The team did a jaw-droppingly awesome job with Roaring Heights, and gave us some great build assets. My project was to fit an Elixir Consignment venue into RH to support the Alchemy skill – on the surface, not an easy fit for the 1920s.

Except that, believe it or not, it really is a natural fit if one recalls that the early 20th Century was the heyday of occult fraternities and esoteric orders. So instead of taking the 'easy out' of a storefront crammed with metaphysical bric-a-brac, a gem cutter, alchemy station and consigment register, I had my community lot concept - an esoteric fraternal lodge.

So here's my Elixir Consignment Shop for Roaring Heights, Arcana Arcanorum Lodge No. 23:

Inside, most of the space is the lodge hall itself. During her or his six-month term, the Magister (or Magistra) gets to preside from this swanky dais seat. A small social parlor and a library and reading room are in the back. Craftsman style, seen in the furniture and temple pillars, was also typical of the period:

    2nRRJEu.jpg

The Treasurer's seat is here by the front entrance, as members are expected to keep current on their dues. What isn't needed for upkeep goes to local charities. Have a bit more to give? Maybe one of our exclusive elixirs or some philosophical literature. There's the consignment register:

    NAYLP1Z.jpg

Once you have shown yourself to be trustworthy and have taken in the society's ethics of public service and good citizenship, you may be allowed to study the more erudite (and potentially dangerous) teachings, otherwise kept from casual view:

    ttoGfRf.jpg

Aha! They really do have secret wisdom! Behold, the Sanctum of the order. Ooooh! Mystical and spooky!

    InYe2Hl.jpg

And that's as much as I can tell you about it, unless you know the secret handshake. ;) A Supernatural community venue presented as a period-appropriate metaphysical lodge, on a 20x30 lot. In overview:

    gYmtMNH.jpg

For more about actual metaphysical societies of the time, I recommend Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manley P. Hall, 1928.

As my Grandkids would say: OMG, I love it.

Thanks for the kind words. It was a fun design, and is up on the Exchange for anyone to grab if they like it. :)

I did a remake of the Port-A-Party Mini Warehouse, for showtime for anyone looking for a private venue for RH. I made it to fit in more with the colors, the all black exterior didn't really fit the town very well!!
I also changed the signs and lights a bit to fit the era a bit more!

    Screenshot-58.jpg

Lastly, I didn't change a whole lot with the interior besides adding the Late Night bars, and a dance floor in front of the DJ booth, but I did make a private back VIP room for higher celebrity status Sims that has a nice hot tub to lounge in

    Screenshot-59.jpg
    Screenshot-60.jpg
So hope you all enjoy, and this makes it a little easier for anyone looking to add showtime venues!

Thanks! I think my favorite part of a new world is editing it and adding to it, I rarely even end up playing it in live mode before the next world comes out, but I have so much fun fixing it up, it's no matter! :D

THE CHARLESTON CLUB - CC FREE

The place to be for the young A-listers of Roaring Heights. Enjoy the bistro and piano lounge on the ground floor. The basement VIP Lounge is where Nice turns to Vice - Casino, professional/bubble bars, juice kegs and a dance floor to dance the night away to the Charleston era tunes. To top off your night, visit the rooftop lounge and enjoy the view as the lights of the Roaring Heights skyline come to life

Some of the sims shown in the photos were downloaded from the exchange. Thanks especially to pinkoranges - I downloaded and recommended a lot of your sims featured in this thread. You may recognize some of them in the photos below :P.

whoa. perfect thanks muchly Sindocat! For me, occult stuff is mandatory in every town and you're right, making it fit in RH is difficult. That lot is perfect!

There's something about fairies in the 1920's which just cries out for a formal sunken garden but the main park is sorta like that already so I keep wondering how I'd redo that or something, but I dunno -- fairies like their privacy and so do the gypsies, who tend to be on the same lot. I love that sunken garden in Twinbrooks but it's too big. And there's a spot in Aurora Skies which would work beautifully, cos of the terrain change, but it's too small and can't be enlarged cos of the road.

Thanks! :) It is a tad bit cramped - I try to build small and then try to add too much stuff, I think. But the version on the Exchange has been playtested and I don't think anything is blocked or broken.

I really have to give credit to the RH designers, because what was the real catalyst for me in solidifying my idea, and then realizing it, was simply the 3rd or 4th pattern on the Municipal Column misc. ornament, which has the bluey-green stripey fauxgyptian edges and the simoglyph patterns on the stone.

I think that was inspired by a particular building I have seen in architectual design books featuring the era, and I think it's a theater or cinema but can't be sure and haven't tracked it down yet. :D But I saw that and went "Whoah!" then "Hey! I know what I'll do with this...." And voila. :D

I generally play Fairies (currently, both in RH and in University Life, as well as my main Fairy/Were couple, the Baulaire-O'Connors), and will have to find a place or thing to do with the Arboretum but I haven't yet. If I do, and I like what I come up with, I'll share it here. If I can make that funny little greenhouse work in Monte Vista (and I did :D), I can find a spot for it in Roaring Heights, too.

It'll be tricky, because the Arboretum is really Beaux Arts/Art Nouveau, so even by 1920s standards it's old-timey and out of date. I'll have to think about it. I'll have to read up about garden fashions in that period, which I know nothing about. But that's half the fun. :)

I don't have ShowTime yet, but it is next on my list - simply because it includes Vocalist as a career skill, so I could make a grand piano/upright bass/chanteuse set-up for a swanky, jazzy nightclub... But that may be a while, as I only just talked myself into University Life, and there's a budget to try not to totally blow on games. :D

I'll post when I have more to share.

Thank you. :P There are only a couple of items from Outdoor Stuff - the ceiling lights by the juice bar on the main floor and the fireplace in the rooftop lounge. There are some store items as well. If you don't have some of the items, the game should load replacements from items you do own. If anything looks strange, let me know, and I can tell you what the original store item was that I used.

There are some store items that were used that are not shown on the exchange list for some reason. Most of the items are from RH, but as you can see from the pictures, there are items from Glitter and Glam, Jazz Age, Hollywood Regency, Regency Arcade and a few others. If you own the items and you are still having problems, it may be a launcher problem. Let me know, and I can put the file on mediafire and you can place it directly in your library folder.

I downloaded again from the exchange and everything worked fine for me -hard to explain the launcher sometimes. Anyway, here is a link for the package file:

    Hope this solves the problem.

Are you getting a script error when you open up your game? If so, any lot you download will have no store content. It seems to have been fixed the last windows patch yesterday. But this was happening for me for a few days.

Wonderful lots guys and thank you for making my Roaring Heights a better place.
