Description and pictures of the first three commercial lots.

    Senator’s Club
The Senator’s Club is a Showtime Private Venue. The building requires a flat lot of at least 16 x 30. The building has three floors and a roof top area.
    screenshot_original.jpg
The basement of this club has bathrooms, pool tables, McShuffle, and music.
    screenshot_original.jpg
The first floor has an entrance lobby with a rope barrier. You must be a level 1 celebrity to enter or pay a $50 bribe. If you are lucky, you might be able to sneak in. Once inside, you can get food or drinks at the juice bar, play chess or dominoes, play the piano, or sit and converse with other celebrities or read.
    screenshot_original.jpg
The second floor has a Showtime stage for those following any of the Showtime performance careers. Performing on the stage of a private venue requires a performer of level 7. Behind the elevators are a small dance area, music and McShuffle.
    screenshot_original.jpg
The roof has a closed in area with lounges for sun bathing. For those who get hungry there are snack machines and a fortune cookie machine.
    screenshot_original.jpg

    Synatschk Souvenir Shop
The souvenir shop requires a 20 x 25 flat lot. The shop and grounds are decorated with items, but they can’t be bought. This commercial lot can be used in place of a book store rabbit hole or as an additional bookstore when the world has islands or is large and separate communities need easy access to books.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Inside there are two registers from WA. The register on the left is a book seller register (WA). You can buy and sell books at this register and it can be used instead of a bookstore rabbit hole. Unlike a rabbit hole, it does not provide a part-time career. The register on the right is a relic register (WA). Divers and treasure hunters can sell or buy gems, metals or relics. For gems and metals you get a better price at an elixir shop. For relics, you get the inventory price at this register, but it is more fun to sell them in a shop than just sell them at home from your inventory.
    screenshot_original.jpg

    Kubenka’s Kolache Shop
The kolache shop requires a 20 x 30 flat lot. It fits in the space of Flying V’s Coffeehouse. It is a coffeehouse with a Showtime stage and performers with level 3 skill can perform here. In addition, a Sim can buy food, snacks and treats.
Kolache are a traditional Czeck breakfast pastry (circle of dough with a fruit center).
I had uploaded an earlier copy, but it had some routing issues, so this is a new copy (8/1/14)
    screenshot_original.jpg
The next picture shows Sims playing Skee ball inside the kolache shop. In the front you can buy food at the cash register on the left (WA food register) or snacks at the cash register on the right (Univ snack register). There are bathrooms on the right and arcade games on the left. In the back is a Showtime performance stage, seating for the show, a bubble machine and foosball.

The first Residence - a houseboat

    Three Story Houseboat
The picture below shows the three story houseboat inspired by an HGTV home tour and built for my world. This houseboat is equipped for a scientific and musical family
    screenshot_original.jpg
The first floor has a large eat-in kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. The rest of the space is devoted to living. There is a television, domino table, jukebox and bookcase. There is plenty of seating for reading, watching the sea or enjoying the music.
    screenshot_original.jpg
The second floor has another bedroom and bathroom plus an exercise room. The rest of the space is devoted to gaming with McShuffle, Skee ball, and two video game machines. The back deck has lounge chairs
    screenshot_original.jpg
The third floor has another bedroom and bathroom. At the front are an art easel and telescope. In the common area are another bookcase and chair plus a chemistry table and computer on the desk. A piano and bass are ready for practicing or a small jam session.

    Six Families
I packaged 6 families in a zip file to help anyone wishing to have a smaller population in my world, Housenfluke Rest. This post will describe each family. The families are Kunz Parents, Kunz, Housenfluke, Hobratsch, Synatchk, and Schwerdtfeger. The first 4 reside on Housenfluke Island and the last two reside on Moldenhauer Island. These are the two main islands in my world.

The package of 6 families to partially populate the unpopulated world - http://mediafire.com/download/cmvcodfbgmc2kjc/HR_Families.zip

I tried to make my families different in two ways – last name and facial sliders.

