Introducing Covergirl: a high fashion competition.
Standing out of the crowd and being bold is key to this competition as you will be put up against 11 other talented models in hope to become this Spring’s cover girl. Each assignment will not be based on Spring, however, other than the last assignment (as I know this can become boring) and there will be both fashion and fantasy themed shots – so don’t worry not all assignments will be fashion crazy!
Altogether there will be a mock and then 9 other assignments. Each assignment will last seven days long, however if you need an extension just let me know 24 hours before! From girly Goths to Sci-Fi cyborgs there is something for everyone! So prepare your styling stations and get your cameras out, ready for the fierce competition ahead!
(This is an elimination competition – some assignments will be a double elimination. If more than 12 models enter then the mock will also be an elimination round).
*Young adult females only
*Custom Content and Pose Player allowed and highly recommended
*Editing allowed and highly recommended
*No photo skinning or plastering
*No negativity towards yourself or others
*Respect the judges and what they have to say – remember everyone has their own opinion!
*Notify me 24 hours before for an extension
*Extensions last up to 3 days
*Don’t join if you are likely to drop
*No ‘no shows’ – I’d rather you drop out than not show up
*And of course have fun!

Assignment 4 – Rock 'n' Roll
Everyone did a brilliant job on their Element shots! The previous round was more fantasy based, so this Assignment is going to be full on fashion!
The genre Rock ‘n’ Roll really took off in the 1950s. However it did not just influence music, it also influenced style concepts and fashion throughout this decade. Whether that was wasp waists, full skirts, red lipstick or neckerchiefs fashion played a huge roll in this time period.
Your task is to create a high fashion shot that not only depicts fashion from the 1950s but particularly Rock ‘n’ Roll. Your image should be bold and exciting but remember style is the key.
Requirements –
*1950s Rock ‘n’ Roll portrayed
*High fashion
*Body/Mid shot
*Accessories!
Examples - These are purely for inspiration purposes and are not exactly what I am looking for. Remember to read the requirements fully and not rely on just the examples!
Bonus - None for A4
DEADLINE: 16th June Midnight GMT time
Like most competitions, the overall score of each model will determine their position or rank in the competition. The scores will be based on a rubric, and the model with the lowest score will be eliminated. Some rounds will be a double elimination.
Scoring Rubric:
Requirements - /5
Have you followed the requirements correctly? Is there anything missing?
Quality - /5
Is the image of good quality/has editing been done accurately (is there any pixelated or blurred areas, is there white around areas after cutting out image which could lose you marks, etc)?
Expression/Pose - /5
Does your model show expression and emotion? Is the posing and expression flattering?
Setting - /5
Is the setting creative and appropriate for the task? Does it work as a background and is it good quality (no white areas form cutting out)?
Creativity - /10
Have you been creative and imaginative? Is the image unique (not stereotypical) and did you think outside of the box?
Fashion - /10
Have you styled your model appropriately – fashion, makeup and accessories?
Total - /40
Bonus:
Along with some of the assignments there will be a bonus – a chance to receive extra points, which will be added to your total. The bonus challenge will be somewhat related to the assignment, and may be either a headshot or bodyshot. Each person who enters a bonus shot will receive an extra 2 points and the best bonus shot (chosen by me) will receive and extra 5. Specifically in the bonus challenge, I will be looking for ingenuity and originality.

This image is not only representative of the element wind, but has an enchanting and magical feel to it! The setting is magical, and all the extra details you included are too. The only issue I had was that even though the hair was very cleverly done, it looked a little flat on top. Otherwise great job!
Well done!

I was very curious to see how you were going to interpret the wind element and I must say that you did not disappoint. If I had to have guessed which element you chose I would have known, I love the fantasy feel about it. I love the pose, but her right hip looks a bit awkward.
Great job!

This is really beautiful and elegant. My only issue is with the hair. I think you did a great job with it, but I feel that the hairline is too far back and it looks a bit weird. Other than that no complaints.
Great job!

This is really beautiful. I can definitely see the earth/nature element present. Your model’s right hand is a bit glitched though. It bends quite unnaturally at the wrist. I like the set and the pose, very tranquil.
Great job!

This shot is so striking and definitely portrays the element you chose! I like the ideas you had but it just didn’t feel like a ‘fashion shot’. I found the grey ‘cloud’ around your models chest slightly distracting and may have worked better without it to give it a more fashionable feel.
Congrats on the bonus shot – it was my favourite!!
Well done!

I like the idea that you went with, I do think that it’s creative. I just don’t think you executed it quite as well. I am not a fan of her hair, it’s bad quality and for some reason reminds me of worms. J I think white hair that was blowing all around would have suited her better. The cloud top also doesn’t fit as just looks out of place.
Good job!

Your model looks so elegant and stylish in this shot! However I feel overall it's a bit bland and doesn't have that 'wow' factor. I think if you had contrasted the background with your model she would have stood out far more.
Well done!

I like this image but I do find it a bit plain and boring. You could have done so much more with your element to make it exciting. The image itself is just too white so much so that your beautiful model gets lost. I love the pose that you used, it’s very fierce and definitely fitting for an ice queen. I would have liked to see some interaction between your model and her element.
Good job!

I really like your models pose and expression as its striking and stylish but I don't feel the intensity of the element you chose. I wish your model had more of a connection with your element. I'm sad to see you go as you were a great competitor - hope to see you lurking!
Well done!

In my opinion you chose one of the more exciting elements, but I don’t feel that your image represents it well. I would have liked your model to have interacted with her element; somehow be part of it. It does look like your image was rushed a bit and that it’s not your usual standard.
Good job!

Overall I am very proud of this mock, I added a background of roses to add more of a sexy theme too it.
Also if you couldn't tell, I tried to portray 'sexy' by making her bright red lip pop!
