As a matter of interest, which RPG are you playing that gets you investigating cases?
I, too, caved and preordered GTW yesterday Looking forward to all aspects of it but just a teeny weeny bit disappointed that aliens have to be bald! But I'm sure a modder will sort that out...
And also looking forward to your GTW thread and Melonie, Michelle and Ling's exploits...
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. I bought it from Steam at a ridiculous sale price.
The characters are Bracers--monster fighters, but also crime solvers.
Yeah, I am a bit miffed about bald aliens. I hope it's possible to do some genetic work by playing with Genetics in CAS.
Will check that out, thanks.
I'm sure it'll be possible to get around the hairless noggin fairly soon And I'm liking what I see so far of aliens in CAS - the skin tones and face paint - and looking forward to what the CC creators will do with it all.
I wonder if you can make their human form look like their alien self and add human hair.

There's always that option! I'm sure it can be done already with the cc that's out there...
This was the first time I notice this top in CAS, if memory serves me correctly. It's somewhat superhero-ish in a Captain America/ Wonder Woman kind of way.
Michelle is going for the bad girl look.
My dear odd couple, you really need more things to do in this game.
Get out there and visit someone.
It's Cairo, or at least my first attempt at him.
I think I should have had a second or third try at him before releasing him from CAS.
No time for chit chat, we need to max out that mischief skill.
"I broke it on purpose, yet I am upset that is broken and I don't know why."
Programming is why. It's probably on a patch to-do list somewhere.
She's not done yet.
Making a grown man cry, it seems highly amusing to Michelle.
I was surprised that Cairo used the Spam 'em Silly social on her.
By the looks of it, so was she.
Share the love.
Now rob him blind.
It's time to be moving on to visit other neighbors, but why not take Cairo with us?
He isn't happy, perhaps it's the hair.
It just doesn't say TS3 Cairo.
Maybe someone will convert it for TS4.
I don't visit the Goths enough.
Hmmm... kinda boring. Where are they?
Oh there's Bella.
Cario looks like he's doing the sleeping in a cheap bed animation. That's why he's grumpy.
Michelle is off to work on her mischief skill.
Careful, Ling, You may end up with Cairo babies.
EA really needs to stop this after making mischief.
All the Goths are upstairs on the top floor. Mortimer is out doing...whatever.
I'll send Michelle up to amuse them.
I don't think they are amused.
Casandra bailed out and came downstairs.
Alexander tried to give as well as got.
But he bailed out as well. Michelle found herself alone rather quickly.
They might want to go back upstairs because Ling can shred the eardrums with that thing.
Speaking of annoying...
Perhaps she should have stayed downstairs.
PHRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...
Oh that look is so worth it!
Gotta use that on sims we don't like.
[...]
"Will you stop making me do this? It's pointless."
Yeah it is. TS3 teen pranks were more interesting than TS4 sabotaging.
Hmm... the real excitement is going on in the kitchen.
This is my first fire while visiting other sims. Alexander puts it out.
Yeah... that makes perfect sense. Run away from the fire after it has been put out.
"Fire? Why didn't I think of that?"
"Why isn't arson part of my repertoire?"
You all are safe from the extinguished fire.
Alright, time to go home.
Is it wrong to like to watch Ling run? She's so cute.
I don't believe they will be invited back over to Goths anytime soon.
I do have Get To Work and I am playing and taking pictures.
I am really behind on posting. I really need to fast track. I have rebooted my sims since the last post and before even getting Get To Work. All those CC hairs that aren't compatible with hats was really bugging me, so I removed them and started a new neighborhood containing a lot of my favorite sims that I plan to play in rotation.
I had decided to start a new game a while back and I am reporting it now as I catch up. I was sick of the CC hair that weren't compatible with hats. I removed them and of course had a bunch of bald townies walking around town. I also wanted to replace the Olivia with a custom content version of herself.