When I was lined up ready to rush the quarterback in our high school flag football game, I noticed the quarterback was named “Bridgeman”. I thought that name was interesting and showed one of his ancestors probably tended a bridge. In the middle ages everyone took a middle name and the names were derived from location, kinship, employment, etc. We got names like Smith, Johnson, and Rivers in English. Similarly Austrians, Germans, and Czechoslovakian created last names. My world and home and family feature many of these names. In the family descriptions below I will repeat some of what I learned on ancestry web sites about these names.

Someone on a forum said EA Sims (defaults, service, and NPC) were “pudin” faced. Not being an artist, I was not exactly sure what was meant by that comment. :D However, I did notice that three facial sliders were little used. In CAS under Looks  Head and Ears  Advanced  Jaw the Jaw Underbite was always zero making the lower jaw almost disappear. I slide this out some. In this same advanced picture under Cheek the Nasalabial Crease (the crease from the nose down to the sides of the mouth) is almost always set to 0. I slide this about half way. In the same menu, the Cheek Jowls are rarely used and I slide it out for many Sims.

    Kunz Parents

Curley and Matilda Kunz farmed this land and have retired to a small house with a nice garden (Curley Copse house from AP). The picture below shows them standing in the front yard of this house. As exported they have 48,886 Simoleans which is enough to afford this house and have 8,000 Simoleans left over.
    screenshot_original.jpg

Curley an adult has a lifetime wish to have a perfect garden and is a level 2 gardener. His traits are easily impressed, good, green thumb, neat and a perfectionist. He is a level 2 fisherman which helps with gardening because the fish can be used for fertilizer and a level 4 gardener.screenshot_original.jpg

Matilda an adult has a lifetime wish to be a renowned surgeon and is level 5 in the medical career. She has traits of angler, bookworm, genius, natural born cook, schmoozer. Her skills include charisma level 1, cooking level 2 and fishing level 3. None of those help her medical career and she needs to work on logic.screenshot_original.jpg

The origin of Kuntz (Kunz is a variant) is German: from the old personal name Chunizo, formed with Old High German kuoni ‘bold’, ‘brave’, ‘experienced’, or possibly chunni ‘race’, ‘people’. It is sometimes taken as a pet form of Konrad. The expression Hinz und Kunz was a German equivalent of ‘every Tom, 🐸🐸🐸🐸, and Harry’. This is a family name, but don’t worry, the personal information here is generations deep and will never be asked as a security question.

    Kunz Family

Dustin Kunz, the son of Matilda and Curley, lives in the Central District of Housenfluke Island with his wife, two children and the dog Chester. Even though Dustin is the son of a farmer, he has decided to move into the city and pursue a different career. The picture below shows the family standing in front of their downtown house (A Doll’s House from the bin). The family has 184,169 Simoleans which is enough to afford this house and have 12,000 Simoleans left over.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Dustin, a young adult, has a lifetime ambition to be a star news anchor and has jond the Joournalism career. He has traits of artistic, athletic, computer whiz, friendly and neat. He has level 1 skills of charisma and writing.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Renee has a lifetime wish to be a forensic specialist and has just started in law enforcement. She has traits of artistic, athletic, disciplined, neat and no sense of humor. Her skills include athletic and logic at level 1.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Francinn is a child and just starting school. She has traits of Athletic, bookworm, and computer whiz.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Martin, a child, is starting school and has traits of genius, light sleeper, and virtuoso.
    screenshot_original.jpg
I build the children of my families in CAS using the “Fun with genetics” option. It looks like both Francinn and Martin have Dustin’s nose and Renee’s mouth. Francinn may have Renee’s eye brows, but with the bangs it is hard to tell.

The dog, Chester, is the standard golden retriever with traits of clueless, hunter, and non-destructive. I find assigning “non-destructive” saves a lot of frustration. A pet without that trait will tear up the furniture until you teach them not to do that.

For some reason the your generation did not show a picture when I uploaded it. I deleted and exported again on 8/25/2014. Sorry for the inconvenience.

More to come - the Housenfluke family next. Done 8/25/2014 - see post below.

