first but it is 3:00am for me, hah! I'm sure I'll get to 'Member' soon, I'd like to post a cool sims challenge that I thought of earlier today! (Otherwise, I've just lurked and only recently made an account for the aforementioned reason of sims challenges!)

Hello @Ady Welcome to the forums!
You need to have 50 points and 30 posts before you can become a full member and can then post pictures, have a signature, edit posts , post links and change your profile picture.
There is usually a blue new discussion button at the top right hand side of the screen in the forum sections. But new discussion threads though may have been restricted for new members. You may not be able to start a new thread until you become a full member. This occurs sometimes, especially at weekends and at holiday times.

You receive a point each time another simmer presses like or awesome or insightful on a post that you have posted. Keep posting on the different sections of the forums and you will soon get the points/posts. The off topic section is a good place to start posting
sorry for being a nuisance but do you have to be a member to start a discussion because i have a problem ;/
You are not a nuisance at all!

If you have a game issue, you could post about your issue on another similar thread that another simmer has already started, and there will be simmers that will help you with your issue.
this is super helpful, I just signed up to enter a contest and i thought i could post the picture links and it told me it couldn't and now I have to wait. ugh

Hello @Roniebear Welcome to the forums!
Because you aren't a member yet, you can't post pictures or links, but you can upload your pictures to a photo sharing site such as imgur or tinypic , then right click the picture on the photo sharing site and copy/paste the image address link in the thread but break the image code link up, such as putting h.tt.p.
Simmers can then put the codes back together and post the pictures for you.

I find this really annoying, as when you are a new member it can be hard to get 'points'. It is also really annoying for if you have a legitimate problem, you can't post a thread or add links to direct people to places that might help them..
*sigh* I joined just so I could ask for help on on making custom content. If you're wondering what I want, I'll just post it here. I want to make clothes from characters on the show "Avatar: The Last Airbender." I looked online and it seems that there are no clothes from this show and I would just like to make clothes so I can make a family of them to play with. I want to create clothes for Katara (for first). If you don't know what she looks like, just google it. I can't post links yet. So, you know how she has blue leggings underneath and a long sleeved shirt underneath and a sort-of "kimono" on top. I want to recreate that. I want to know how I would go about creating a whole outfit of her of the "kimono," leggings, and shirt. I know that there are leggings under accessories, but I at least want to make a long sleeved shirt and kimono together as one, and have the leggings added under accessories, but how would I do this? Thanks anyways. I post this to the forums for CC after I'm able to make discussions.

I'm so confused about this member thing.
I have 112 points and 32 posts but I still can't make a topic or post a link.
Is the rank status updated at like a certain time?

Hello @amiebabes_ox and MarcoArts Welcome to the forums!
Keep posting in the different sections of the forums and you will soon get the required posts and points. The off topic section of the forums is a good section to start posting in.
In my opinion this rank system is plum. Everyone that has an account for 24 hours should be able to post new threads.
This system that EA has put into place has worked just fine rooting out trolls but sadly we had some spambots last year that found ways around the system to post links without becoming full members. November was the last spambot attack and it was the last time that I saw New members starting new threads. The requirement to be a full member isn't really all that bad as there is an Off Topic section that has some word and story games that 1 can join in to get their post count up as well as their points once people either hit Awesome, Like or Insightful. You can also posts in other threads that you are interested in and still gain your posts/point count.
The moderators of this forum is suppose to be looking into other ways to keep these spammers and trolls off of the site but for the time being, this is the system that they have in place. And maybe whatever they come up with, they will hopefully do away with these requirements but for the time being, I for one am really glad that they are in place. If you were to see what we saw back in September-October 2014, then you too would understand why this is in place. And then to see all of the Korean spambots taking over the forum 2-3 days a week since last January 2016 until November 2016, then you would understand that even had a 24 hour grace period still won't work as the spammers/spambots would then have field day at spamming this site with their site/s that doesn't belong here. Some of the spammers had made their accounts years ago and had now only just used them to spam non-sims websites on this site.
So let med get this right? Even though I have been on this forum for 7 years and been able to do it before, I can't post a new thread because I somehow doesn't have enough points? Have never been very active on here, and haven't posted anything in some years now, but this is really stupid. I basically have to spam post meaningless nonsense so I can start a new thread?