Looking a bit surly when she arrived for a visit. I had place over half a dozen new sims in my game and I wanted to make social contacts with them all.
So we went visiting each house, building an entourage along the way.
We picked up Riya (orange skirt). She's back.
Our final stop was Monique's house.
The potential for hook ups and fooling around is high here, but I am not feeling a need for exploring relationships at the moment. That would eventually lead to marriage, kids, and family play. I don't want to go there without the toddler stage and teens as they are.
Well... there might be a little fooling around.
Now that everyone is in, I plan to play them all in rotation to see if this will make the game more fun for me.
I played for a couple of days, getting careers started, building relationships, and adding custom content.
I then had my sims throw a party, with party goals. I think I would have had more fun if I had simply focused on socializing.
Michelle was really tired near the end of it and went to bed.
One of the party goals was to have so many sims eat cake. That surprised me since it wasn't a birthday party.
The caterer had not made one, so I had Ling do it. The party ended before she could finish.
We got an silver award, but this couch was too big, so I had them sell it.
I would have been better off scoring relationship points. I don't think they knew their friends much better.
A boost in relationship scores should be part of the party rewards. That would be a good incentive for throwing a party in the first place.
TS4 graphics are great for color, image resolution, and clothing textures, so people are probably scratching their heads when I whine about the graphics. I am just disappointed in mesh quality and blockiness, and world textures. The game still looks good, but it's the details for me.
She made that for nothing. I will probably throw another party. She can save it for the next.
I should have checked in on Michelle. She took a nap instead of going to sleep.
I forgot she had to work tonight. I had intended for the energy potion to be used for a night out on the town.
Oh well, down the hatch.
Love the Oracle outfit. Shiny.
I sent Ling to visit Olivia and had Cedric tag along just because the option was there.
Ling looks happy. Cedric looks like he's thinking: Why am I here?
At this time, I was feeling like I should put this game away. I finally got sims I really like, but game play is pretty basic and boring.
I felt that I should just sit it aside until 4 EPs come out and there is much more to do.
Ling!
I had stopped her from eating the party cake about four times.
She went downstairs when I wasn't looking and had a slice for breakfast.
Sneaky!
The mixologist bug was happening around this time and I wanted to see if a patch at that time had fixed it. It was a good time to seen my sims out to a club anyway. The bug was still there, but I had found a way around it. I had Riya order drinks for the group. You only need two sims to do it. The mixologist started serving drinks again.
However, Olivia, being the snobby opportunist that she is, snatched up Riya's drink.
Riya ordered for herself and Michelle.
"Thanks for the drink."
Olivia sat at table, so I clicked on the drink to have Riya take it back. However, Olivia was three steps ahead of Riya and was already on the move.
"I don't think so. My drink."
Oh the nerve!
She really thinks she can claim it by slurping on it.
It's the principle of the matter.
"My drink."
Oh stop it. There are plenty of drinks to be had now that the bug is squashed.
Enjoy your drink, sir.
Everyone belly up to the bar and order up.
Uh... I think.
Yeah, still working. I was worried there for a second.
So a temporary workaround. Grab a friend and order a group drink.
Thanks, Ms. Ramaswami. See you next week.
Maybe.
That bug has been fixed, but will probably show up again after another patch in the future.
So this is where my sims were before I bought Get To Work and Outdoor Retreat. These two packs had me interested in playing them seriously instead of just dropping in now an then to watch them interact.
Get To Work!
This is the official start of my playing with Get to work.
I also got to work on some home building as I expanded on the Urbanite Heritage home and created this deluxe model.
I build homes in series and TS4 build mode makes it so much easier to this.
It was really easy to build off Michelle's and Ling's original home.
Too bad our neighborhoods are so small and limited. Otherwise I would be building like crazy. I don't fee much desire to build now. and of course having no Create-A-Style feature isn't helping either.
I forgot she had that in her inventory.
Angry Girl isn't annoyed by Ling's playing.