The Kunz parents sims are very nice :) It is great reading the background details of these sims and also of their family name. It is a nice photo of them in their front yard. It looks great how you have done their faces. I will look forward to seeing and reading about the other families too. :)

    Banana Fana

Because I built an island world many lots were sloped. Seaside and mountain lots needed a slope or too much land would be steep around the flattened lot. I used the “constrainfloorelevation” cheat to build houses with lower decks, but with stairs connecting the two levels. IP has a couple examples of this type of seaside house. I built several for this world and Banana Fana is one of them. I documented the technique and show pictures of some of the houses and a bathroom at a beach here -
    forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/753355/build-lower-level-decks

The picture below shows the front of the house named Banana Fana. You can see the lot slopes down toward the sea. The house is built on cement piers. The house and deck have a short set of steps to the ground. These steps were placed while holding the Alt key to keep from distorting the ground much.

If you use this house and lot you have to do a lot of terrain sculpting. The terrain has to roughly match how the lot was shaped when it was exported. When you first place it, you will see high spots and low spots. Sculpt the surrounding terrain to remove those, delete the placed lot, sculpt the whole area and then place the lot again. To help place this lot, I have measured the elevation of the corners of the lot and the height of the sea. In my world, I placed the sea at an elevation of 20.334 (the Y-Axis). The lot is 40 squares deep and the sea hits at about square 23 counting from the front of the lot (where the street is). Looking from the sea toward the front of the lot, the left front corner is at 24.464 (rounded), the right front is at 24.575, the left rear is a 17.438 and the right rear is at 17.482. You could use these elevations to sculpt your terrain to approximately this shape. If your sea level was different, add the difference to these corner locations, sculpt until you have a rather smooth area with the sea at about the mid-point and check by placing an object (I used the foo dog) at each corner.
    screenshot_original.jpg
The picture below is a view from the rear. The deck was depressed about 1.5 half walls (12 steps) and is low enough to provide a boat mooring. The deck is supported on wood piers and is large enough for ping pong, seating and other outdoor activities.

To the left and right front of the house are banana trees. The house name is taken from these trees combined with “Fana”. “Banana Fana” is a part of a lyric in “The Name Game” song or could be a play on words as “Fan of banana” ;) .
    screenshot_original.jpg
Here is a picture of the interior. The house has a living room with book case and television, an eat-in kitchen with seating for four, two bedrooms with beds for four, two bathrooms both with showers. I like lots of showers because in the morning there can be a rush for showers. I also like to have a tub for younger children and bathing dogs. Each bedroom has a dresser and the bigger bedroom has a chair, desk and computer in the alcove. The cost of the house is 52,221 Simoleans.

Banana Fana is a very nice home :) great design of the build. It looks great how you done steps down to the deck area. Sims will enjoy playing table tennis there on the deck or relaxing on the loungers in the sunshine. Very nice layout and furnishing of the interior. Nice patterns that you have used for the bedroom walls and beds. The tiling on the floors of the rooms looks nice. Nice eating nook area in the kitchen for sims to enjoy eating their freshly cooked meals at.
It is a great home! :)

Thank you again rosemow. Here is another family. Is this picture spam? Am I putting in to much?

    Housenfluke Family

The Housenfluke family were some of the original settlers of this island. The picture below shows three generations of Housenflukes in front of their house, Ever from the bin. I like playing Ever because it is a compact house with three bedrooms, a nursery, and 3 baths. A reasonable size lot still has room for a pool, garden and garage. There is a slight routing problem with the dining table, but I moved it in my world. The family has enough money to buy Ever and have about 3,250 Simoleans left over.
    screenshot_original.jpg
The picture below is Gustaf Housenfluke as an elder. Gustaf has an ambition to have a perfect aquarium and is a part time angler (level 4). His traits are family-oriented, can’t stand art, love the outdoors, charismatic, angler. He has level 4 fishing skill.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Hanna Housenfluke, an elder, has a life time wish to be super popular and is a part time grocery clerk. She has traits of hot-headed, charismatic, clumsy, proper and friendly. She has level 2 charisma skill and level 3 cooking skill.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Fritz Housenfluke, a young adult, is the son of Gustaf and Hanna. He has a lifetime wish to have a world class gallery and is self employed as a photographer. He has traits of photographer’s eye, friendly, avant garde, handy charismatic. He has level 1 skills of charisma and photography.

