Stones Throw Greenhouse- Pool Enclosure

«1
Before we got a greenhouse set in the store i was thinking how much i would love to build a pool enclosure connecting onto the house. Kind of like this:
pool_enclosures_11.jpg"width=800"
Is it possible? Does it look any good? I don't have the set myself.. Bought the points to possibly get it and i never did. I spent my points on another set and gifted a few people. If someone would try building it for me and then take a screenshot of it so i could see what it would look like? I couldn't find any pictures of people connecting it to a house. Please and thank you. :-)

Edit: The preview picture is connected i noticed but i still would like to see someone use it for a pool enclosure.

It would be different if the greenhouse set were used. The greenhouse roof decor is curvy. Also if you wanted it weather proof the shadows would be missing as the roof decor, when made weatherproof, acts like windows in Sims 3 and that means no cast shadows.

I'm thinking that pools don't actually freeze over in winter, one could use the roof pieces without first placing a flat roof. Wouldn't we get the shadow lines then? I'll have to try it. Thanks for the idea!

The problem is that if you have Seasons, the snow would pile up inside and sims would register being cold when the temperature drops outside. It would be as if they were outside too. They may not want to swim.

Hey RumButter - that is a nice greenhouse with a pool in it.

I will check back later to see what elese you come up with.

I was thinking of having a go at building something too - but I've been reinstalling everything - starting with the Base Game.

I am currently working my way through sets. I am still getting the problem that convinced me I needed to reinstall though. I get a pure virtual error when I click the installed page of the launcher. The game works fine so I am tempted to ignore it.

I just started with a new Sims 3 folder and I am now thinking there must be one or more objects that I had installed that are corrupt. So I am doing it more methodically this time and so far my installed page hasn't caused a crash. I have a long way to go though as I just started again a short while ago.

Edit: and I confirmed it isn't the greenhouse. And I too vote for more glass roofs for us to build with. I'd like to do skylights etc as well as flat roofs and other shapes.

@ karritz awww best of luck with that reinsatll it's a pain to do..and yes skylights please (not fakeing one with the skinny little rail fence ) and i'm going back in game to see how the snow will affect or not i'm pretty sure the sims will be fine as i placed floor tiles on the roof before the greenhouse decor "roof"

karritiz is correct i just tested it in game
as you can see the snow on the ground

    Screenshot-25_zpse4122019.jpg

the sim is happyly swimming i went into build mode and removed the floortiles for the "roof" and left the decor "roofs" in place and as soon as i went to live mode you can see in pic 3 also within seconds the sim got the chilly moodlet

I think that looks good, but I would love to have a more modern clear roof. I have stones throw but it doesn't go with modern homes.

That would be nice. I always like adding fountains and jets around my pools.

I still can't build anything in my game as I'm in the middle of downloading sets so I don't have over 2000 individual items to install each time. This has meant I've used up my download quota plus the extra top up I purchased a few days ago. I get my full quota back for next month in a couple of days and am at work most of the time until then so decided to stick with a slow connection for now.

But I recently did a tutorial on building using the cfe cheat and wonder it it would make it possible to bend walls with big flat windows to look like roofs with big flat skylights. I think that might be an interesting experiment. I'm sure there would be someone on the Creative Corner forum who would know the answer to that question.

On second thoughts it might not be possible to have windows around the sides as well as on top.

The roof pieces have a predetermined shape, you can use moveobjects to put them closer together to make larger rooms but they look really bad at the top. You would end up with a really narrow pool (4x10 squares) (If you were planning to attach it to the side of the house there would be a bit more room for a walkway/patio area. I don't know how well it would work trying to merge it with a standard roof as an extension.
