Sims 3 not launching on OS X Mavericks.

I am having issues with my Sims 3 game on my MacBook Pro running OS X Mavericks.
The Sims Launcher will start, but when I press play, the boot up screen shows up for a few seconds and then disappears. When I use gestures to see what is running, the app for the Sims 3 Generations shows up, but the screen disappears. The music starts playing, but nothing shows up
I can't login within the Sims Launcher either. Whenever I put in the correct email/password combination, the launcher crashes.