I am not sure how I built Fritz. I might have built his parents and then used CAS genetics to generate him. He might have is father's mouth and eyes, but a little squinty and his mother's nose.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Linda Housenfluke, a young adult, is fritz’s wife. Linda has a lifetime wish to have a perfect garden. She has traits of good, friendly, green thumb, disciplined, and easily impressed. She has level 1 sills in gardening and cooking.
    screenshot_original.jpg
Ben is a toddler and is the son of Fritz and Linda. Ben has traits of good and easily impressed. Again, I created Ben using play with genetics option in CAS. I think he has Fritz’s mouth and Linda’s nose and eyes.
    screenshot_original.jpg
This is a family I played in Sims 2. In real life they are neighbors, but I have changed first names because they may not appreciate my characterization of them. From several ancestry sites I learned that Hausen is a German or Jewish place name for several central and southern German locations and with Fluke (smooth or flat from German) added. Does this mean flat area?

Fluke has several origins. English: variant spelling of Flook meaning outspoken. Americanized spelling of German 🐸🐸🐸🐸 or Pflug. 🐸🐸🐸🐸 is South German and Swiss German (also Flück): nickname for a bright and lively person, from Middle High German vlücke ‘fully fledged’. Pflug is a German occupational name for a plowman or plowwright, from Middle High German pfluoc ‘plow’.

It was pointed out by someone when I posted the beta copy of my world, that I had miss-spelled the name. However, Housen is an Americanized spelling of the German Hausen. And I find both spellings when I search the internet, so I kept the Housen form.

Still to come, Schwerdtfeger, Hobratsch and Synatschk.

    Shotgun House

The picture below shows the exterior of the Shotgun house I built for Housenfluke Rest. It has 1 bedroom, 1 bath and a combination living room, kitchen. It costs 11,700 Simoleans which leaves a young family enough money for a boat.
    screenshot_original.jpg
The house is built in the shotgun style which has been used since the middle 1800’s and allows airflow through the front door and windows and out the back door and windows. My version is a little wider than one room and has no back door, but is a good configuration for a warm island climate.
    screenshot_original.jpg

For some supposed TOS violation, this house was removed by EA. I have renamed it "Bayside Breeze" because of the architecture that allows a breeze to flow in the front and out the back and uploaded again. Same house, just a new name. Updated 9/14/2014.

    Synatschk Family

The Synatschk family owned the souvenir shop on Moldenhauer Island. The picture below shows Sylvia (on the left) and her daughter, Susan. I don’t have any information on the origin of this name.
    screenshot_original.jpg

Sylvia, an Adult, has a lifetime wish to be a scientific specialist, but is at level 5 in the science career path. She has traits of angler, flirty, genius, gatherer, and handy. She has level 2 science skill plus level 1 handiness and fishing skills.
    screenshot_original.jpg

Susan, a young adult, has a lifetime wish to be rich and famous. She is at level 5 in the business career. She has traits of star quality, good, handy, natural cook, and friendly. She has a level 2 cooking skill and a level 1 charisma skill.

The Housenfluke and Synatschk families of sims are very nice :) It is great reading about them and seeing pictures of them. The Shotgun house that you have built looks great. Great exterior and layout of the home.
It is great reading the backgrounds of your sims and the house. :)

Here are two more families from Housenfluke Rest. These two are the last of the six that were zipped and distributed via mediafire. The six have all now been uploaded to the Sims Exchange site

    Schwerdtfeger Family

Nathan and Katrina Schwerdtfeger live on Moldenhauser Island. The family was some of the original settlers in these islands and were always crafts persons. The family has 35,109 Simoleans which is enough to purchase the Personal Paradise (IP). The picture below shows them on a Sunday morning watching television in the living room of this house.
    screenshot_original.jpg

Nathan, a young adult, has a lifetime wish to be a Scientific Specialist and has a level 1 job at the science facility. He has traits of angler, friendly, good, handy, and perceptive and has level 1 skills of science, fishing, and handiness.
    screenshot_original.jpg

Katrina, a young adult, has a lifetime wish to be a star news anchor and has a level 1 job as a journalist. Her traits include artistic, bookworm, brave, friendly, and good sense of humor. She has level 1 charisma, writing, and logic skills.
    screenshot_original.jpg

I learned from an ancestry site that this is an interesting compound name. Both parts deal with sword making. Schwerdt is a German (Bavarian) occupational name for a sword maker, from Middle High German swert ‘sword’. Feger is a South German occupational name for an armorer or weapon maker, from a derivative of Middle High German fegen ‘to clean or sweep’ or ‘to polish a sword’.