She's just living up to her nickname with those random anger emotions.
This is Vaughn Noble. I added him to household to help test out this large house. I was also getting a little bored with just Michelle and Ling, plus I would like to test out more of Get To Work with this household.
A case of butt brow there, Vaughn?
Sims got some serious brow muscles.
Oh no, Riya is sad again. I always feel sorry for her, like it's my fault for not playing her.
I promise I will play you more often this time.
I have yet to try woodworking in this game. I can't say I've found the few objects that I have seen to be interesting or want my sims to have, but I will try it just to try it. Vaughn gets a hobby.
The view is nice on this lot.
I also added Monique to this household. I am not sure what I will have her pursue yet.
Searching around for information on the web has her bored.
Ling is getting a little pudgy.
She always had a little roundness to the tummy, but extra weight makes it more noticeable.
Measure twice, cut once.
And it's looking like...
a hacked up chunk of wood.
Enough with the wood work, Vaughn needs to get to work.
He is pursing becoming Dr. Noble.
But we will not go to work with him, instead, we will go down to the police station.
I do really appreciate EA making objects not disappear while close up in camera mode. This building in the foreground would disappear before the patch that fixes the issue.
Angry Girl as a cop-- this organization clearly has a poor screening filter to let in ex-criminals, but who better to fight crime than a criminal?
The layout of the station looks alright. I don't feel any urge to edit it.
It's her first day on the job and she is already assisting in a case.
She just needs to look it up on the computer first.
I am already jealous of these guys. I want Michelle to rise up in rank so she can wear her shield on her belt and sport that gun-less gun holster straps.
It's cool that there is a police chief. This place seems to have a level of immersion that we don't get in EPs. I am still wondering about the game play however, but the lot is immersive.
Alright, let's get to work. Yeah I am over using that phrase.
And this map is key to getting to the crime scene.
P.U.R.E.?
Really?
The crime happened at my dance club?
What? Someone defaced my dance club.
P.U.R.E. is no longer pure.
The nerve! Someone is going to pay for this.
They weren't very original. The same tag again.
That has to be the eyewitness.
Get all the details, Michelle. We are going to collar this person.
More evidence, how cute. She has all the evidence she needs. She'll go back to the station and process it. I am cutting it off here because this page just has too many pictures on it.
Michelle went back to the police station to analyze and process the evidence.
Somebody is going to have to give up a computer.
Thank you.
As a rookie cop this is all she had to do for this particular case.
Now she has to go through the do list of assigned tasks.
She has to process this law breaker.
I am still not fond of the game telling me what to do, but at least there are several things to choose from and they are replaced with new tasks as they are completed.
I would rather get points for whatever I decide to do in whatever order that makes sense to me.
These to-do lists short circuit scenarios I want to play out.
Let's get on with it.
"Is this some kind of weapon?"
"It's a toy for my niece."
"That horn is really sharp for a kid's toy. She could put her eye out."
"Uh...It must be a manufacturing flaw. I will return it."
"What the... a fish?"
"That's my lunch."
"A raw fish?"
"What? You've never had sushi?"
Despite the list of tasks, this is a bit immersive.
I am playing to list for now, but I am curious to play it and ignore the list later.
You are such the rookie, Michelle. You are supposed to keep the prisoner in front of you.
It's a good thing she found the llamacorn. Let me out of here, or I will gouge her eyes out with this llamacorn!
"In you go."
"So, no sushi?"
"No sushi, but she failed to find the sardines."
More to do.
She is getting opinions from the other officers.
Oh we have a real criminal mastermind here.
Yeah, you get back in there.
"Bwahhahaha!"
"Wahhh!"
It's good thing she can get something to eat. She's starving.
She can multitask eating while having the required chat with the police chief. But that Angry Girl anger has kicked in.
She's a loose cannon now.
We have to work off that anger.
Much better, and now her shift is over.
Well that was interesting. This EP is giving me something to do while I wait for the game to get the things I really want.
