The Sims 3 Pets is a bit better, because so many wanted the horses. We got no wolves but we kept the racoon. Besides the horses, dogs and cats I love tha opportunity to collect animals everywhere: Birds, lizards, rodents etc. and the opportunity to keep them in Cages or set them free.

It's so special to tame a unicorn. They can help you with the plants and bless them. I had my angel tame one:

the horses make it so much better than Sims2 because of the new skills & opportunities, plus the Sims & their pets have different relationships now which expands the sims interactions. One thing that cracks me up every time I see it, and I don't remember it from Sims 2 is cats sleeping on kitchen counters, they interact with their sim owners perfectly, waking, yawning and stretching when the sim comes in before jumping down off the unit and going outside or begging for food. The fur & hair textures are incredible and the animals animations are so right - I think it's a huge improvement on sims 2. I've never had any glitches or problems with the game like others have said, It's just great fun

Sims 3 Pets is definitely the superior EP. The animals move more realistically, their interactions with their Sims are more natural, they look amazing, and as someone else mentioned, the horses add all kinds of new skills and gameplay. Pets is my favorite EP for Sims 3, hands down.

All I'm going to say is I have Pets for both TS2 and 3. I sincerely doubt I will by it for TS4. Both were fun....for a while.

I think it all depends on whether you like animals or not. If you don't like having pets in real life, then you probably won't enjoy them in the game either. Some people (for reasons I will never understand) simply don't like having animals around. I personally think they make everything much more interesting and fun. In addition to everything that has been mentioned, there is a ton of online stuff you can do with this EP. For instance, many people have online RP catteries, kennels, and stables. They breed and adopt out their own animals.
Though having mentioned everything, I didn't even buy sims until Pets came out, so that's pretty much got me pinned right there.

Sims 3 pets was boring because you couldn't have careers for your pets. Which made all the pets dull extremely quickly. Sims 2 pets was a lot more fun.

I never played Sims 2. That said, I love Sims 3: Pets! The cats are just so adorable. Especially when they decide to go "catfishing". Deer are also adorable, I love it when they visit my sim's home. Unless I made the mistake of an unfenced outdoor garden. In which case Bambi ate my tomato crop. Still, soo cute!
Fear not the fae, for they are harmless. Anger not the fae, beware their wraith. Harm not the fae, fear the Faerie Knight.

Definitely a good EP, although I personally preferred the training style for cats/dogs on Sims 2 but that's the only negative point I'd have. Also lots of different animals!

I like TS3 Pets better. The horses alone make it much more fun to build a true farm house.

I didn't play too much with sims 2 pets, I remember I played it on console a long time ago.. but I've played sims 3 on PC now for quite awhile and pets in the sims 3 is awesome! I like it a lot, I find it adds so much to the game. Pets make it more exciting and while it's true they cant get real careers in 3, your pets still can have some skills and make money that way.