    Hobratsch Family

The picture below is of the Hobratsch family on their front porch. This is the perfect family for playing in an island setting. Denise is employed as a lifeguard and James is self employed as a scuba diver. Bonnie is a child and figuring out what to do in life. The family has 41,137 Simoleans and can buy the Oak Grove Bungalow (from the bin). One of the posts on my Housenfluke Rest thread followed this family as they developed a resort and discovered several of the hidden spots.
    screenshot_original.jpg

Denise, a young adult, has a lifetime ambition to be a Seaside Savior. In IP or Housenfluke Rest rescuing 35 people will reveal one of the hidden islands. Denise has traits of friendly, charismatic, brave, nurturing, and athletic. She has level 1 skills of athletics and fishing.
    screenshot_original.jpg

James, a young adult, has a lifetime wish to be a Deep Sea Diver. He has traits of athletic, sailor, gatherer, irresistible, and good sense of humor. He has level 1 skills of cooking and scuba diving.
    screenshot_original.jpg

Bonnie is their child. She has school to attend and a level 1 writing skill. She has traits of family oriented, bookworm, and athletic. Because of her athletic skill she may follow in one of her parents footsteps and be a life guard or scuba diver or because of her writing skill and bookworm trait she may become a writer or journalist. Time will tell!

    Fern Gulley

I built a starter home on a sloped hillside lot using the depressed deck technique I described above for Banana Fana. The picture below shows the front of this house. The lot is 15 squares wide by 25 squares deep and slopes to the left and down toward the back. This house could be placed on a sloping mountain road or partly in ocean with a change of the lower deck foundation and stairs to the ground. To aid in locating and grading the terrain, I have recorded the elevations of the four corners. The front left as you look at the front is 72.163, the front right is 74.977, the left rear is 70.229 and the right rear is 71.641. The right front is the lot elevation. If your lot right front will sit at a different elevation, just adjust all these elevations by that difference and grade your terrain to match.
    screenshot_original.jpg

The picture below shows the rear of this house. The rear deck has been depressed two flights of steps (8 steps) and is a half wall lower than the main house.
    screenshot_original.jpg

The picture below shows the interior of this house. The front door opens onto a hallway that runs to the back door. The bathroom has the essentials, but there is room to replace the shower with a tub/shower combination or better shower. There is a basic eat-in kitchen and bedroom with double bed. The stairs down from the back door lead to a living room with TV, bookcase and seating.

    Training Spot

I have uploaded one of the scuba diving areas I created for Housenfluke Rest. I like to start scuba diving as soon as my Sim reaches skill level 1 by attending the class at the science facility. I have placed this lot in the IP world and use it for initial experience. You could use it this way or place it in a world of your own.

The picture below shows a Sim opening one of the chests on this lot. This chest can be opened at scuba level 1. A second chest requires level 2 scuba skill. On this lot there are 4 low level sea life spawners and one medium sea life spawner plus 4 common sea shell and bottle spawners and one uncommon sea shell and bottle spawner. Six kelp plants are placed on the dive spot and can be harvested.
    screenshot_original.jpg

The picture below shows some of the décor of the dive spot. Besides the usual kelp, sea grass and coral formations are some surface objects that have fallen off of boats or been dumped in the ocean. I hope some of these make you laugh!
    screenshot_original.jpg