Status Update
I am doing much more playing than posting.
I am actually starting to have a little fun with the game, despite some disappoints with Get To Work.
I promised that I would play Riya more this time and I am actually stuck on her as I make her an herbalist. I've really enjoyed playing her and her roommates and I look forward to covering it all.
Ling, Vaughn, Melonie, Cairo, and Olivia
Want to keep it interesting? Throw more sims at the game.
I am tossing out my odd couple scenario of the criminal and the business woman.
Michelle is a cop and Ling is a scientist.
The security fence outside is weak, but this place is very secure inside.
What on Earth do they do here?
There is a lot of nice detailed objects in here. They don't do anything, but they may come in handy for a mad scientist lab or a technology business.
Uh oh, here we go with the linear task lists again.
I thought EA learned their lesson from the base game, but then again, this EP was already underdevelopment when simmer feedback came in.
You do get to choose from 3 tasks at a time and even skip some tasks if you want to. Perhaps our feedback had something to do with it.
Still, I like being free to choose what I want from a wide range of possiblities.
I like the Invention Constructor. It reminds me of the plumbot making device from Into The Future.
Plus it is a robot with an AI itself.
And now she is brainstorming with the constructor. Neat.
3D printing.
You know something has reached pop-culture status when you see it in the sims.
Pointing out what to do.
I went to work with Vaughn the next day.
I wonder which of the townies are going to snag Dr. Noble.
Melonie is the receptionist?
This is great!
I gave her a medical career, but I doubted I would even see her on the job.
I am afraid to play her now.
I will probably lose her if I play her in the career. I might wait a while so I can see her when I play Vaughn.
I forgot to have Vaughn eat something.
He is wasting his work day.
Not that his first day on the job is actually taxing.
He's basically just greeting some patients.
Those red hearts can't be good.
Melonie certainly is convincing in her job.
Although...
There is a little disconnect for arriving patients. They just stand there with little contact with her.
I can't resist having Vaughn chat her up before moving on to his next and last task of the day:
Getting Coffee.
Melonie stopped by the house after work. It's nice having co-workers as friends.
I did have them party a little at P.U.R.E.
With all this work going on, I do feel the need to get them out. I will be sending them camping sooner or later.
I don't know what hair to put on Melonie. I am constantly looking for a style she can call her own.
Cairo has swagger, and a haircut.
Seeing him made me decide to rotate over to his house.
My imagination is convinced that Olivia noticed his swagger.
I sent him out to the park and Ling happened to be there. I had them play chess.
This townie made me laugh while she took a selfie.
Ling had somewhere else to be and Cassandra Goth took her seat.
Cairo didn't care for her attitude.
Cassandra then changed tactics and became all flirty.
She's still a teen, isn't she? Danger, Cario!
Still, her antics were very funny.
Ling caught up with Cairo at home as he went about upgrading his rocket ship.
It's nice ti have company while you work. Cairo lives alone, so it's always nice to have visitors.
Let's get this bird into the air.
Cairo was an astronaut early in TS3. He's not in that career track now, but I thought it would be fun to have him build a rocket.
I might as well give him the career, but he may drop out of and be a writer. He can write about his adventures, rocket building, and science fiction.
Olivia Banks happened to be walking up when he returned.
She was in an angry mood when he caught up with her.
Cairo taking her hands and kissing them surprised her.
Pleasantly surprised.
She was willing for a romantic adventure in his rocket ship by nightfall.
Liftoff!
That must have been a great trip.
An unexpected romantic space journey, yeah, good stuff.
I am starting to really enjoy GTW now. I have so many sims in rotation. I hadn't gotten far with the careers.
It started getting more enjoyable when I started playing Riya and getting her a couple of roommates.
I think I need to start breaking up my post into parts, or start putting in a lot of filler posts. That last page had a crazy amount of pics.
[Random]
How I felt about TS3 Story Progression before NRAAS mods.