Because I like diving and want to start immediately without time devoted to snorkeling, I placed this dive spot in the IP world. I have read a couple of post that describe how to place a dive area in existing world, but I still had problems placing this dive spot. Maybe patches or Into the Future have changed some things. Here is what I did:
1 – I picked a spot in IP which I thought would have deep enough ocean. My ocean is only 20.33 deep, but AuntieLynds reports that IP oceans are 27.38 deep. I picked a spot off Hobart’s Hideaway resort that had no interfering hidden island fog and looked like the surrounding islands had steep sides which would go to deep enough ocean.
2 – This work needs three cheats. At this point enter “testingcheatsenabled on” and then “enablelotlocking on” in the cheat line. The third cheat will be entered later.
3 - Go to edit town and place a 64 x 64 lot. The lot shows up as a square of sandy soil on the surface of the water.
4 - Click on the lot, click on the change lot type icon and set the lot to commercial and “No Visitors Allowed”. I need to set the lot to “Diving Area”, but the community lot list did not have this option. I can’t place the Training Spot dive lot until I make this a Diving Area type community lot.
Update September 25, 2014 - If I had entered both the cheats listed in step 2, then the "Diving Area" appears on the community lot type list. I could have set it here and skipped to step 8. Sorry for the extra steps, but I must have missed one of the cheats the first time through.
5 – Go to build/buy mode on this lot and in terrain tools use the lower terrain to depress the center of the lot five or six clicks until water shows up. Now use the level terrain tool to make the whole lot this low level. No land should show on the lot.
6 – Go to buy mode and enter the cheat “Buydebug on”. I have found that this cheat is not effective until you are in buy mode. Now place some underwater objects (coral and big clam shells). Return to edit town.
7 – Click on the lot, click on the change lot type icon and set the lot to commercial and “Diving Area”. Apparently after some underwater items were placed, the “Diving Area” option gets revealed.
8 – Click on the Show Community Lots option, click on the training spot, click on “Place Lot” and click on the new diving lot you prepared. The game will ask you if you want to bull doze the contents of the existing lot and you should answer yes. The game previews the lot and you accept the location. Don’t rotate the lot or you will multiply the spawners and bury some in the ground. The Training Spot lot is placed and depending upon how deep you depressed the lot, some of the kelp will show. See the picture below.

9 – Very Important – Click on the lot and change the lot type to “Dive Area”. Apparently the lot changes to “No Visitors Allowed” when it is placed.
Optional – When I finished this process, the dive buoy was underwater and I could not select it to change the skill requirement. If you want a skill requirement other than 1, you might be able to change it at this point. Cntl-Shift-Click on the buoy brings up a menu that includes skill requirement.
Update September 25, 2014 - To get rid of the underwater dive buoy problem, I delete it at this point. Then in step 10 before I lock the lot, I add the buoy (by now all the sea floor stuff is underwater, but the buoy will be on top. After I had it, I set the diving skill to 1 or whatever is needed.
Optional – The dive cave does not have an alternate exit. If you want an alternate exit you can define it at this point. For instance, IP has two caves in the Rocky Reef Dive Spot named, Rocky Reef and Rocky Reef2. You can set the Training Spot cave to provide an opportunity to go to Rocky Reef. To do this Cntl-Shift-click on the cave in the Training Spot, select the “Set Travel Destination” and type in the rocky reef cave name and hit enter. Now a Sim who enters the cave will be given an alternate exit opportunity and if accepted will emerge in the Rocky Reef dive spot. But Rocky Reef requires a diving skill of level 2 to dive at it. To enforce this restriction or even to make the alternate exit opportunity available only to more experienced divers, Cntl-Shift-click on the cave in the Training Spot, click on the “Set Scuba Skill Requirement”, and enter a level (2 to be consistent with Rocky Reef or more to further limit the alternate exit).
10 – Very Important – Click on the lot and click on the lock icon to lock it. In my experience spawners don’t spawn as much in an unlocked dive area as they do in a locked dive area.
11 – Now save the world, quit or return to the main menu, and reload the world. The game reload takes care of the elevation problem and places the lot on the ocean floor. Save again to have the final result and you are ready to play.
The picture below shows a diver going into the cave in this dive spot. The cave is named “Wheel Cave” and is placed near the edge of the dive lot and facing out. Notice how the lot has been dropped down to be flush with the IP ocean floor.

I hope you like diving in Sims 3 and that this lot is fun.