I currently have aging off in TS4, and it will remain off until I start playing generations of families. (Need Toddlers)
Story progression is do it yourself.
Olivia's Boutique
I did have a small backstory for Olivia when I created her. She suddenly found herself richer from a timely inheritance. She recieved a nice home, but not enough cash to sustain her lifestyle.
So now she has to find a way to make money. She's out at Magnolia Promenade to check out the other retail shops.
She is starting out from scratch with an empty lot.
I think I will have fun with this. Build mode is so flexible I can easily change things around as I grow the busines.
She is starting off really simple. This will be good for learning how retail business work.
Townies in the same outfit. Hmm... I better offer more clothing options and change them out often, or I will have a town full of sims wearing the same outfits.
But that might not be a big issue. Olivia is focusing of Formal and Party attire. It might be wise to stay away from everyday wear.
Liberty Lee could do with an everyday makeover however.
Yeah, this might work out.
You have your market niche, Olivia.
She's going to have to charge a lot of money for her products. Upscale for sure.
In TS2 open for business, I ran two categories of shops.
I had businesses for sims to make money and I had business for my sims to shop at and acquire hard to get objects. Not everyone has time for gardening, making herbs, making high tech objects, etc. These type of stores allow my sims to take advantage of all the cool objects in the game.
This lot is just for Olivia to make cash.
I am not into playing businesses, to be honest. I would rather make stores for my other sims to shop and get the things they need.
Time to rotate households.
Michelle is out to nab a suspect, from the seated position. This guy has seen someone meeting the description.
That would be him.
"Not so fast, sir, we need to talk."
"I am placing you under arrest for..."
? What did he do? I forgot.
Well that was easy.
I guess this would be asking for too much in The Sims 4.
A foot chase would have been nice. Give a percentage of a sim making a run for it based on traits and have the cop chase them around the area. An escape would be based on career experience, skills, and traits.
"Hey! I expect Precious back in mint condition when I get out of here."
I believe I will stick with rotating between careers and households. It should it feel less repetitive.
Emotions will fluctuate. Always Look On The Bright Side of Life, I guess.
(I opted not to post the YouTube video. It could have gotten me in trouble.)
Michelle ended her day with a chat with the police chief.
The chief is always interested in what she has to say.
Upon returning home, Olivia and Melonie dropped by.
I am having Monique dabble in photography.
I will probably have her own a photography studio. Not everyone will have one of these on their lot, nor waste the money on it. It might be a nice community lot to have.
I like the black background.
I really love putting photos on my sims walls. This was one of the selling points for me. I just wish more sims could be in a photo.
I would settle for four.
I did a double-take when I saw your shot of the guy on the motorcycle, lol. A little too much for The Sims, I guess. Great pictures. I've got 8 stores in my game, and my sims are supposed to buy everything from them. Clothing is the most fun.

I think I will have about the same.
We really need more space in this game. I am still mind-boggled that EA provided so few lots with this EP. Outside of Olivia's Botique, I might provide a large clothing store for my sims to shop for clothes. I would always have them go on a shopping spree whenever they aged up and was dressed in horrible clothes in TS2. Especially my teens.
A word of warning about teens -- mine bought something off a mannequin, but didn't twirl around and change into it, and it's not in her wardrobe. I'm hoping they'll change that in the next patch.

The Shield.
Ok, I have to put in my theme music, even though it is more comical secret agent than comical cop drama.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI77bsnfJeo
Hmmm... a TS4 version of my Edna Mode sim...
I wonder what other adventures lie ahead for these two. I am ready for a game pack already.
Now to figure out what to do with these two.
The woman loves rockets now.
How I felt about TS3 Story Progression before NRAAS mods.
I currently have aging off in TS4, and it will remain off until I start playing generations of families. (Need Toddlers)
Story progression is do it yourself.
So... what to do next?
Ooh! Aliens!
@2MVWdeZT
